Chapter 1549: The Fox Spirit Disaster!

William kept dragging for an unknown period of time. The moment the force that caught him vanished, he instantly landed on the ground.

Unlike his previous visit to the Fox spirit home, the ground wasn’t cold; it was burning hot!

"Watch out!" Without even getting a chance to look around, William heard a scream that came from a far distance. Without any speck of hesitation, he instantly dashed away.

BOOM!

The next moment, the spot he was standing at previously got slammed by a shower of deadly looking pillar of fire. The fire wasn’t yellow; it was deep purple, looking dangerous, looking threatening.

"What is going on?!!" William didn’t get any time to look around when he saw another pillar of purple fire landing on him. Without any hesitation, he dashed right and left, keeping moving towards the source of that warning scream.

As he was on the move, he finally saw where he landed, who was attacking him, and grasped some of the general picture.

First of all, this wasn’t the Fox spirit home. This was a totally alien world, one that he had never visited before. Aside from the weird world, what was weirder were the lots of gigantic monsters, standing on the ground, or flying in the air, engaged in a deadly and fierce fight against each other.

William couldn’t tell what was going on at first. The first thought was that something went wrong and he was sucked towards an ongoing war, one that perhaps happened in the upper realm.

Yet soon enough, he spotted the one who shouted in warning when he first arrived here. And seeing him made William know he was in the right place, or by the right person, at least.

"Fox spirit?!! What the hell is going on?!! Who are they?"

William motioned towards the chaotic battle going on, shouting even before he arrived at the Fox spirit. He spotted the Fox spirit while being engaged in a fierce battle against three other beasts.

If the Fox spirit was here, that meant his enemies were also spirits, his allies were also spirits. The realisation hit William out of the blue. And with it, he got the answer to his questions.

"They are our enemies, your enemies," the Fox spirit roared, "just fight, kill now and let’s talk later, if we survive any of this."

William could easily tell the situation was so critical for the Fox spirit to speak like that. Yet there was a catch; he didn’t know who was the enemy and who was a friend.

"Screw it, I’ll just kill anyone trying to attack him," William decided not to take any risk. He turned towards the Fox spirit and attacked the spirits surrounding him.

The moment he started fighting, William transformed into his spirit body and took out all of his flying weapons. And then a massacre occurred.

The first thing he was worried about was that his power would be insufficient to even wound any spirit here. Yet to his surprise, every single attack landed and killed a spirit. Seeing this made him drop any caution and worry, turned to fight freely without any hesitation. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

The fight was already chaotic, yet when he joined it, the situation started to stabilise on the Fox spirit’s side. Once William killed the spirits surrounding the Fox spirit, other allied spirits started to shout.

"Over here!"

"More help is needed here!"

"Come and save me!"

William was taken aback at first by all these shouts. Yet he decided not to think at all and just act. He looked at the Fox spirit and shouted:

"Is the spirit over there a friend or a foe?"

"It’s an ally, help him, hurry!" The Fox spirit had no enemy attacking him at the moment. And yet he looked overly wounded and greatly weakened. The moment William got the confirmation, he lunged towards the entrapped spirit, killing all the enemies surrounding him.

Soon enough, he started to recognise them much more easily. Every single spirit that was surrounded was on their side. It was clear the spirits helping the Fox spirit were losing the fight, were fewer in numbers, and were divided and separated. They were on the verge of annihilation, if not for the timely arrival of William.

"Come down here," at some point, William helped enough of the ground spirits not to worry about others. The freed ones took a few moments of rest, caught their breath, before they started running and helping other entrapped spirits.

The situation started to tilt for the better for William and the Fox spirit. Yet there was still a place he couldn’t reach to help; the sky.

The flying spirits were way out of his reach. And so William shouted, asking them to draw closer and get to the ground so he could help.

The spirits didn’t hesitate, simply stopped flapping their wings and let their big bodies fall to the ground. Once they landed, they found William waiting for them, unleashing a deadly barrage of attacks over the heads of the incoming enemies.

The fight lasted for many hours, and yet at some point, William could easily tell many things. First and foremost, he couldn’t use his spiritual sense. And in return for that, his attacks looked deadly to the enemies. The second important point was that no matter how many spirits he and others killed, many more appeared from the distance.

This wasn’t an attrition war; it was turning into a terrible situation where they would end up losing their lives the moment they got overly exhausted.

"We can’t keep fighting like this," William turned towards the Fox spirit, shouted, "we need to retreat, regroup, and take hold of a spot and defend it!"

This was the best response to the enemy’s obvious tactic.

"We can’t," just as William was expecting a yes, the Fox spirit shouted with a rejection, "you don’t get it! We aren’t defending this world, we are attacking it!"

"What are you talking about?!" William was startled to hear that. Yet his shock was destined to grow bigger when the Fox spirit explained what happened.
