Redemption of a Born Demon
Chapter 408 - 285: Each with Their Own Agendas, A Newborn Calf Fears No Tiger (Middle)
And she was not an isolated case. Other ordinary people swept by the gray-white Realm had similar reactions. The sound of vomiting rose and fell across several floors, and some with weaker constitutions even foamed at the mouth and fainted.
"Oh God! That’s not a human, that’s a devil! Everywhere he goes, misfortune follows. I have to leave, I have to leave! Or I’ll die here!"
"Run! Get away from here! Those are members of the legendary Secret Organizations you hear about online! They’re Deities hidden among us. We’re like ants to them—even the aftershocks of their fights can kill us!"
"Where are the authorities? Where’s the army?! Is our tax money just worthless paper?! They can’t even guarantee our basic safety!"
"..."
The people enveloped by the gray-white Realm felt a bone-deep terror, sparking widespread panic.
At first, many had just been curious onlookers, treating it all like a spectacle.
After all, things like the Saint Realm and Secret Organizations seemed so distant. It was just a clash between individuals. ’No matter how strong they are, can they really compare to the destructive power of modern warfare?’
Being in Constantinople, they thought they might even get to see a good show.
But now, having experienced it firsthand, they truly understood the terror of such beings. Forget watching a show—just being a little closer could be a death sentence for an ordinary person.
The two sides were practically different forms of life altogether.
Panicked citizens streamed out of buildings, running for the suburbs.
"Liu Xue, we have to go, now!"
the cameraman yelled to Liu Xue on the rooftop.
"No. If you want to go, go ahead. I’m staying to report. You can just leave the camera with me."
Liu Xue wiped the vomit from the corner of her mouth. Far from being afraid, her eyes held a trace of excitement and exhilaration.
Everyone was retreating, but she was determined to push against the tide. If she could get a firsthand report, she could make her name overnight.
She refused to live a mediocre life. Her original goal, after all, had been to become a war correspondent.
"Are you insane?! This is no joke! Those things are monsters! You could get yourself killed!"
the cameraman exclaimed, his face pale with fright.
"If I get to the top of that building over there, I’ll have a view for kilometers in every direction."
Liu Xue pointed to a distant skyscraper and said in a low, serious voice. Ignoring the cameraman’s pleading, she hoisted the camera from the ground and took off running.
"That crazy girl!!"
The cameraman gritted his teeth and hurried after her.
Meanwhile, all sorts of strange phenomena were manifesting in the surrounding city blocks.
SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK!!
Amid a cacophony of shrieks, black bats swarmed in like an ominous cloud. The space they occupied turned a dark, bloody red, and everything within it became twisted and corrupted, as if seen through a filter from the Underworld.
A dozen enormous, hawk-like mutant bats appeared, carrying a man in an old-fashioned tuxedo by their talons. It was a scene straight out of a Myth.
WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH!!
Cyan-green Nether Fire erupted skyward, forming the upper torso of a knight in full armor. Its eyes were filled with a terrifying aura of death that struck fear into the hearts of all who saw it.
A massive Hexagram Array materialized somewhere in the urban center. In the very middle of this Hexagram Array, people could see a human figure.
The figure floated in midair like a Deity, radiating a brilliant light. Arcane patterns, like the orbital tracks of celestial bodies, traced across its form as it calmly gazed down upon the earth.
Countless tendrils of scarlet mist rose into the sky, coalescing into a black-red smog that ultimately formed the shape of a blooming rose. It looked bewitching, elegant, and beautiful.
But the ordinary people enveloped by the mist lost themselves in its beauty. Their hormone levels skyrocketed, surging past the limits of rational control.
In this state—in other words—everyone became a devil, the beast within their hearts completely unleashed.
"What’s with all the pushing?!"
"Asshole! Why are you staring at my girlfriend?!"
"Ma’am, you’re just too perfect. I’m so sorry, but I can’t control myself!"
"..."
The slightest friction or desire was infinitely magnified. The ordinary people within the rose’s domain began to fight as if they’d lost their minds, tearing into one another like wild animals, oblivious to pain.
Conflict erupted across the city. Ancient beings, hidden for years, cast aside all restraint and acted with abandon. To the eyes of ordinary people, the sights were those of Deities at work.
Or perhaps, they were the true Deities who had always been hidden among humanity.
「Constantinople City Hall.」
"Oh God! Oh God!!"
The mayor of Constantinople stared at the incoming stream of reports and video feeds, seemingly having lost the ability to speak, only able to repeat those simple words.
"Mr. Mayor, the city is in utter chaos. Should we request the stationed troops to move in and suppress them?"
the secretary asked cautiously.
"Suppress them?! You can go die if you want, but I’m not ready to! Have you already forgotten what happened in Japan?! Is our military stronger than Japan’s?! These monsters are probably even more powerful than that Yi Beidou!"
"Oh God, in Your mercy, why did You create these terrifying beings who steal Your authority? Is this a punishment for the world?"
