Chapter 229: Chapter 229 - The Slime King(Part 7)

"Damn it!" Exclaimed Izzy, visibly frustrated as she unleashed bursts of blue flames and Negative Energy all around her, though still taking care to avoid hitting me or Lumena.

But her attacks were mostly futile, not doing any real damage to our opponent. And every time Azazel tries to charge up a Black Hole Spell, more attacks get focused on us, leaving us unable to cast the Spell.

With the Black Hole Spell, it takes a second to cast, and then requires a bit of focus to maintain...and that’s proving to be impossible right now. Plasmuk’s attacks are slowly but surely getting faster now, while we’re just wearing ourselves out here.

"Hey, Slime King! We’ll ask you again, why don’t you expose your core to us!? With such an overwhelming advantage, you must be bored...the thrill of putting your life at risk by exposing your core should make this more enjoyable for you!" Yelled out Azazel, trying out one of the options we’d brought up while strategizing.

Come on, man, we already tried that. He isn’t gonna go for it.

’At this rate, we’ll probably all be dead within a matter of minutes...so I’ll grasp at straws if I have to!’

"What? Do you take me for a fool, Demon General Azazel? Why in the world would I do something so foolish?"

Well, it was worth a try...or not, since we already did try it to no avail.

Suddenly, as dozens of sharp tendrils shot towards Izzy, she unleashed a shockwave of blue flames to blow them away, before letting out a choked gasp as one of them snuck up behind her and wrapped around her throat.

As she began to reach for the sludge tendril around her neck, it suddenly whipped across the space with immense force, swinging her around before abruptly releasing her, sending her flying across and slamming onto a wall with a devastating impact, eliciting a sharp cry of pain as cracks spread out across the wall behind her.

She let out a groan as she plummeted down towards the ground, several tendrils chasing after her as she fell.

"I won’t let you, you bastard!" Snapped Azazel furiously, shooting towards her at a rapid speed, before my eyes widened in alarm as the tendrils chasing after Izzy abruptly halted and came shooting this way.

Watch out, he was luring us in, it’s a trap!

Azazel quickly halted and shot away as the tendrils chased after us, while Izzy collapsed onto the ground with a thud, a dazed look in her eye as a mass of sludge engulfed her and restrained her, wrapping around her head to try and suffocate her till she’s unconscious.

I felt sharp pains bursting out across my body as the tendrils slashed my legs and sides as Azazel flew away, his speed starting to taper off...

’This is bad, we’re almost out of time! A few more seconds and I will no longer be able to stay in control! Is...is this really the end for us, damn it!? At the very least, is there no way to save Izzy!?’ Exclaimed Azazel in desperation and frustration, as my left leg got torn off from below the knee, blood gushing out as our speed continued to diminish.

Yeah, it’s not looking good for us, is it? Alright, then, in that case...I’ll try one final, last ditch effort. We’ll probably die if it does wrong though.

’We’re as good as dead anyway, so we might as well try...looks like I’m out of time. I’ll leave it to you, then, Larrk.’

As his consciousness began to lose its control over my body while mine simultaneously began to get back into control, I focused as hard as I could, putting all my concentration into the task of casting two specific Spells.

And as control of my body fully reverted back to me, I entirely stopped focusing on evasion, gritting my teeth and stifling hisses of agonized pain as several of the sludge tendrils pierced through my body and burst out my torso. I coughed out blood as I simultaneously let out an excruciated gasp of pain, but I didn’t let it break my concentration.

I shakily lifted my hands, pointing them down towards the ground, before casting a massive dome-shaped barrier over most of the area using my Light Attribute, making sure Izzy and Lumena were outside of it.

"T-take this, you bastard!" I exclaimed, blood gushing out of my mouth as a massive black hole manifested inside of the barrier, instantly swallowing up all the sludge within the dome and then carving out the ground bit by bit, revealing several layers of sludge embedded underneath the surface of the ground.

Suddenly, as my Spell continued to carve out the ground and deepen the crater it had created, a mass of sludge burst out around me and engulfed my entire body, wrapping around my face and flooding my mouth and nose, preventing me from breathing.

D-damn it, no...!

My vision blurred sharply as I began to suffocate, the black hole fading away as I lost my focus, before I was suddenly sent flying across the air, my back slamming onto a wall as I felt several bones shatter and break apart, my body wracked with immense agony as I fell off the wall and plummeted towards the ground, barely conscious.

"Th-that was close...I must say, this was turning out to be quite boring and disappointing, but you almost had me there. Just a few more seconds and your Spell would have reached my core, I was starting to panic for a moment. Hm? Oh, you’re actually still alive?" Remarked Plasmuk in surprise, as the holes all throughout my torso began to close back up.

D-damn it, I was wrong, it sounds like he really can’t move his core around the space as he pleases...

This is really bad...I may have survived, but I’ve lost way too much blood, even after I finish regenerating, I won’t be able to move anywhere near my best. Well, so much for my last ditch effort...looks like this is the end...

’He’s too powerful...he’s likely grown more powerful since he battled against King Satan. We may never have stood a chance to begin with,’ Responded Azazel bitterly.

"Well, I suppose it does not really matter. You will die soon regardless...but since you got so close to killing me just now, I shall ensure that you die a painless death, human who houses a Demon within him. I shall even let you choose the order in which I kill the three of you...do you want to die first, or would you prefer to die last-...?" Began Plasmuk, before trailing off as a powerful shockwave suddenly burst out, the entire cavern rumbling ominously as I picked up on a terrifying presence with my Thought Communication.

I slowly turned my gaze that way as my body instinctively broke out into a cold sweat, my eyes widening at the sight that met me...it’s Izzy.

She’s back on her feet, but something’s not right. Her Magic Energy feels different, more feral and violent than before. The black, bone-like layer over her right eye like a mask was breaking apart, cracks spreading out across it as the purple mist flowing out of the center of it began to spill out more fiercely.

It then shattered into pieces as that purple energy came bursting and gushing out of her right eye uncontrollably, a low, animalistic growl escaping her lips as her body began to change shape.

Her torso and limbs grew more muscular, as her mouth and nose extended forward, her entire face and head changing shape and resembling that of a dragon. Her horns grew longer as her tail grew thicker and rows of spikes extended out along it, her skin turning a darker shade of red as the purple energy flowing out of her right eye engulfed her body like an aura, her very presence sending chills down my spine...
