Chapter 319: Chapter 319 - Arcadia Championship Clash(Part 9)

Point-of-View: Argent Stryker

Alright, it’s my turn now. My opponent is a Werewolf, and I’m fairly confident that I can win this fight, but I shouldn’t take it lightly...Satan didn’t take Phyurio seriously and ended up taking more hits than he’d likely anticipated, even though he won pretty easily in the end.

I need to stay calm and composed here, assess my opponent’s abilities and then determine how to go about countering them, and ultimately defeating them...

"Good luck, Argent, I’m looking forward to seeing you win," Grinned Izzy, before giving me a kiss on the cheek.

"Well, that puts a bit more pressure on me, so thanks for that, Izzy...alright, then, I guess I’ll have to do my best not to disappoint," I replied with a wry smile, giving her a pat on the head before I began making my way down to the arena.

As I walked down the stairs, I glanced ahead as footsteps echoed out, to see Satan heading back up into the stadium.

"Ah, it’s your turn now, is it?" He greeted me, narrowing his eyes slightly.

I know he’s trying to intimidate me here, and, well...it’s working, I’m very much intimidated.

"Uh, yeah, it is," I nodded nervously, as I moved aside to give him room to pass.

"I see...I hope you win, I sincerely do. After all, if you get through the first round, you will be my next opponent. And I’m quite looking forward to that, it should be quite the cathartic experience, so don’t let me down," He smiled as he placed a hand on my shoulder, a dark gleam in his eyes before he patted my back and strolled up the stairs with a slight hum.

Well, shit...hm, maybe I should lose this first match on purpose. No, that might just make things worse, plus Izzy would be disappointed, and I certainly don’t want that.

Well, at least the second round won’t be until tomorrow, that’s a small, very small, positive, I suppose. Yeah, doesn’t change the fact that I’m seriously dreading it already...

"It’s time for match number ten of round one, Argent Stryker vs Luna," Announced Mysst, continuing as my opponent and I stepped onto the arena and the barrier formed around the space.

My opponent looks a bit nervous too, she has a tense look on her face, and her body is all tensed up too. Most likely, she’ll look to launch an attack the instant the countdown ends, it’ll probably be a slash or a howl, unless she’s got a Skill that gives her another ranged option. Whatever she goes for, I should be able to counter, I need to keep my eyes peeled and focus...

"Here’s the countdown...ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one, zero."

The instant the countdown ended, as I’d expected, my opponent swung her claws across and fired out a slashing shockwave straight towards me, as I quickly chanted to manifest my Soul Weapon and swung my blades out as the slashing wave closed in on me, killing the momentum of her attack and dispersing the force.

She then shot towards me rapidly, before I zipped across as she swung her jaws open and unleashed a fierce howl at me, narrowly evading it before firing off another slashing shockwave at me from her claws.

I leapt off to my right to evade it, before she took out a small dagger and flung it straight at me. I whipped one of my blades across at the dagger closed in on me, deflecting it away to my left, before my eyes widened in alarm as my opponent suddenly swapped places with the dagger...crap, she’s got the Switch Skill!

I quickly activated my Intangibility Skill as she drove her claws towards me, a look of surprise appearing on her face as her claws phased through the side of my neck, before she quickly sprang back as I swung one of my blades across at her, a shallow cut appearing across her chest as the tip of my blade nicked her skin and dragged across, trickles of blood running down and seeping into her fur.

Hm, she’s got good instincts and a decent reaction speed, and with that Switch Skill, it won’t be easy to defeat her. Still, though...

I then shot towards her, her gaze swiftly darted across before she vanished from my line of sight, the dagger she’d flung earlier appearing on the floor where she’d been standing, before I turned my body intangible as another slashing shockwave came barreling towards me with immense speed, phasing through me and crashing onto the wall of the barrier.

I then stomped on the edge of the handle of her dagger, launching it up before whipping my foot across and slamming it onto the base of the handle, sending it shooting towards her rapidly as I sprinted towards her at top speed.

She swiftly twisted her body across to evade it, before I triggered the Jet Soles Spell and unleashed bursts of flames from my heels to launch myself forward, her eyes widening slightly as she began to spring back, before her gaze sharply turned across to her left as I used Distance Casting to fire out a Lightning Arrow Spell towards her from about a meter away to her left.

As the Spell closed in on her, her gaze swiftly darted towards me, before swapping places with me. I turned myself intangible to avoid being hit by my own Spell, which phased through me and shot across to my right.

This is going nowhere, she’ll use that Switch Skill every time I try to close the gap...in which case, my best option is to overwhelm her with speed, too fast for her to react in time to properly use that Skill. Guess I’ve got no choice, I’ll have to use it...

"Initiate Skill: Limit Breaker!" I exclaimed, before I zipped across the arena with a massive boost in speed, her gaze darting about in alarm as she lost sight of me, before her eyes widened as I entered her line of sight right in front of her, driving one of my blades towards her chest with a powerful thrust, the tip of my blade piercing through her skin before she vanished from sight, using the Switch Skill to swap places with me.

I swiftly swung my right foot out behind me, a cry of pain ringing out as my heel slammed onto the back of her left hip...she must have started to race across to her right the instant we switched places, but she was too slow.

I may not have the kind of immense power that Larrk and the Demons do, but with my Limit Breaker Skill, I can briefly approach their level, at least physically...I was hoping to hold off on using it until my fight against Satan and keep an element of surprise, but oh well.

It’s fine, I still have one more new little trick up my sleeve, I’ll keep that under wraps until tomorrow...

As my opponent backed away and tried to get some distance, I fired out the Sand Blast Spell, unleashing a wide burst of dust towards her, which engulfed her before she could react, forcing her eyelids shut as the dust particles hit her eyes.

I then shot towards her, weaving across as she wildly fired off slashing shockwaves from her claws all around her, evading her desperate attacks and closing in on her as she strained to try and open her eyes, tears running down her face from the irritation by the dust in her eyes, her eyelids shakily starting to open just in time to see one of my blades shooting up towards her throat.

But it was too late, as before she could use her Switch Skill, the tip of my blade pricked her skin and began to drive into her neck, before triggering the barrier and teleporting her out, as I swiftly looked around the arena to make sure she hadn’t used the Switch Skill, before relaxing as I spotted her outside the arena.

Her shoulders were slumped, as she let out a disappointed sigh and began rubbing her eyes with a grimace, muttering to herself as she tried to get the dust out.

"Hm? Oh, it’s over...okay, that’s the tenth match of round one done, the winner is Argent Stryker."

Alright, I’ve got through the first round, but the hard part comes after this, in the second round tomorrow. Tomorrow, I’ll have to face the Demon Lord Satan, one of the most powerful beings in the entire world...and if that wasn’t enough, he has a grudge against me because I’m dating his daughter.

Yeah...tomorrow’s going to be rough...
