Reincarnation Tribulation - All I Want Is A Peaceful Isekai Life
Chapter 190 - Second Wave(Part 2)
Point-of-View: Ilex Sarralot
———————————————————————————
As a second Mana Armament manifested in my left hand, I took aim and fired out a massive barrage of Mana bullets at the Monsters as they broke through the barrier, my projectiles riddling through their heads and killing several of them, as the Knights and other Adventurers quickly surrounded and attacked the ones that managed to avoid my attacks.
I discovered how to pull off Soul Weapon Ascension purely by accident...after seeing Larrk and Izzy’s destructive blue flames, I wanted to find a way to increase the destructive power of my own attacks.
The way my Mana Armament works is by channeling my Mana through it in the direction of whichever output nozzle I want to use...so, to use larger scale attacks, I have to quickly and sharply channel a larger amount of Mana through the weapon.
So, instead of just channeling Mana through the weapon, I tried charging it with Mana, to see if I could store and then fire out a more large scale blast from it. But unfortunately, it doesn’t work like that...that said, doing that resulted in a different outcome, a very welcome surprise.
As I charged Mana into it, I felt something...a sensation I’d never felt before from my Soul Weapon. So, I continued trying to charge it with Mana instead of just channeling Mana through it...and I soon realized that this is the method for triggering Soul Weapon Ascension.
But the closer I got to triggering it, the harder it was to keep the charged up Mana under control. I’ve kept it to myself and have been training in secret...I do plan to tell Larrk and the others eventually, but only after I master it.
I want to get well ahead of them first...yeah, I know, it’s kinda selfish. But hey, considering how far ahead of me they are, particularly Larrk and Izzy, I don’t want to fall behind.
The only other person that I know of who can use Ascension is the Knight Commander, and it makes sense that she did...she telekinetically controls her blades, she likely has to instill them with her Mana to do so, so it’s no wonder that she figured out how to trigger Soul Weapon Ascension.
That said, she probably hasn’t realized how and why she was able to figure it out...otherwise, she’d likely have shared that information with the other Knights. Maybe she was only unconsciously charging her blades with Mana without actually realizing it?
Anyway, let’s get back to the matter at hand...the Monsters are pouring in now that the barrier has been destroyed, and as I understand it, it’ll take a while to be put back up again.
Looks like I managed to wipe out a good chunk of their numbers with my partially Ascended Soul Weapon, but there’s still a lot of them. And now that they’ve spread out, it’s gonna be hard to hit them with Mana bullets without hitting my allies, and it looks like the stronger Monsters are starting to head this way.
Something’s a bit off though...the weaker Monsters seem more focused on trying to get further into town than killing the Adventurers and Knights out here. Is their fear towards the stronger Monsters greater than their desire to kill humans?
I then swooped down as I formed Mana blades with both my weapons, slashing across as I shot towards a couple of Hobgoblins that were about to overwhelm a young Adventurer, slicing off both their heads before they could react, before firing out a large, rapid bullet at an incoming Troll, shooting it through the middle of the forehead. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
"No offense, but that doesn’t seem particularly impressive for a Soul Weapon Ascension. I mean, it’s certainly a handy weapon, but it’s a bit underwhelming compared to the Commander’s Soul Weapon Ascension," Remarked Lynks, as he disemboweled an Ogre with one of his ring blades, before flinging the other one at a group of Goblins with a rapid spin, slicing off all their heads before catching the blade as it came flying back towards him.
"It’s still in an incomplete state, I can’t use it at its fullest capability just yet...but I can take it a little further than this," I replied, focusing as I chanted, "Now, Soul Weapon Ascension: Mana Armament Level 3 - Amplifier!"
My two Mana Armaments then combined into one, forming a T-shaped weapon, a dial forming in the middle of the cross section with four settings over it...by default, it was on the lowest setting, x2, followed by x3, x4 and x5. I then turned the dial to the maximum setting of x5, taking aim in the direction of the entrance to the town, through which still a few dozen Monsters were pouring in from.
This is currently the best I can do with my Soul Weapon Ascension, here’s hoping it’s enough...I channeled as much Mana as I could through to the output nozzle, before nearly being knocked off my feet as a massive, devastating blast of Mana burst out from the weapon, shooting forward with a bright, explosive flash.
It obliterated all the Monster that got caught up in the blast, which burst forward with immense force, tearing across the ground and reaching all the way to where the stronger Monsters were standing, wiping out a couple of the Disastrous Grades before they could react.
W-woah...I might have put a bit too much Mana into that. Yeah, I definitely underestimated how significant a fivefold boost would be...but it worked out, that attack reduced to number of weaker Monsters to less than a third of their initial number. And to be fair, I haven’t had the chance to practice all that much with this form of my Soul Weapon.
"Holy crap..."
"That was incredible!"
"Haha, just what we’d expect from our Diamond rank!"
"There’s someone this powerful among the Adventurers?"
"Not bad at all."
Oh, wow, didn’t expect to make such a good impression...my ears are burning, hearing all this praise is really embarrassing.
"Okay, I take it back...that was amazing," Remarked Lynks wryly, as he used one of his ring blades to punch through the chest of a Troll, before using his Switch Skill to swap places with a Goblin, as an Ogre leapt at him.
The Ogre ended up crushing the Goblin underfoot, before losing its head as Lynks flung one of his ring blades at it. Most of the weaker Monsters have been dealt with now, the other Knights and Adventurers should have no trouble mopping up the stragglers, a small handful over here and the few dozen that managed to get past us and further into town. But that said...
"We’ve managed to deal with the weaker Monsters without too much trouble...but this is where it gets tough," I frowned warily, as the Disastrous and Catastrophic Grades began making their way over.
I count twelve Disastrous Grades and six Catastrophic Grades...that’s a pretty alarming number. Really wish the others were here right now, Izzy in particular...
"Yeah, we’ve avoided casualties and suffered minimal injuries...but this is where the real fight begins. Don’t suppose you can fire off another of those blasts?" He inquired wryly.
"Wish I could...but-...," I began with a grimace, right before the Ascension Level 3 wore off and reverted back to Level 2, "I can’t maintain that level for long, and it takes a while to trigger it again. We’re going to have to do this the hard way."
"Yeah, I was afraid you might say that."
