Reincarnation Tribulation - All I Want Is A Peaceful Isekai Life
Chapter 123 - Adventurer Party(Part 7)
"So, how did it go? Had fun?" Inquired Rosary with a smirk, as I flopped onto the bed with a strained sigh, having had a bite to eat and taken a quick shower.
"Oh, just great, I had the time of my life," I replied sarcastically, as I gave her an irritated side glance.
"Was it really that bad?" Chimed in Prysm curiously.
"I don’t even want to talk about it...and this was just day one of three, I can’t do this," I groaned in exasperation.
"Come on, you’re exaggerating, I’m sure it wasn’t all th-...," Began Rosary, before I cut her off by throwing a pillow at her.
"I’m going to sleep now, so leave me alone. If I have to put up with this for another two days, then I need to be as well rested as I can possibly be," I muttered wearily, as I pulled the blanket over myself.
"I don’t know those three very well, but the few interactions I have had with them have been quite pleasant. They’re good people, so try being more optimistic and open minded towards this," Rosary advised me, as she tossed the pillow I threw at her back onto the bed.
"Yeah, I know they’re good people or whatever, but that’s not the point. Playing along with their niceties is just really exhausting, and it’s so boring in the upper floors of the Labyrinth, I could defeat these Monsters with my eyes closed, like this," I grumbled, as I stifled a yawn and closed my eyes, in an effort to prompt them to leave me alone faster.
"I don’t think you need to put on an act though, just be yourself and don’t be rude," Suggested Prysm, as they began to head to the other room.
"That’s a bit contradictory, rudeness is kind of a part of who he is, he should keep up the act instead," Laughed Rosary teasingly.
"Ha. Ha," I shot back dryly, letting out a sigh of relief as they finally left and shut the connecting door, after Rosary switched off the lights.
It’s about time...this bed is nice and comfy, I’m starting to doze off already. After all the mental exhaustion I faced today, I really need this...
...
...
"We’ll be taking different routes through the Labyrinth today, since there’s unlikely to be a lot of Monsters in the same route we took yesterday. Yesterday’s route was the shortest one to the point we got down to, so in all likelihood, we won’t be going down as deep as we did yesterday," Remarked Ekspen, as he led the way to the Labyrinth.
We’d met up at the Guild at the agreed upon time, before setting out after our progress yesterday was reported. This Deatrio party seems to have a lot of trust and faith with the Guild, we didn’t bring back any body parts of the Monsters we killed, but the Guildmaster believed everything they said and then paid us the amount we’d earned.
The Spectre fetched an especially high reward, though I let Ilex take the credit for it when they suggested that it should be split between the two of us. I didn’t really do anything against that Monster, so I wasn’t going to take any credit for it.
The trio themselves didn’t take so much as a single bronze coin, since they hadn’t intervened at any point during the descent down the Labyrinth. I’ll admit, I kinda admire that, they could easily have justifiably taken a small percentage of the reward since they’re the ones who organized this.
Their claim that they’re doing this to help Adventurers get stronger and be able to defend themselves against Nobles, it seems to be quite genuine. Hm, maybe I could...
"Hey, so, you three are doing this because you want to ensure that talented Adventurers reach their full potential, right? For the purpose of being able to stand up to the Knights and Nobility in general?" I spoke up, as the Labyrinth came into sight.
"Mhm, that’s our hope, at least. We’ve been traveling to other towns for the last few months and helping out young Adventurers however we could, but we’re still a long way from achieving our goal. Just because we’re born Commoners doesn’t mean that we have to put up with the oppression of our self-proclaimed betters," Replied Sakri with a grimace.
"It’s not just the Nobles, of course, it’s anyone who would threaten our freedom and way of life. Dangerous and powerful Monsters, invaders and spies from the Light Continent, Demi-...," Added Ekspen, before trailing off as a small figure emerged from the entrance of the Labyrinth, followed by a few more.
Those are Goblins...if they’re coming outside the Labyrinth, that likely means that their numbers have multiplied significantly...
"This is bad, Goblins are coming out of the Labyrinth!" Exclaimed Dispo, as he and the other two stepped forward. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
"They must have been procreating in a route that’s been low on foot traffic from Adventurers for a while, we need to find out where they’re coming from and wipe them out!" Declared Ekspen, before chanting, "Manifest Soul Weapon: Slash and Burst!"
A long, curved blade appeared in his hands, with a dark red streak down the middle of the length of the blade.
"Manifest Soul Weapon: Armsaber!" Chanted Sakri, Magic Circles appearing over both her forearms.
Gauntlets that extended up to her elbows manifested on both arms, with about one meter long, straight blades on each arm, extending forward over the back of her hands.
"Manifest Soul Weapon: Tremor Gloves!" Yelled out Dispo, heavy-looking thick metal gloves forming on both hands.
Okay, so, I get that Goblins venturing out of the Labyrinth is pretty bad news, but, uh...this seems like a bit of an overreac-...
"This, um, seems like an overreaction to me," Muttered Ilex in bemusement, as the three of them shot towards the Goblins that had emerged from the Labyrinth.
Did he read my mind or something? Still, this is a good opportunity to see a bit of what these three are capable of, they’ve seen too much of what I can do for my own liking, maybe this’ll help even that out a bit.
Ekspen was the first to reach the Goblins, unleashing a swift and rapid slash of his blade as one of them leapt at him, and as his blade struck the Monster...a sharp explosion suddenly burst out, the Goblin getting torn apart by the force as it got sent flying back in pieces.
A blade that explodes upon contact, and with a pretty powerful explosion at that...that’s quite the dangerous weapon, you could take some pretty severe damage from it even if you manage to block it.
"Do you think we should join in, or...?" I trailed off uncertainly, as Sakri decapitated four Goblins with a sharp, outward swing of her arms, slicing through their necks.
"I-I, uh, think they’ve got this," Responded Ilex, as Dispo slammed his fists down onto the heads of a couple of Goblins, crushing them flat as blood and shards of bone burst out and splattered all around the place.
Oh, right, I can use Thought Communication to sense if there’s any more Goblins...as they finished taking care of the Goblins that had emerged, I simultaneously activated both Super Hearing and Monster/Magical Beast Thought Communication.
If I activate both at the same time, I can overlay the Magic Circles on each other, making it look like there’s only one Magic Circle forming. I don’t plan to use my shadow Spell if I don’t need to, but I should prepare for in case the need does arise at some point.
And if it does come to that, I’ll be able to pass it off as a Skill by making it seem like my two sensory Skills are one Skill.
Anyway, as for what I’m now sensing and hearing...hm, yeah, based on this, they definitely overreacted. But it is understandable...there have been cases in the past where Goblins have flooded out of Labyrinth by the dozens. They were probably reacting with that in mind, preparing themselves for the worst.
"There are six more Goblins just inside and on the move, I don’t sense any beyond that," I informed them, as Ilex trailed behind me.
"Well, that’s a relief. It would’ve been big trouble if a huge number of them had been venturing out," Sighed Ekspen, before adding as he released his Soul Weapon manifestation, "Alright, time for you two to take the lead. Though if there is a genuine swarm of Goblins that we run into, the three of us will intervene."
"Don’t take this lightly just because they’re Goblins, with enough numbers even Goblins become a serious threat," Sakri warned us.
"Yes, stay vigilant and keep your guards up," Added Dispo with a nod, as the Goblins I’d sensed emerged from the entrance, before I swiftly killed them all by bursting out earth spikes beneath them, skewering them all to death.
Yeah, I appreciate the warning and all, but...I think I can handle myself just fine...
