Chapter 279: Chapter 279 - Arcadia

"Looks like things are progressing pretty well. All resistance towards us in the nation has been dealt with, and the remaining citizens seem to be starting to understand that they aren’t going to suffer under our rule, so that’s good. We have full control over the nation, and the rebuilding efforts are going at a steady pace," I concluded, as I skimmed through the reports.

"Yes, there was a lot of animosity towards us from the citizens, and while that tension hasn’t completely faded away, it has gotten a lot better. The more we rebuild the nation, the more we earn the trust of the people, as they realize that we have no malicious intent towards them," Added Oberr.

"I still feel quite uneasy about being a part of a nation with so many humans, but I don’t exactly have anywhere else to go," Sighed Satan wistfully.

Today’s the 15th of Maius, 2020, almost a full month had passed since we launched our attack on Hematite, and things were starting to settle down.

After we took control of the Capital and the towns in the west half of the nation, it took us two days to conquer the east half, wiping out any and all resistance we met and then relaying our intentions to the citizens.

A lot of people seemed pretty skeptical and suspicious of us, which is understandable, but thanks to us having so many insanely powerful individuals on our side, not many people put up any further resistance.

Ideally, I was hoping to avoid using fear to get them to cooperate, but realistically, that wasn’t going to happen, considering we’ve got Demons on our side, as well as Demi-Humans, who have been seen an inferior to humans for a really long time.

We liberated close to five hundred Demi-Human slaves after we took over the nation, and a lot of the Hematite citizens didn’t react too kindly to it.

Well, whatever, the more time that passes, the more people who should hopefully come to realize that they have nothing to worry about, that we weren’t lying about intending to treat everyone equally under our rule.

Speaking of that, we decided to set up a governing body consisting of various representatives who all hold an equal amount of power, with no one person holding more authority than the rest.

So far, it consisted of some of the Demi-Human Elders, Satan and Lucifer, a couple of mayors from the towns and myself, Argent and Rhyle. The mayors weren’t included in this meeting though, we figured it’d be best to include them once the situation in the nation is more stable.

This governing body is unofficial as of yet, we’ll set up a more permanent group of members once we’ve fully stabilized things in the nation. It’d probably be a good idea to have a democratic structure and hold the members subject to reelection.

We’ve also been keeping an eye out around the borders, and so far, it doesn’t look like any of the other nations are preparing to attack us, so that’s good.

We killed the majority of the Nobles in Hematite, though we spared a few and sent them away about a week ago to spread word of the fact that Hematite is no more. And on that note...

"By the way, any thoughts as to what we should name this nation? Since we went through the trouble of conquering it, we might as well rename it," I pointed out.

"It doesn’t particularly matter to me, call it whatever you want," Shrugged Satan indifferently.

"It should be something that emphasizes our policy of treating everyone equally, I have no real input beyond that," Chimed in Arofri.

"Yeah, that’s a good point. It’s like how you guys named your previous place of residence the Haven, just hearing that name makes you think of it as a safe place," Nodded Argent in agreement.

"We could just straight up rename this nation to the Haven then," I suggested in response.

"No, that feels a bit lazy, we should change it up at least a little," Replied Oberr objectively.

Hm, maybe so.

"How about a synonym for the Haven, then?" Spoke up Rhyle.

"Let me think...off the top of my head, there’s Sanctum, Asylum, Oasis and Sanctuary," I mused thoughtfully.

"Sanctum and Asylum sound more like facilities, I don’t think those really work, Oasis and Sanctuary aren’t bad though," Said Argent after mulling it over.

"What about Eden or Utopia?" Remarked Lucifer, as she leaned back in her seat a bit.

"I don’t know, those sound a bit too pretentious. Oh, I’ve got another one, how about Arcadia? It’s not an exact synonym for Haven, but it does mean something along the lines of ’peaceful life’ and stuff," I suggested, feeling pretty good about that one.

"Hey, I like that...yeah, that’s a good one," Nodded Oberr in reply. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶

"Yeah, and it sounds pretty cool too. How about we just go with that, then?" Responded Argent in agreement.

"I’m okay with that," Replied Satan affirmatively.

"No objections here," Added Arofri.

"Alright, then, I think that settles that matter. We shall rename the nation of Hematite to the nation of Arcadia," Stated Lucifer with a smile.

"Cool, let’s spread the word once we’re done with this meeting," I nodded with a thumbs up.

Hope this won’t be met with too much resistance...oh, well, we can figure out how to deal with that if and when it comes up.

Well, on the bright side, the way things have been going, it looks like I’m on my way to finally accomplishing my ultimate goal in this world, the thing I’ve been striving towards since day one.

Finally, after all this time, my goal of living a peaceful isekai life in this world is within my grasp...
