"Wait, did Aleena say she was going to teach us?" I ask, not remembering anything like that.

"Yes. We spoke over the phone yesterday and she told me we could start anytime we wanted."

"H-How? When did you guys talk?" I ask, confused.

"She called me yesterday. We spoke for a while, she apologized about her behavior, and told me to come over today," Lilith says, still flashing an innocent smile.

I’m in shock at what I just heard. How did Aleena get Lilith’s number, and what the hell did they talk about for so long? Now I start to wonder if the two of them planned the whole thing. That would explain why Aleena quickly left the room this morning the moment the doorbell rang.

"Alright, let me take a shower. We’re heading to the Adventurer’s Guild. That’s the most important thing right now," I say, taking the heavy book and placing it on the side drawer while Lilith nods.

Right now, we are standing in front of a huge dome-shaped building with the words {Adventurers’ Guild} clearly displayed above the entrance. It’s a magnificent structure and currently the biggest building I’ve seen in Alowood since transmigrating to this world.

Many people walk around—different races, some I’ve never seen before, and I can’t help but be in awe. Just outside the guild, there are numerous stalls and stores forming a huge, organized market where weapons, gems, crystals, and other goods are being sold.

Without further ado, Lilith and I walk inside. We enter a large reception hall filled with many cubicles, each manned by attendants in black and white uniforms. On one side of the hall, several digital boards draw crowds of people staring at them intently. Artifacts of various kinds hang on the walls with price tags, while shelves are stocked with potions, weapons, spell books, and other magical items, all neatly labeled.

Lilith is also breathless at the scenery. After taking in the grand sight, we join a short queue in front of a halfling receptionist with blue hair.

Our turn comes quickly. Lilith goes first. The moment she steps into the small circle around the cubicle, I stop hearing their conversation, as if a sound barrier had activated.

Within a few minutes, Lilith walks out holding a plastic card. She shows it to me with a wink before stepping aside. I walk into the circle next. The attendant raises her head, her gaze steady.

"Your Class ID, please."

"Mr. Jacob, when I pulled up your Class ID, your face here looks slightly different from your current appearance. Would you like me to update it to avoid future confusion?" the attendant asks in a sweet voice.

"Yes."

She brings out a device that looks like a crossbar and points it at me.

"Please open your mouth."

I do as she says.

"Please, wider."

I stretch my mouth open as wide as I can.

"Please stick out your tongue."

"Please stick out your tongue."

I do it again, already getting pissed off. I must look really goofy right now.

"Shine your teeth please and widen your pupils a little bit."

After a series of weird instructions, she finally hands me the card and calls for the next person.
