Redemption of a Born Demon
Chapter 304 - 236: Killing Intent Arisen: Refuse to Bow, Lose Your Head (Part 1)
Within Penglai Immortal Mountain.
Yi Beidou stood before the bamboo forest, preparing to leave the Spiritual Spring.
BOOM!!
A Blue-White Demon Flame ignited around him, distorting his surroundings. Seven stars flickered and reversed on his chest as a terrifying aura rippled through the Spiritual Spring.
He pushed his power to the absolute limit of his normal state.
But that wasn’t all.
HUM!
The Life Magnetic Field within his body reversed as he activated Celestial Demon Dissolution.
Second Layer of Reverse Chaos!
He was doing all this to deal with the Bamboo Forest Sword Array before him.
He had entered with great ease, protected by the Bloodfire Throne. It had made all attacks illusory, allowing him to stroll through as if taking a casual walk.
But that was only possible in the Perfect State, with Celestial Demon Dissolution pushed to its absolute peak. The Array was incredibly powerful, and in his current, normal state, he had to treat it with caution.
Stepping into the bamboo forest, Yi Beidou’s figure flickered continuously as he dodged, taking him about ten minutes to finally emerge from the forest’s edge.
He briefly sensed for Cheng Zhihong’s aura and found him at the summit of the Immortal Mountain. He immediately started running toward that location.
He soon arrived at the summit, the place where he had fought the Alchemist.
As soon as he reached the summit, Yi Beidou saw a barbecue grill. A fire burned beneath it, and Cheng Zhihong was grilling a sea fish.
Not far from Cheng Zhihong lay six corpses, all covered with simple pieces of cloth.
"You’re here. Are you alright?"
Seeing Yi Beidou, Cheng Zhihong stood up and looked him up and down. His expression was somewhat wary, and the Power of Fruit Position within him was ready to erupt at any moment.
He couldn’t help it. Yi Beidou’s state before he disappeared had been deeply unsettling, and Cheng Zhihong had no way of knowing if he had truly returned to normal.
"Relax. It’s over. I won’t attack you."
Yi Beidou said, retracting his Demon Flame as he walked toward Cheng Zhihong.
Seeing this, Cheng Zhihong finally breathed a small sigh of relief, though his gaze toward Yi Beidou was still strange.
Even after a full seven days, he still found it hard to believe that this man, a person from the modern world, had actually managed to kill an Ancient One who was using an Immortal Forbidden Technique—and his opponent hadn’t even been able to escape.
Didn’t that mean this man also possessed Immortal Forbidden-level strength?
It was unbelievable. How on earth had he done it?
"What’s the deal with these bodies?"
Yi Beidou walked over, his eyes falling on the corpses lying to the side. He went forward, lifting the coverings to examine them one by one.
Among them was the headless corpse of the Alchemist. Its chest was a mangled mess of flesh and blood, but even after seven days, the body showed no signs of rot. Instead, it actually emanated a strange, incense-like fragrance.
This man’s physical body had reached a state where it wouldn’t decay for years even after death.
The other corpses were strangers, their faces hidden behind ferocious masks. Their bodies were shriveled, as if they had been drained dry, and were beginning to give off a faint, unpleasant odor. However, judging by the strength of their physical bodies, they must have also reached the Saint Level.
"I found these five bodies inside Penglai Pavilion. I suspect they were Super Warriors from the Pioneer Group, used by the Alchemist as avatars. He must have sacrificed their flesh and blood to perform some kind of Secret Technique, perhaps one related to the Immortal Forbidden Technique."
Cheng Zhihong explained.
In the days Yi Beidou had been in seclusion to recover, Cheng Zhihong hadn’t been idle. He had explored nearly every corner of the Immortal Mountain and gained a considerable understanding of the place.
Yi Beidou nodded slightly at his words but didn’t press the matter further. His attention then fell on a dark red ore lying next to Cheng Zhihong.
The ore had a texture somewhat similar to quartz. Yi Beidou picked it up from the ground and found that it wasn’t heavy. There seemed to be hollow spaces inside the rock.
Yi Beidou squeezed it slightly with his fingers and discovered its hardness was quite impressive—probably even tougher than ordinary rock.
"It looks like you’ve made some discoveries on this Immortal Mountain these past few days. Tell me about them." 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
Yi Beidou said, weighing the ore in his hand as he looked toward Cheng Zhihong.
Cheng Zhihong seemed a little embarrassed upon hearing this. After all, Yi Beidou was the one who had defeated the Alchemist; the entire Immortal Mountain could be considered his spoils of war.
The value of ruins like this, which were likely related to the legendary Earth Immortals, was self-evident.
"I did explore the island a bit and made several discoveries. Most of this Immortal Mountain island is unrestricted. Only a few specific locations are protected by extremely powerful Arrays. They must be important areas of the Immortal Mountain."
"I made a map and marked the locations of these areas on it. I didn’t try to force my way in because of the restrictions. You can explore them yourself when you’re ready."
Cheng Zhihong said, handing a simple map he had drawn to Yi Beidou.
Yi Beidou took it and gave it a cursory glance, not paying it much mind. The Immortal Mountain wasn’t that large; with his perception, finding these places wouldn’t be difficult.
Besides, he could tell that Cheng Zhihong wasn’t lying.
Cheng Zhihong wasn’t yet capable of deceiving his Celestial Demon Sensing face-to-face.
"I originally wanted to find some information about the Alchemist’s true identity, but it turns out this Immortal Mountain is unusually clean. I even feel like many things here show signs of having been moved. Right now, there are only two possibilities. One is that the Alchemist knew we were coming long ago and made preparations, moving all the important items related to him to other locations."
Cheng Zhihong sighed. He had originally thought this trip would yield great rewards. The Secret Realm lair of an Ancient One should have held many secrets about his identity, but now it seemed that hope was in vain.
