Chapter 195: Chapter 195 - Second Wave(Part 7)

"This probably isn’t the right time, but I gotta say...as calamitous as these attacks have been, it’s working as good training," Remarked Rayven, as he suffocated a Scythe Mantis to death with his Soul Weapon.

"What is wrong with you? Please don’t say that in front of anyone else, especially since so many of them have lost loves ones to these attacks," I sighed in exasperation, as I pierced the throat of a Hypnosaur with my claws, slashing open its throat and paralyzing it, its body collapsing onto the ground as it bled out rapidly.

"Hm, yeah, I guess that would come off as insensitive...but remember how much we struggled against that Basilisk a few years ago? Right now, we’re taking on Monsters of an equal and greater Threat Level and more than holding our own!" He pointed out, as he finished drowning the Scythe Mantis.

He took down a Lightning Dragonoid earlier, he’s gotten a lot better at using his Soul Weapon, Glob, using the slime-like mass to envelop the heads of the Monsters and suffocate them.

I’m glad there aren’t any Dragons here though, or any other Monsters that are around the same size, his weapon isn’t big enough to cover the entire head of a Monster the size of a Dragon.

"I mean, you’re not wrong...but still," I responded, as I shot towards a Chimera, leaping over the slash of its claws, narrowly avoiding getting bitten as its lion and reptile heads snapped their jaws up at me.

I then swung my claws across, slashing the back of the base of its neck and paralyzing it, before Rayven sent the gelatinous mass of his Soul Weapon shooting this way, splitting into three and encasing the Monster’s three heads, starting to drown them.

"You sure have gotten stronger, sis. You’re a lot faster than before, it’s like your movements are sharper," Remarked Rayven with a grin.

I guess I owe that to spending so much time in the lower levels of the Kaygee Labyrinth, not to mention sparring against Izzy a few times.

"You’ve improved too, I suppose," I replied with a wry smile, before adding, "Alright, does that take of all the Monsters?"

"I dunno, probably," He shrugged in response.

"Well, either way, don’t let down your guard until we’re sure of-...," I began, trailing off as a large Monster came into sight around the corner, slithering into view, "Look sharp, it’s not over."

That’s a Hydra...a massive, three headed snake Monster with strong regenerative powers and deadly poison attacks, a Catastrophic Grade. The easiest way to kill it is to decapitate all three of its heads simultaneously and then seal the stumps with fire or lightning to prevent regeneration.

Larrk is perfectly equipped to take down Hydras, and has done so with relative ease. He slices off their heads with his whip and then burns them with blue flames. Well, he’s also skipped the whip step and just incinerated some with nothing but blue flames, and he’s also eradicated a few with his Black Hole Spell...

"Leave this to me...I’ve got the Poison Resistance Skill, after all," Smirked Rayven, as he chanted and used his Air Walk Skill to step up across the air.

"Initiate Skill: Bind," I chanted, sending out six golden chains shooting towards the Monster and wrapping around each of its heads with two chains.

"Nice work, sis! I’ll finish it off!" Declares Rayven, as he stood above the Monster in midair and began to extend his Soul Weapon down towards it.

Suddenly, a spiked metal sphere attached to a chain came flying out towards the Hydra, striking the neck of one its heads before bouncing off of it and knocking onto the neck of the middle head.

"Keep it nice and restrained, just like that!" Came a woman’s voice, who came into sight around the corner, swinging her up across with a flick of her wrist and slamming the metal sphere onto the neck of the third head, thin trails of blood trickling down from the spots she’d struck, but the punctures she’d inflicted with the spikes of her metal sphere were already closing up.

"The Knight Captain Starbeth Rosenward, huh...," I muttered, as Rayven stared down at her with a look of indignation.

He’s probably not happy at her stealing his kill like this. And now that she’s struck each of the heads, it’s over...

"Boom," She uttered with a smirk, powerful, fiery explosions bursting out from around each of the spots she’d struck with her Soul Weapon as she snapped her fingers, the explosions blowing off all three heads simultaneously and scorching the stumps of their necks, preventing the Hydra from regenerating its heads.

She’s kind of a rambunctious and energetic person, I’m pretty wary of the Knights that have been stationed here in town, but I find myself letting my guard down around here through nothing but her sheer force of personality.

She was tall and muscular, with short dark purple hair with an undercut, dark maroon eyes and a dark complexion. She had a couple of black piercings studded into the top of both her ears, as well as a small ring piercing on her left eyebrow.

"Hey, you stole my kill, that wasn’t cool," Frowned Rayven, as he walked down the air and stepped back onto the ground.

"Oh, I did? Oops, my bad! I didn’t see you!" She grinned sheepishly, as she patted his shoulder apologetically.

"Oh, uh, I guess it’s fine if you didn’t notice," He replied awkwardly.

Yeah, even if someone’s trying to be confrontational towards her, she remains cheerful and upbeat, which makes it hard to stay aggressive against her.

"Have all the Monsters been dealt with?" I inquired as I walked over.

"Hm, I’m not sure. Let’s split up, comb the town and make sure there aren’t any left," She replied, as she carried her Soul Weapon over her shoulder and began walking away.

"I’ll go as high up as I can to try and get a bird’s-eye view," Decided Rayven, using Air Walk again.

That’s a pretty decent plan, though depending on how high up he goes, it might be tough to spot any smaller Monsters. Well, guess I’ll go look around too...
