Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red - Chapter 495: Two Broken Souls (1)
Lennox stared at the young girl before him. He tried his best to keep his expression serious, but it was hard for him to remain too serious when he saw the mischievous sparkle in her eyes. Blanche was turning five the next day, and despite her young age, she already knew how to deal with her father and manipulate him to get what she wanted. ššš®ššššš·ššæššµ.ššš
He turned his gaze to his wife, asking Adrienne for help, but she only shrugged in response while holding their sleeping youngest child in her bosom. She knew that her daughter had him wrapped around her little finger from the moment Blanche was born.
"Donāt give me that look, Len. Didnāt you wish to have a daughter like her?" She said, a mischievous smile playing on her lips. "Itās your fault for not being able to be firm when you say no to her."
Lennox had been patient and never raised his voice against Blanche. He doted on her from the moment she was born until this very day. Like his siblings, their children preferred Adrienne over him, and sheād been disciplining them.
"Of course I did, but sometimes her mischievousness can be quite overwhelming."
How could he even get mad at Blanche when she was a spitting image of her mother, minus the eyes? Blanche had inherited her motherās spirit and mischievous nature.
Lennox looked at their daughter and sighed. Perhaps what heād read in a book saying āthe man of the house is the firstborn daughterā was right.
"Why donāt you go and see your Mommy Rose in the garden? Itās too early for you to have your afternoon snack, Blanche."
Blanche pouted but listened to her fatherās words. She walked towards the garden, eager to find her grandmother.
Lennox took a seat on the couch next to his wife and looked at their sleeping son. He smiled as he reached out a hand to touch the boyās head.
"Whereās Alina?" he asked, noticing that their second daughter had gone missing while he was speaking with Blanche earlier.
"Liam and Noah took her to play. Itās not every day they come home to see our children." Adrienne replied.
Alina was born three years after Blanche. None of them had expected Adrienne to get pregnant again, but they were overjoyed when Alina arrived. Another surprise came when Adrienne got pregnant for the third time, when Alina was just six months old. Their son, whom they named Blake, was born healthy and brought even more joy to their family.
While Blanche resembled her mother, Alina got her fair share of their parentsā good looks. With her straight dark hair and round eyes, she had an angelic appearance, almost doll-like, which often made people stop and admire her. As for Blake, Adrienne had no doubt he looked like Lennox and Noah, though their son also got her eyes.
"Let me hold Blake for you. You must be tired, Addie." Lennox said, gently scooping up the sleeping baby from Adrienneās arms. She sighed with relief and leaned back into the cushions of the couch, closing her eyes for a moment.
Adrienne hadnāt completely lost her baby weight yet, but Lennox didnāt mind. He thought she looked even more beautiful with the curves that motherhood had given her.
At thirty-seven, his wife was still as beautiful as the day he had married her. Adrienneās dark hair cascaded down her shoulders, framing her face and highlighting her delicate features. Her skin glowed with a soft radiance, her round eyes sparkling with love for her children whenever she looked at them.
As Lennox cradled Blake, he couldnāt help but marvel at the peaceful look on his sonās face. He marveled at how quickly their family had grown in such a short amount of time. It seemed like just yesterday that it was just him and Adrienne, their world revolving solely around one another. Now, they were parents to three beautiful children, and their love had only multiplied.
As he sat there, rocking Blake softly, Lennoxās thoughts wandered back to that fateful day when he first saw Adrienne. She was a young woman who was alone and hurt by her family. She refused to allow anyone to get close to her except for Myrtle. Little did Lennox know at the time, but his encounter with Adrienne that day would change the course of both their lives forever.
He glanced over at Adrienne, still resting peacefully on the couch. A wave of tenderness washed over him as he watched her breathe softly. Being married to her brought him so much joy in life he didnāt think he could have if he hadnāt met her.
It was as if they were two lost souls destined to find solace in one another. Their connection was immediate and undeniable, like two puzzle pieces finally fitting into place. Lennox had never believed in love until he met Adrienne.
As their relationship blossomed, Lennox learned about the pain and betrayal that Adrienne had endured from her own family. He vowed to be her rock, to protect her from any harm that came her way. Together, they built a life filled with love, trust, and unwavering support.
Lennox looked around the cozy living room, his gaze landed on a photo hanging on the wallāa snapshot of their wedding day. It felt like a lifetime ago, yet his memories were still vivid. The moment he saw Adrienne walking down the aisle, radiant and breathtaking, he knew that his life was about to change forever.
Lost in his thoughts, Lennox barely noticed Blanche returning from the garden, a mischievous twinkle still present in her eyes. She plopped down beside her father on the couch, offering an innocent smile.
"Daddy," Blanche began, tugging at Lennoxās sleeve, "can we have ice cream for dessert tonight?"
Lennox chuckled softly and ruffled Blancheās hair.
"Nice try, my little schemer. But I think weāll stick with something healthier tonight."
Blanche pouted dramatically but nodded understandingly. She then turned her attention to her baby brother in Lennoxās arms. Gently reaching out a finger, she touched Blakeās tiny hand with utmost care.
"Can I hold him too?" The little girl asked.
Lennox chuckled and nodded. "Of course, but you have to be very gentle, just like you always are."
Blanche sat still, beaming with pride as her father placed Blake into her tiny arms. She held her little brother delicately, her eyes sparkling with adoration.
