Chapter 211: Chapter 211 - Contract(Part 6)

"Alright, it’s done now. Your body has finished adjusting to the increase in power. You’ll regain consciousness in a matter of seconds."

"It’s about time, for a while I was starting to think I’d never wake up again. I’ve been dying to test out what I’m capable of now," I responded eagerly, as I felt myself starting to fade out of the void I was in.

"I must admit, I’m still having trouble believing that I’ve formed a Contract with a human. However, I can also say that I don’t particularly regret it," Replied Azazel, as the void of my subconscious disappeared...

I slowly opened my eyes, letting out a slight groan as rays of sunlight streaming in through the window hit my eyes, rubbing my eyelids as I sat up with a groggy yawn.

Wait, no, I’m underground in the Haven, so that’s not sunlight...damn, those illuminating crystals on the ceiling of this cavern sure are bright, I’ve hardly even noticed that there’s no sunlight down here.

I was asleep for over a week, right? So, then, why do I still feel so incredibly sleepy? And also super hungry and thirsty...well, that’s pretty understandable, I haven’t eaten or drank anything in over a week.

Huh, if it wasn’t for my Demonically enhanced body, I might’ve died of starvation or dehydration. Yeah, not a pleasant thought. After everything I’ve been through, that’d be a decidedly shitty way to go.

Hm? Oh, there’s a basket of fruits next to the bed...nice, someone must’ve kept these here for when I wake up. There’s a jug of water too, sweet!

Gotta say, I seriously appreciate this right now, I’m absolutely starving and parched...I reached out to the basket after gulping down about half the jug of water, before picking up a banana and peeling it before swiftly wolfing it down as my stomach rumbled alarmingly loud, almost choking as I practically inhaled the fruit, barely bothering to chew.

I can hear footsteps outside, must be the others...as I finished the banana and tossed the peel into the dustbin in the room, I hopped onto my feet, my knees wobbling as I nearly overbalanced, before I grabbed the edge of the bed frame to stabilize myself.

I then grabbed an apple from the basket as I regained my balance, taking a bite as I dragged my feet towards the door, squinting my eyes as I opened it and stepped out, taking another bite of the apple and crushing it inside my mouth, the sweet juices bursting out and coating my tongue delightfully.

I then turned to my left, to see the others heading over towards me, led by Prysm, with Argent and Izzy following behind her.

"Oh, hey, guys...what’d I miss?" I waved as I stifled a yawn and bit into the apple again, before nearly being knocked off my feet as Prysm sprang onto me and wrapped her arms around me, causing me to stumble back a couple of paces.

"You’re finally awake! I was so worried! Why’d you take so long!?" She exclaimed, her eyes welling up with tears as I kept myself from losing balance.

"O-oh, uh...sorry?" I muttered, as I awkwardly patted her head.

"Glad to see you up and about again, little brother. You had us pretty concerned for a while there, you were out for quite a while," Smiled Argent, patting my shoulder.

"Yeah, you were asleep for eight days. I’ve been meaning to say this...thank you for saving Uncle Azazel’s life, it meant a lot to me, I’m really grateful for that. So...thank you, Larrk," Added Izzy with a warm smile.

"S-sure, don’t mention it...gotta say, this feels way out of character for you, you’re usually always just going on about wanting to fight someone strong," I replied wryly.

"Oh, yeah? Well, I don’t want to hear that from you. I mean, after how sappy and openly honest you were when-...," She began with a smirk.

"A-anyway, uh...have there been any new developments while I was unconscious?" I interrupted her before she could remind me.

"Yeah, there’s been a lot, actually. Hm...is it just me, or do you look a bit different?" Argent narrowed his eyes at me, staring at my face.

I do? Hope it’s nothing too noticeable...

"Oh, he’s right...your hair looks more spiky than before-...woah, it feels that way too, it wasn’t this bristly before," Remarked Prysm as she ran a hand through my hair, before staring into my eyes, "Also, your eyes look brighter...like, they’re the same color and all, but there’s a slight glow to them that wasn’t there before."

"Now that you mention it, my senses do feel a lot sharper than before. Like my eyesight is clearer, same with my hearing, and my sense of smell feels stronger too. It’s a big plus if my hearing has really improved, it’ll make my Super Hearing Skill more potent," I mused, feeling a sense of encouragement.

"Why don’t you test it out, then? Come on, spar with me," Grinned Izzy eagerly.

There she is.

"Sure, but later...I still feel pretty tired. And I really, really want to eat something too, something more substantial than a few fruits," I replied with a wry smile, as my stomach rumbled again.

"Okay, I guess that’s fair...there wouldn’t be much point to sparring if you aren’t at your best, I suppose," She relented with a look of disappointment.

"Uh, but before that...there’s someone who wants to talk to you. And you too, brother...good luck," I remarked, as I closed my eyes.

"Huh? Wait, what does that mean?" Inquired Argent in bemusement, right as I gave Azazel control over my body.

Oh, wow, this is kinda surreal...I can still see and hear and stuff, but I’m not in control. It’s as if I’m inside a robot or something, and someone else is controlling the movements...

"So, you’re the one, are you?" Frowned Azazel, narrowing his-...or rather, my...-eyes at Argent.

"Uh...what?"

"Ohh, I see! Let me introduce you! Argent, this is one of the Demon Generals under my father, my Uncle Azazel! Uncle, this is my lover, Argent Stryker!" Grinned Izzy cheerfully, as she linked her arm with Argent’s.

"H-huh? Wait, then you’re-...u-uh, it’s very nice to meet you, Mr Azazel, I’m-...," He stuttered, looking kinda alarmed and caught off guard.

Heh, this is hilarious, I so don’t regret not giving him a heads up before switching!

"I would like to speak to you in private, human...I have determined that your brother is a human worthy of trust, but I don’t know anything about you yet. I need to ascertain if you’re-...," Began Azazel intimidatingly.

"No, you’ll do no such thing!" Protested Izzy indignantly, stepping in front of Argent as she added, "If it wasn’t for him, I’d have been enslaved by other humans, he freed me with no ulterior motives, and ever since then, I’ve never been as happy as I am when I’m with him! I’ve long since determined that he’s more than worthy of my unconditional love and trust, and I won’t let anyone question that, not even you, Uncle!"

Damn, she’s really letting you have it, isn’t she? Wish I had some popcorn right now...

"...your enjoyment of this irritates me," Responded Azazel wearily.

Hey, don’t take it out on me, you’re the one who approached this all confrontational-like, I’m just a spectator.

"You’re a piece of work, you know that?"

You’re only just now realizing that?
