Reborn with My Genius Husband
Chapter 251 - 261: An Early Romance Backed by Strength is Unstoppable
Pantheon reflexively blurted out, "A license? What kind of license? What exam did you take now?"
Before Mortimer Quincy could answer, he added, "Good thing we’re not in the same department, or you would’ve intercepted my entire income stream." He roared with laughter.
Zeke Zane, however, knew exactly what kind of license. He shot Pantheon a look one might give an idiot, and then his expression soured.
’We’re all human, but the difference is just too great.’
’Marriage?’
’And here he and Anna Willow weren’t even close to getting engaged.’
For once, Mortimer Quincy patiently explained, "A marriage license."
As if afraid they hadn’t heard him clearly, he repeated, "We’re getting our marriage license today."
Pantheon’s laughter died abruptly, and he choked on his own spit. "COUGH, COUGH, COUGH."
’A marriage license?’
’Fuck... yeah!’
Mortimer Quincy was very pleased with their reactions. He raised an eyebrow, then took Holly Winslow’s hand and led her away.
It wasn’t a particularly special day for most people, so there weren’t many couples waiting for a marriage license. It was their turn in no time.
A staff member had them fill out some forms. When asked, they said they didn’t have a photo for the license, so they were directed to get one taken.
Mortimer Quincy glanced out of the corner of his eye at his new wife, who was flashing her signature smile, her expression screaming, ’I am definitely going to look amazing in this photo.’
He raised an eyebrow, then turned to the camera with his own signature smile.
The staff member stamped the official seal, and the two red marriage licenses were finally in their hands.
Holly Winslow glanced at the photo. ’Very nice, very pretty.’ She took out her phone, snapped a picture, and abruptly posted it to her social media: "Just like that, we quietly got married. @Holly Darling."
Mortimer Quincy raised an eyebrow, reached over to take back the marriage licenses, and tucked them into his pocket. Holly Winslow looked at him and pouted. "Give me one of them."
"Nope."
Mortimer Quincy flatly refused. Then he added quietly, "I’m taking them home to hide them."
Holly Winslow was speechless. "..."
She retorted quietly, "Like how you hide your secret stash of cash?"
Bringing up that old story again... Mortimer Quincy was speechless. "..."
’Damn you, Zeke Zane,’ he cursed inwardly.
Back at the university, Zeke Zane sneezed several times in a row.
Holly Winslow’s phone blew up. Messages were flooding in.
Anna Willow: "AHHHH!! Holly, you actually got your license! It came out of nowhere!"
Iris Kensington: "!!!!!! Why didn’t you wait and get it with me on September 9th?"
’If she’d waited to get it with her, that rascal Mortimer’s whole scheme would have been for nothing.’ Holly Winslow couldn’t help but laugh as she quickly typed out a reply: "Sorry, my two lovely fairies, I’m taking the plunge first. I’ll scout out the path ahead for you."
"You two can take your time."
Iris Kensington: "Holly, just you wait! I’m right behind you!"
Anna Willow: "Looks like I’ll be third, then. No rush, no rush. I’m not in a rush at all!!"
Holly Winslow: "Hahahaha."
Just then, a transfer of 99,999 yuan came from Wyatt Winslow. There was no message attached.
But Holly Winslow understood completely. "Thank you to my most, most, most beloved daddy."
Next, a transfer of 200,000 yuan came from Mortimer Quincy’s mother. This part was the same as in her past life. "Holly, just a little something from your father and me. We wish you and Moira a lifetime of happiness."
Holly Winslow: "Thank you, Mom and Dad."
Mortimer Quincy glanced at her phone, then checked his own. Not a single transfer notification. He feigned displeasure. "Honey, I didn’t get anything."
Holly Winslow shot him a beaming glance. "You know why, don’t you?"
"Because *I’m* the head of the household. The Head of the Winslow Family."
Mortimer Quincy couldn’t help but laugh, reaching out to pinch her cheek. "Head of the Winslow Family, since you’ve received so much money, how about you buy your husband some face masks?"
Holly Winslow lifted her chin and held out her hand. Mortimer Quincy knowingly took it. She grinned. "Let’s go. We’ll buy them all."
