Reincarnation Tribulation - All I Want Is A Peaceful Isekai Life
Chapter 291 - Wouldn’t Be a Bad Thing if You’re Proven Wrong
Point-of-View: Izzozon
———————————————————————————
"I’m so glad you’re all free again...for the longest time, I thought I’d never get to be with all of you like this again," I remarked with a smile.
"Yes, I was quite relieved and happy to find out that you were safe. Although, it is a but vexing that humans played such a big role in freeing us. I can’t help but wonder what they’re really after," Sighed Vorph sullenly.
I get why she’s thinking that way, but I know without a shadow of a doubt that she’s got nothing to worry about. Larrk, Argent and the others would never betray us.
"I was of the same opinion initially, but I have to admit, these humans have proven themselves to be trustworthy," Chimed in Lucy.
Today’s the 30th of Quintilis, 2020, about ten days have passed since Larrk and father rescued Aratron and Vorph from their imprisonment.
It was around midday right now, and about half an hour ago, Lucy and Vorph showed up by my room with snacks, alcohol and marijuana, they wanted to spend some time with me relaxing.
I’ve spent a lot of time and spoken to them a lot after each of them were freed, of course, but we haven’t really hung out and relaxed like this.
We used to do this often before the humans declared war on the Demons, I really enjoyed those days, I hold those memories fondly. So, to do this after so long, it’s so nostalgic.
"By the way, Izzy...I’ve been meaning to say this for a while, it’s about that human partner of yours. I have to say, the thought of you being romantically involved with a human is-...," Began Vorph with a frown.
"I’m going to stop you right there...I love you and all, Vorph, but I won’t take kindly to anyone saying anything bad about my boyfriend. He’s treated me with nothing but affection and respect, and I love him more than I can put into words. And like I told you before, he saved me, I would have been enslaved if it wasn’t for him. And if that had happened, all of you would probably still be imprisoned as well," I pointed out.
"Yeah, she gets quite aggressively defensive when someone speaks ill of that human, I guess I should have warned you, Vorph. And I suppose that I can vouch for him too, I’ve seen for myself that he will not hesitate to risk his own life to protect our little Izzy here," Smiled Lucy, as she patted my head.
"Hm...I suppose I can accept that, for now. And what of the human who was with Lord Satan when he saved me?" Inquired Vorph in response.
"He’s, uh...well, he’s maybe a little bit crazy. Like, there was a time where he kept eating Monsters because that made him stronger, even though Monsters taste disgusting. Oh, and there was another time where I asked him to spar against me, and he managed to cut off my leg...and then asked me if he could eat it," I recalled in bemusement.
"Wait, what?" They both responded incredulously in unison.
"Yeah, I was a bit weirded out but I wasn’t against the idea, since I just regenerated a new leg to replace the severed one. Argent objected to it, but since I was okay with it, Larrk just went for it. So, yeah, he’s definitely a little bit crazy. But that said, I have no doubt that he’s trustworthy. There was this one time when I lost control and went on a rampage, and he almost died while putting my out-of-control power back under control. It would’ve been a lot easier to kill me or even just abandon me, but he didn’t even consider that," I informed them.
"I see that you think quite highly of these humans, don’t you? But humans are a manipulative, deceitful species...they won’t hesitate to betray you at a moment’s notice when it suits them," Argued Vorph with a grimace.
Yeah, I guess I can’t blame her for thinking that way, considering that she suffered at the hands of humans for over two centuries.
"I understand your point of view, but I think we can trust these humans. They didn’t need to go out of their way to free us, you know...they could easily have placed an Enslavement Collar around Izzy’s neck while she was sleeping or something and then used her as their own personal weapon while leaving the rest of us to continue to rot in our respective imprisonments," Pointed out Lucy.
I’m glad she trusts them, at least...Larrk seems to have earned father’s trust, though he is still a bit wary of the other humans, and he doesn’t like Argent because he’s my boyfriend.
Not totally sure about Aratron, but I think he’s pretty wary and suspicious of the humans too. Neither of them have a problem with the Demi-Humans though, and since pretty much all the Demi-Humans trust Larrk and the others, that could help make the Demons trust them too.
It won’t happen overnight though, it’ll take time. Trust has to be earned, after all.
"Well, I guess it’s unreasonable to expect you to be okay with being allied with humans right away. But, at the very least, just try to keep an open mind. I mean, it definitely wouldn’t be a bad thing if you’re proven wrong about this, right?" I pointed out with a smile. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
"Hm...no, I suppose not. Alright, I suppose I can at least try. Like you said, we’d still be imprisoned if it weren’t for them, so if nothing else, it’s only fair to at least give them a chance to earn our trust," Vorph relented with a sigh, a conflicted look on her face...
