Chapter 222: Chapter 222 - Teleport Trap(Part 2)

"Y-you...you’re a Heretic too? You lowly scum...how dare you do this to me!?" He snapped, as the dust cleared to reveal him with a look of fury on his face, his left hand and forearm severely broken and mangled, his arm trembling in pain.

His lance was on the ground by his feet, and he was glaring at me with immense, burning hatred in his eyes...damn, if looks could kill.

"Try to stay alive a bit longer...I’ve got a few more tricks that I’d like to test out, and you’re the only ones left," I smirked, as I gestured off to my left.

"N-no, impossible!" He gasped in horror, his eyes widening at the sight of Izzy sitting atop a pile of corpses, a bored, disappointed look on her face.

"Hey, hurry it up, Larrk. These guys were all super weak, this was a waste of time...come on, finish him off and let’s go home. Oh, I didn’t kill these ones, like you said," She called out to me, pointing at a smaller pile of people, all knocked unconscious, next to the hill of corpses she was seated upon.

"D-damn it...I refuse to die here! Y-you, keep him busy and buy me time to escape!" The man snapped at the slave girl, who nodded quietly and stepped towards me, before suddenly dropping into the shadows, as the man began to fly up with Wind Magic.

I unleashed Jet Boost and Jet Soles to blast myself off the ground and chase after him, a look of panic and terror appearing in his eyes as I caught up to him in the blink of an eye, grabbing his shoulders before slamming my knee onto his stomach and eliciting a sharp gasp of pain from him.

"Where do you think you’re going, huh?" I inquired with a smirk, as I tightening my grip on his shoulders and rapidly swooped down towards the ground, aiming to slam him down a few meters ahead of the entrance to the Labyrinth.

"N-no, wait, over there is-...!" He began in alarm, before yelling out, "H-Heretic, get me to safety immediately!"

As I closed in on the ground, the slave girl emerged from the man’s shadow...and almost instantly, a large Magic Circle appeared around her on the ground.

No...damn it, no, not again! I tried to halt myself, but it was too late, I was already caught up in the Magic Circle, a sense of desperation starting to envelop me...before my surroundings changed, finding myself in a dark, damp cave.

I quickly got back onto my feet and backed away, raising my whip towards the man and the slave girl, before stopping as I saw the look in his eyes, a look of immense fear, all the fight in him gone.

"Th-this can’t be happening...n-no, this is a nightmare...," He stuttered in despair, trembling in fear.

"Where are we? It sounds like you know," I frowned, extending my whip towards him, halting it as the tip nicked his neck, but he hardly even seemed to notice.

"W-we’re at the bottom of the Labyrinth...M-Monsters were constantly pouring out of this Labyrinth, w-we couldn’t cross the Dead Zone because of that, s-so we set up a perimeter of teleportation traps around the entrance, one that would teleport the Monsters right down to the fiftieth floor of the Labyrinth. W-we just got caught up in one of those traps, a-and now we’re as good as dead," He trembled shakily, looking like he’d lost all hope.

My eyes widened slightly as I looked around, my eyes adjusting to the darkness...there are dozens upon dozens of Monster corpses all over the place, most of them reduced to nothing but bones. And everything around this place is covered in a thin layer of green sludge.

God fucking damn it...I have the worst fucking luck!

Hm? Wait, luck?

Come to think of it, didn’t Tania cast an Enchantment on us that boosts our luck or something before we left the Haven?

Considering how my previous life ended, and how I ended up enslaved and locked up in a basement in this life, it’s safe to say that I don’t exactly have the greatest luck in the world. Argent has the passive Skill Luck, which apparently boosts his luck, which means that luck is a real thing, at least in this world.

Assuming that a person’s luck has a numerical value, and that bad luck would mean a negative value...then, further assuming that Tania’s Enchantment was a luck-multiplying effect...multiplying a negative number results in a larger negative number. Did...did her Enchantment end up worsening my already-bad luck...?

"Are you...humans? It’s been several decades since I’ve seen one of your kind...how fascinating, maybe this will give me a brief reprieve in my boredom," Suddenly came a chilling voice, my body freezing as I was snapped out of my thoughts, before I reactively activated Thought Communication...and sensed something incredibly ominous.

"N-no...no, I refuse to die in a place like this!" Cried the man in a horrified panic, scrambling onto his feet and running away desperately.

Suddenly, a mass of green sludge burst out around him, enveloping him as he let out despaired cry, the sludge flooding into his mouth and nostrils, his body bloating up rapidly like a balloon, the sound of bones breaking apart and flesh squelching echoing out before a bloody explosion of guts burst out, the sludge absorbing all of it.

As the man died, the slave girl’s collar suddenly fell off her neck, hitting the ground with a clang as a hint of light returned to her eyes, as she touched her neck with a look of disbelief, like she couldn’t believe that she was free again. Good for her...but given the current circumstances, her freedom may very well be short-lived, literally...

"You there, the taller human," Came the voice again, echoing through the space as I felt the ominous presence focusing on me, my blood running cold, "I can sense that you’ve slain many of my kind. No, there’s something else...you’ve consumed them, haven’t you? Hundreds of them..."

I stared with a sense of dread as a mass of green sludge flowed out of the ground a few meters ahead of me, taking shape in a humanoid form.

"A-are you...a Slime?" I inquired warily.

"Yes, indeed I am. Allow me to introduce myself...I am Plasmuk, the Slime King," He introduced himself, before adding as the former slave girl began to sink into her shadow with a wary look on her face, sending several slimy tendrils shooting towards her, wrapping around her arms and torso, pulling her back out as he added, "Don’t leave so soon, you just got here. Hm, but what a fascinating ability...did you sink into the ground? No, the shadows...fascinating indeed. Let’s prevent that, shall we?"

"Damn it...," She muttered with a grimace, struggling to try and break free.

Suddenly, a thin layer of sludge spread out across the ground, the walls and ceiling, coating every spot in the space and blocking the exit, before the sludge began glowing brightly with a bioluminescent hue, all the shadows disappearing as light shone in from every direction, illuminating the entire cavern.

Hey, uh, Azazel, do you know anything about this guy? No offense, but his presence feels even more ominous than yours did. Just slightly, but still...

’Plasmuk...yes, the name sounds familiar. I believe King Satan has encountered him. And if I remember right...he warned us to stay away from this creature. He fought him, but could not defeat him.’

Great, that’s just what I wanted to hear, the Demon King, possibly the strongest being to ever exist in this world, was wary of this thing. Wait, maybe I can use this...

"Wait, you said your name is Plasmuk, right?" I spoke up nervously.

"Hm? Yes, what of it?"

"You’ve fought the Demon King, haven’t you?" I remarked, deciding to gamble.

"What? How do you-...? That was such a long time ago...at least a few human lifetimes, so how would you know?" He responded, sounding intrigued.

Okay, I’ve got his attention...uh, now what?

"Woah, what’s that thing? It looks strong!" Came a familiar, excited voice, before a massive burst of blue flames exploded towards Plasmuk, engulfing the humanoid shape of slime and rapidly evaporating it.

"Izzy!? What-...!? How-...!? Why-...!?" I blurted out in bewilderment.

"You disappeared, so I followed. More importantly...guess I was mistaken, that thing turned out to be pretty weak-...," She began with a shrug, before freezing as a mass of green sludge rose up behind her.

"What do we have here? I’m getting such a familiar sensation from you...yes, it’s just like Satan’s. But there’s more, something similar to a Dragon King...what a great day this is turning out to be, I haven’t felt this excited in centuries," Remarked Plasmuk gleefully, a hint of fear appearing in Izzy’s eyes...a sight I’ve never seen before...