Mortimer Quincy’s face masks were indeed made of "gold." A box of ten cost 1,080 yuan.
Holly Winslow shot him a look and said dryly, "Honey, we’re already married. You don’t need to use these anymore."
"After all, I can’t return you for being defective, no matter how ugly you get."
The salesclerk overheard and couldn’t help but chuckle, though she quickly suppressed it.
Mortimer Quincy raised an eyebrow, his expression clearly saying, ’Whatever my wife says, goes.’ "In that case, I’ll just have to save my allowance for another two months."
"I wouldn’t dare rebel, after all."
This time, the salesclerk truly couldn’t hold back and let out a laugh. She quickly recovered, "Ma’am—ahem, ma’am, this men’s mask is very hydrating. Normally, one sheet a week is enough, so a box will last for over two months. When you break it down, the price is actually comparable to regular masks."
Though Holly Winslow talked a big game about not buying them, she still bought five boxes for that rascal Mortimer Quincy. It was just enough to qualify for a membership and a 10% discount. The salesclerk added, "On your birthday and wedding anniversary, you can come in to receive a free gift."
"Does getting married today count?" Mortimer Quincy asked, pulling out their marriage licenses.
Holly Winslow: "..."
’As if I don’t know he’s just looking for an excuse to show off the fact that he got married today.’
The clerk glanced at the license and quickly said, "It does."
Combined with Mortimer Quincy’s birthday, they received two gifts: a set of matching pillows and a pair of couple’s mugs.
Back home, Mortimer Quincy leisurely took out the marriage licenses to admire them. Holly Winslow shot him a sideways glance. "Can you get your fill just by looking at them?" With that, she flopped lazily onto the sofa and pulled out her phone to check her messages.
Xavier Jennings: "Wishing you both happiness."
Holly Winslow: "Thanks."
Xavier Jennings: "Mm."
After that, she started reading the comments on her post. Suddenly, she saw a notification that someone had tagged her and tapped on it.
It was a post from Mortimer Quincy: "The girl I love most in the world is now my wife. And she’s right here beside me."
The accompanying image was a photo of their marriage licenses.
Within a minute, the comments section was flooded with "Holy shit!"
Holly Winslow: "..."
At Jarton High, Gabe Chaucer had just finished his lunch break. He picked up his phone to scroll for a few minutes and happened upon the post. Pushing up his glasses, he chuckled. "Mortimer Quincy and Holly Winslow got married."
The other teachers gathered around curiously to look. "It’s true."
"You could say we’re the ones who brought those two students together," Gabe Chaucer remarked with a half-joking sigh.
The other teachers laughed.
"If the two students with puppy love in my class were like them, I wouldn’t be having such a headache right now."
The teacher who had spoken shook his head in resignation. "This puppy love stuff really depends on the students. Not everyone is like this pair, both getting into Branton University."
Another teacher joked, "If I had a pair like that, I’d personally play matchmaker for them."
Gabe Chaucer laughed loudly, then waved his hand. "We can dream. I’ve only encountered one couple like that in more than a decade. So, we’ll stick with the strict crackdown on puppy love."
He paused, then added with a laugh, "Besides, if they’re truly capable, you can’t stop them anyway."
This was a fact that all the teachers had to admit, whether they wanted to or not.
The entire office burst into laughter.
It’s unclear how the news got out, but the Jarton County newspaper published an online article about the couple.
"BREAKING: Former City Valedictorian and Fifth-Ranked Female Scholar Married on April 16th. A Storybook Ending for the High School Sweethearts."
The article was accompanied by a photo of their marriage licenses.
It instantly shot to the top of the trending topics.
Before long, news outlets in B-City started running the story as well.
Everyone at Branton University now knew that the top student from the Finance Department had married the academic ace and belle of the Mathematics Department.
The top comments were a sight to behold.
"Holy shit, what kind of fairy-tale romance is this?"
"They were dating when I started university, and now they’re married before I’ve even graduated. Are they having a kid next year? I might be witnessing the birth of a family."
"I’ll bet five hundred yuan they get divorced eventually."
"Same county, same university... why are they married while I’m still single?"
"Happy wedding to them, and happy singledom to me."
