Chapter 386: Chapter 386: Take My Daughter

Titus Lowell loosened the ropes around Joyce, freeing one of her hands.

Suppressing her fear, Joyce took her phone out of her pocket with a trembling hand, opened her banking apps, and began transferring money to the account Titus had provided.

Throughout the entire process, Titus kept his eyes glued to Joyce, not missing a single detail and giving her no opportunity to contact the outside world for help.

Finally, after transferring all the money from her accounts, Joyce, her face pale, asked in a trembling voice, "...I’ve transferred everything... Can you let us go now?"

Just then, Drake Lowell walked over, phone in hand.

Looking at the transaction history on the phone, his brow furrowed in displeasure. "This is all of it? Goddammit, how is it only this much?!"

He had expected to get a lot more out of this family. He never imagined it would be such a paltry sum!

Titus Lowell’s expression darkened as well. ’He had thought that the family in 1601, a family of five who’d paid for their apartment in full, would have substantial savings. He never expected this was all they had!’

Drake Lowell spat viciously on the floor. "We brothers go through all this trouble, and this is all we get? What a fucking waste of time! This won’t even buy a few pounds of pork!" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

At his words, Joyce trembled, her heart sinking to rock bottom. ’She knew it then. These two thugs were like starving wolves that hadn’t been fed their fill. Since they didn’t get much money, they wouldn’t let her and her family go so easily...’

Her heart pounded with anxiety. She didn’t dare make a sound, only stealing glances at the two thugs’ expressions from the corner of her eye.

Sure enough, Drake Lowell put his phone away, a lewd smile creeping onto his face.

He ignored Joyce and walked straight toward Yvonne York.

Watching Drake approach step by step, Yvonne’s eyes widened, her face a mask of terror and defiance.

Drake reached Yvonne and, ignoring her struggles to pull away, bent down and yanked the cloth from her mouth.

As Yvonne stared back in terror, Drake slowly revealed a lecherous grin. He just stared at her, his gaze making her skin crawl.

Suddenly, Drake grabbed Yvonne by the hair and dragged her in front of Mason Lawson. "Since you’re out of money, you can pay with a person," he said to Mason. "I think your wife’s not bad looking. Starting today, how about she comes with me and my brother?"

Drake’s words struck Mason like a bolt of lightning.

’Let my wife be with other men?’

’No way!’

Mason’s eyes widened and the color drained from his face. He shook his head frantically. "No... You can’t... I’m begging you, please don’t..."

Yvonne was also horrified. She struggled desperately in Drake’s grasp, pleading, "No! Please! Don’t do this to me!"

’Yvonne knew in her heart that if she agreed, it would be a death sentence.’

’Once they took her away, she would never come back alive.’

Seeing this, a flicker of annoyance crossed Drake’s face.

He shoved Yvonne away and said in a menacing tone, "I took a liking to you, I’m doing you a favor here! You want to do this the hard way, is that it?!"

"...Alright then. Since you won’t agree, I’ll just open this window and toss all five of you out! Let’s see how you like freezing to death!"

The temperature outside was fifty or sixty degrees below zero, and the snow was five or six meters deep. If thrown out the window, they would be frozen solid in minutes.

Hearing this, Yvonne’s face went white as a sheet. She shook her head and begged, "...We already gave you the money. Please, I’m begging you, just let us live..."

But Drake paid her no mind. He turned, grabbed Gregory Lawson, and yanked him up from the floor.

To the horror of the Lawson family, Drake held the boy up. He sneered at Yvonne. "This little brat is your son, right? Children first! I’ll toss him out first!"

Gregory had been lying on the floor playing dead. The moment Titus suddenly threw him over his shoulder and started walking toward the window, he began to struggle for his life.

He squirmed on Titus’s shoulder like a trussed-up pig, craning his neck to stare at his parents. Muffled "Mmmph! Mmmph!" sounds came from his mouth as he desperately hoped they would save him.

Seeing this, Yvonne and Mason were on the verge of a complete breakdown.

’That was their precious son, the apple of their eye!’

The grandmother of Gregory and Joyce was tied up facing the wall, so she couldn’t see what was happening. But when she heard the robbers were going after her grandson, she also began to struggle desperately, making muffled, frantic sounds.

Finally, Mason could no longer bear it. Forgetting everything else, he screamed for help, "Let go of my son! Somebody! Help!"

He had barely gotten two shouts out when Drake, who had been standing nearby, strode over.

Without a word, Drake drove a vicious kick into Mason’s stomach.

Drake put his full force into the kick. A searing, knife-like pain shot through Mason’s abdomen, and his vision went black. He couldn’t make another sound.

A cold sweat soaked through his clothes as he curled into a ball on the floor, trying to ease the agony.

Yvonne didn’t dare scream anymore. Sobbing, she pleaded with Drake, "Please... he’s my only son... please, I’m begging you, let him go...!"

Seeing that Titus had already unlocked the security latch on the window, Yvonne grew frantic, her nails digging deep into her palms.

Suddenly, in a moment of desperate inspiration, an idea flashed through her mind.

She yelled directly at Drake and Titus, "You—you can take my daughter! She’ll serve you well!"

The sudden outburst stunned everyone in the room, especially Joyce.

Joyce snapped her head up, staring at her mother in utter disbelief, her eyes wide with shock.

Just then, Mason, still curled up on the floor, gasped in agreement. "That’s right... that’s right... Take our daughter! She—she’s much younger than her mother!"

As he spoke, he looked over at Joyce, his eyes filled with a pleading look, as if urging her to speak up and offer herself in exchange for her brother’s safety.

Joyce met her father’s gaze, a wave of absurdity washing over her.

’She couldn’t believe her own father would say such a thing, as if she were some object to be bartered away.’

However, Mason completely disregarded her feelings and continued speaking to Titus and Drake. "You see, my daughter is beautiful and smart, and she’s a college student... Take her. Just let my wife and son go!"

His voice held a sycophantic tone that made Joyce sick to her stomach.

’She couldn’t believe this man and woman were her parents.’

Just then, Joyce sensed her grandmother behind her nodding repeatedly, making muffled "Mmm-hmm" sounds as if in strong approval of the suggestion.

Joyce felt her heart sink as if into a frozen lake. ’She couldn’t even tell anymore who was more despicable—the robbers in front of her, or her own family...’

Yvonne didn’t look at Joyce. Her eyes were fixed on Gregory, still on Titus’s shoulder, and her expression was full of anguish.

She continued to plead, "My daughter has always been a good, obedient girl... She’s still a virgin! Take her! It’ll be worth your while, I promise! ...Please, just let my son go!"
