Reincarnation Tribulation - All I Want Is A Peaceful Isekai Life
Chapter 311 - Arcadia Championship Clash(Part 1)
"Allow me to welcome you to Arcadia, I appreciate you making the journey here. Make yourselves comfortable, and I hope you enjoy the Arcadia Championship Clash," I remarked with a smile.
"Yes, we’re looking forward to it, thank you for the invitation," Responded Landis with an amicable nod.
Today’s the 20th of Aprilis, 2021, the day of the tournament. The leaders plus a few other guests from the other nations of the Dark Continent had shown up in response to the invitations we sent out, I’d posted them up in a VIP seating area we’d built in the stadium, with a great view of the arena.
The VIP section was set up with rows of comfy couches and was air-conditioned, and we’d placed a row of fancy vending machines across the back wall of the room, for easy access to snacks and drinks.
After they all arrived, we put up a small concert to kick things off, with a bunch of artists performing songs and dance, stuff like that. We’re about five minutes away from starting the main event, and I’ll be participating in the first match, and I figured I should drop by the VIP section and greet the guests from the other nations.
Landis had come here with Aries, a couple of other Knights and a handful of Nobles, most of whom were eyeing me warily and disdainfully. I’ll just ignore them, they should behave themselves after a few matches go by and they get a display of what we’re capable of.
"Feel free to use the amenities provided, I’ll have to leave shortly since I’m competing in the first match of the competition, but I’ll have one of my colleagues sit in here with you. If you have any complaints, please direct them to him and he’ll see to it that any concerns are addressed," I stated, before glancing at the door as Satan walked in.
"Greetings, humans. No need to look so wary, this is but a friendly recreational competition, there will be no hostilities unless provoked. So, just relax and enjoy the show," He addressed them with a smile.
"Alright, then, I’ll let you handle things in here, I’ll take your place before it’s time for your match," I remarked, as I gave him a pat on the shoulder and headed for the door.
"Very well, good luck."
"Thanks."
I then headed out of the VIP room and made my way down to the arena, feeling a sense of anticipation rising up inside me...we’ll only be holding the first round today, so once my match is done, I won’t fight again today.
The rest of the tournament will resume tomorrow once we wrap things up today with the first round, so today’s more of a preview while tomorrow will be more the main event.
My first opponent will be the Light Elf Elder, Oberr. He’s pretty strong, so I can’t take him lightly or let my guard down, I’ll need to approach this fight with a degree of caution. It’ll be pretty embarrassing to go back to the VIP section if I’m knocked out of the tournament in the very first round, after all.
As I reached the corridor leading to the arena, I strolled through it, before stepping out the exit and making my way towards the arena as cheers rang out across the audience, abuzz with excitement and anticipation, as Oberr stepped out and approached the arena as well.
"I’m well aware of how powerful you are, but don’t think that means I’ll just resign myself to a defeat here. I’m going to come at you with everything I’ve got, I’ll use everything I’ve got in order to defeat you," He declared with a smile.
"Oh, is that so? Alright, then, bring it on...let’s see what you’ve got," I responded with a smirk, as the safety barrier formed around the arena.
"Okay, uh...the Arcadia Championship Clash is about to begin. The first match will be between Larrk Stryker and the Light Elf Oberr," Mysst’s voice echoed across the stadium.
Damn it, I told her to sound upbeat and enthusiastic in order to pump up the crowd. Since she isn’t participating in the tournament itself, I figured I’d assign her to the role of announcer and commentator...yeah, that might’ve been a mistake, I should’ve picked literally anyone else.
"Alright, the countdown is about to begin, the first match will start the instant it reaches zero...ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five..."
Seriously, she sounds so unenthusiastic, at least put a bit more energy into it...
"Three, two, one...zero."
"Let’s start this off with a bang," Grinned Oberr, as a bright flash followed by a shockwave burst out around him, the intensity of his Mana spiking as he began glowing.
He’s using his Luminous Elf form right from the get go, huh? And he’s activated his Anti-Spell Field Skill too, so I won’t be able to cast any Spells. But my Soul Weapon, Skills and Contracts are still very much on the table, not to mention the various abilities I gained by eating Monsters.
I then unleashed the full power of both my Contracts, my skin turning blue as wings and horns grew out, before manifesting my Soul Weapon and triggering Soul Weapon Ascension, daggers forming in both my hands with sharp spikes on the handles over my knuckles, as the belt with the two whips formed around my waist.
My vision then turned completely dark, as Oberr used his Luminous Elf ability to control light to warp the light around my eyes to blind me...no matter, my Contract with Plasmuk gives me the ability to sense my surroundings even without the use of sight, this won’t make much of a difference other than being a minor inconvenience.
Oberr then took out a bow and used his Mana Control Skill to form an arrow of pure Mana, charging it up before taking aim and firing it at me with immense speed.
I rapidly extended out my left whip and sent it shooting forward, swinging it across as it closed in on the incoming arrow and dissipating it upon impact, the whip cutting right through the projectile and killing its momentum.
He then quickly raced across as I fired out a deafening, high-pitched sonic screech at him from my mouth, narrowly avoiding it before he flung out a handful of seeds, using his Chlorokinesis to make them bloom rapidly before sending them shooting out towards me to try and restrain me.
I extended both my whips in front of myself and rapidly swung them around with immense speed as the incoming plant tendrils began to close in, ripping them to shreds as my whips tore them apart, before I fired out sticky spiderwebs at him from my fingertips.
He quickly sprinted away to try and evade them, before abruptly halting as one of the webs hit the back of his left calf and stopped him in his tracks. I then swung my arm across to pull him off his feet and rapidly swung him across the arena, before he fired out a slashing wave of Mana at the web, cutting through it before the momentum that’d been exerted on him sent him hurtling through the air before he crashed onto the wall of the barrier, ripples flowing out from the point of impact.
He then got back onto his feet and gathered light between his hands, before taking aim and firing it out towards me in a rapid, compressed beam of heat.
As the beam closed in on me, I swung my left dagger across, striking the side of the beam with it and deflecting it away, before making use of my Contract with Azazel and charging up a Negative Energy blast and firing it straight at Oberr.
He raced across and narrowly evaded the blast, a loud crash ringing out as the blast slammed onto the wall of the barrier, before several Mana arrows came shooting towards me.
I swiftly spread out my wings and flew up to evade them, before rapidly swooping down towards Oberr and swinging one of my daggers at him.
He halted and sprang back right in the nick of time, the tip of my blade grazing the side of his jaw and drawing out a trickle of blood before he formed a vibrating Mana blade in his hand and slashed it at my chest.
I blocked it with my right dagger before extending out one of my whips and wrapping it around his legs, tightly constricting it to knock him off balance, before I charged up Azazel’s Exploding Fists ability into my other whip...
"Sorry, but it looks like I win," I remarked, as I cracked the whip towards the side of his head, triggering the barrier as my whip closed in on his head, teleporting him out before it could hit him and blow his head off his shoulders, my vision returning to normal as he got teleported out.
"Hm? Oh, it’s over...ahem, okay, the first match of the Arcadia Championship Clash is over. The winner is Larrk Stryker," Announced Mysst, as cheers erupted across the stands.
Okay, I really need to have a word with her...
