Initiate Skill: Magic Eater!

Just in the nick of time, I managed to manifest Magic Eater and swallow up the incoming lava spear before it could hit me, letting out a strained sigh of relief.

Wait, that...that was a Spell, not a Monster attack. I glanced down with a frown, to see a woman wearing thick, high quality leather armor. She had long, flowing blonde hair, dark green eyes and looked like she was in her mid-thirties or so.

She’s pretty hot, totally my type...too bad I’m going to kill her. It’s only fair, she tried to kill me first. I then rapidly swooped down towards her, my eyes widening slightly as she chanted to bring out her Soul Weapon...a whip.

Huh...that’s the first time I’ve seen a whip Soul Weapon besides my own. Compared to mine, it looks...pretty normal. As I began to close in on her, a smirk spread out across her lips as she chanted...

"Initiate Skill: Monster Summoning."

Oh, shit.

I abruptly halted and flew back up, as a Magic Circle appeared in front of her, and a Monster appeared out of it. That’s a Scythe Mantis, another Catastrophic Grade...it’s a humanoid bug Monster with razor sharp blades for arms. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

It turned towards her and raised one of its arm, before she swiftly struck it with her whip...and it lowered its arm, before turning back towards me and leaping up with immense force.

Suddenly, a couple of small, shallow puncture wounds appeared on its chest, as Ilex fired at it with his Soul Weapon, right as it closed in on me. I used the opportunity to fly away while simultaneously blasting out blue flames down at it.

It twisted its body across in midair to avoid my flames, losing its left arm as it got engulfed and scorched to ash in a matter of seconds.

"Who are you!? Why are you attacking this place!?" Snapped Argent, as the Scythe Mantis backed away and stood in front of her.

The Monster Summoning Skill, as I remember, it can summon any Monster that you’ve placed a sort of marker on. But it doesn’t give you control over said Monster...there’s a Skill called Monster Taming, but the chances of one person possessing both those Skills is pretty slim.

Looks like her whip has the same effect as Monster Taming though...I don’t remember a whip like that in the list of Soul Weapons I was shown during my reincarnation process.

Hm...she’s definitely older than me, I’m guessing no two people can have the same Soul Weapon at the same time. Well, whatever, given the choice, I’d have still gone for my Dragon’s Whisker over that one.

"You have no right to speak to me in such a manner, Commoner scum. I am Lyra Drisbell, of the True Nobility! I’ve come here to exterminate all the insects infesting this place, bow down before me and I shall ensure that your deaths are painless. You should feel honored that I would offer such mercy to insects who killed my adorable pets," She, uh, introduced herself.

Is she here by herself, or are there others with her? Let’s find out...

"You sure are arrogant, huh? Or then again, maybe you’re just delusional...I mean, do you really think you can wipe out an entire town by yourself, lady?" I scoffed condescendingly.

"Watch your mouth, scum! You insects should be privileged to be killed by my hand! I could easily have simply let my cute little pets exterminate you, but I was in a good mood," She responded icily.

That probably means that she’s the only member of the True Nobility who’s here, but her Monsters are attacking other parts of the town. I can see plumes of smoke rising up from several directions in the distance.

"Go take care of the rampaging Monsters, you guys! I’ll deal with this cocky bitch myself, shouldn’t be too hard to take down someone who has to hide behind Monsters," I called down to the others, making sure to speak loud enough so that she could hear me too.

"You lowly piece of-...! Kill him, now!" She snapped furiously, the Scythe Mantis leaping up towards me again, as the others spread out and scattered.

A severely injured Monster, Catastrophic Grade or not...is no threat to me. I rapidly flew down towards the Mantis with a sharp burst of flames from my feet, firing out a thick, sticky spider thread which stuck onto the Monster’s chest as I zipped past it, pulling it along with me at a breakneck speed.

I then abruptly halted in mid-air as I simultaneously ignited the thread with blue flames, the Monster shooting down past me towards the bitch controlling it, its body sparking ablaze with blue flames. She quickly stepped out of the way as it crashed onto the ground and skidded away, rapidly turning to ash.

"How...? So, I didn’t imagine it, those really were blue flames you conjured, and you can use Chantless Casting...," She frowned warily, taking a cautious step back.

The way she moves, she’s definitely quite skilled and experienced in combat. She’s arrogant alright, like most Nobles are, but now that she’s recognized me as a threat, she’s being more careful. I should try provoking her...maybe calling her by name would piss her off...

"What’s the matter? You look kinda afraid, Lyra," I smirked tauntingly.

"Huh?" She responded in an icy tone, a look of cold fury in her eyes.

Okay, that might have worked better than I thought it would. She then shot towards me, chanting quietly to try and keep me from hearing...but I still did, thanks to Super Hearing. She’s casting fire and lightning Spells simultaneously, not too bad.

As she got within twenty-five meters of me, a fiery red Magic Circle appearing in her right hand and an electric blue Magic Circle appearing in her left, I smirked as I activated Distance Casting and fired out metal spears at her.

She quickly spun around in alarm and swung her whip across to deflect the spears, the Magic Circles of the Spells she’d charged up vanishing in the process, before I unleashed a barrage of blue fireballs at her from behind.

"Elemental Flame: Jet Soles!" She chanted with a hint of panic in her voice, just barely avoiding my flames as she flew up and over them.

Doubt she’s ever come up against blue flames before, and after seeing how quickly I turned that Scythe Mantis to ash, she’s understandably spooked.

I then swiftly flew up towards her, her eyes widening before she cracked her whip at me in alarm as I closed in on her...looks like her whip can’t extend, it’s about two meters long.

I fired out a block of metal to deflect it away, reaching out towards her throat with my right hand. She quickly raised her arm defensively, as I ended up grabbing hold of her left forearm.

"I’ll take off your head!" She exclaimed as she began to swing her whip at me.

Ah, looks like she can adjust how sharp or blunt it is, just like I can with my whip. But let’s see how she handles this...

"Fair warning, this is gonna hurt," I smirked, as I opened a portal into my Pocket Dimension to avoid being decapitated by her whip.

She let out an excruciating scream of pain as her whip swung into my portal...hm, wonder if it’ll break if I shut my portal? Let’s give it a try. As I shut the portal, I let go of her arm and flew away, as she swung her knee up towards me.

"Wh-what...what did you do to me!?" She cried with a sharp gasp, staring in horror at her mangled left arm.

A new Spell I created a while ago...I call it Anti-Healing. To put it simply, I just healed her in reverse, in other words, damaging her. I discovered it by accident, and it’s quite the potent Spell I’ve added to my arsenal. Prysm can use it too.

She then let out a sharp wheeze, before coughing out blood and plummeting down, crashing onto the ground on her back painfully, as her Soul Weapon disappeared.

It’s rare, but not impossible for a Soul Weapon to get damaged...when that happens, the user experiences immense pain, and won’t be able to manifest their Soul Weapon for a while afterwards.

It’s basically impossible to damage a Soul Weapon with Magic or brute strength, even Izzy isn’t strong enough to damage a Soul Weapon. I should’ve thought of this sooner...I can damage Soul Weapons using the portals I create into my Pocket Dimension! Awesome!

"What was it you said earlier? Bow down before me and I’ll make your death painless, or something along those lines, right? Oh, don’t get me wrong, I’m not making the same offer...no, I’m totally gonna kill you with a whole lot of pain," I remarked with a smirk.

"D-damn it...damn you, I can’t believe I have to resort to this against a lowly Commoner!" She snapped furiously, her shoulders trembling in rage before calming down slight as she shakily got back up onto her feet with a dark look in her eyes, "Contract: Amphisbaena!"

Wait, what?
