Chapter 359: Chapter 359 - Demons vs Dragon Kings(Part 2)

"Hmph, this isn’t fair...," Grumbled Lucy with a pout.

"Yeah, I couldn’t agree more, repeatedly trying to get away with cheating isn’t fair," I nodded dryly.

"And despite those multiple attempts at foul play, we still emerged victorious. How embarrassing for you," Smirked Terrastra teasingly.

"Indeed, I expected better from Satan’s kin," Aereeze shook her head in disappointment.

"Yeah, that wasn’t cool. It would’ve been fine if we lost normally, but losing after cheating is just sad," Added Vorph with a sigh.

"H-hey, come on, not you too..."

So, yeah, the Dragon Kings won in the end. They do have greater physical prowess and brute strength than Demons do, but it probably would’ve been a relatively even battle since Lucy’s played the game quite a bit lately.

After I caught her cheating two more times, I decided to add a penalty, if caught cheating again, the other side would get an unobstructed attempt at scoring.

She didn’t stop though, she tried to be a lot more subtle with her cheating after that, but since I was keeping a close eye out for it, I spotted it and called her out every time. And now she’s all sulky because she didn’t get away with it...

"Ohh, let’s try that next! It’s called ping pong, I think, and it’s a lot of fun!" I suggested as I spotted the table.

"Alright, time to redeem myself-...," Lucy began with a determined look in her eyes.

"Yeah, no, you’re sitting this one out. It’s another game that’s two on two at most, after all," I pointed out.

"Wha-...!?"

"I’d rather sit out instead of her, that last game got way too intense, I would prefer to play some video games inst-...," Spoke up Vorph.

"No, you’re playing. Big sis Lucy needs some time to think about what she did," I stated firmly.

"Y-you don’t have to be so harsh, Izzy..."

"It’s the only way to make sure you don’t do it again," I replied with a shrug, as we walked over to the table.

"I think I’ll sit this out too," Volunteered Aereeze, as she gave Liquaqua a pat on the shoulder, who stepped forward with Terrastra.

As we took our places, I explained the rules to them, before handing out the paddles and picking up the ball.

"Okay, so we have to make it bounce once on our opponent’s side, got it," Nodded Liquaqua, before she and Terrastra put their guards up as I tossed the ball up.

"You Dragon Kings have amazing brute strength, but unlike the last game, that alone isn’t enough here...you need control and finesse to be good at this game!" I exclaimed as I slammed my paddle against the ball, launching it forward.

It zipped over the net and bounced around the middle of their side of the table, before Liquaqua locked her gaze onto the ball and whipped her paddle forward. It collided against the ball with a loud thunk before it came shooting towards me with immense speed.

I quickly raised my paddle in alarm, the ball striking the top edge and deflecting off, too fast for me to react.

"Th-that was a strong hit, wow...but since it didn’t bounce before reaching me, that’s a point to us," I remarked, as Vorph jogged back and picked up the ball, before making her way back to the table.

As she got ready to serve, Liquaqua and Terrastra muttered to each other briefly before turning their gazes forward...hm, I wonder what kind of strategy they came up with?

In my experience, this game isn’t one you get good at overnight, it takes some practice before you get the hang of it...the ball is practically weightless, so controlling it when hitting it was super tough to figure out. Let’s see if they do any better at that than I did when I first played...

As Vorph struck the ball, which bounced right at the edge of their end of the table, my eyes widened in surprise as Terrastra swung her paddle up and struck the ball from below, launching it straight up.

Liquaqua then leapt up several meters, zipping up and over the ball before swinging her paddle down as the ball began to plummet, striking it powerfully and launching it down towards our side of the table in a rapid blur.

The ball slammed onto the table and bounced off in the blink of an eye, flying over us before we could react and hitting the floor several meters behind him.

"Uh...is that against the rules?" Inquired Vorph in bemusement.

"I have no idea...I’ve never seen that being done before," I shook my head in response, before adding with a smirk, "But I welcome the challenge...alright, bring it on, let’s see if that works a second time!"

"You’re way too amped up," Sighed Vorph as I picked up and tossed the ball to the Dragon King pair before heading back to the table.

"Very well, then...here I come!" Exclaimed Terrastra as she flung the ball high up into the air before leaping up towards it.

Even though the element of surprise is gone, that speed was too fast to fully follow...in which case...

"Unlock Seal: Level 3!" I chanted, a burst of purple energy erupting out of my right eye as Terrastra slammed the ball down towards me.

Yes, I can see it now! Too slow!

I whipped my arm across and struck the ball with my paddle angled, sending it shooting back the other side rapidly.

Liquaqua shuffled across to intercept it, before her eyes widened as the ball sharply spun away as it bounced, evading her paddle and hitting the floor before she could react.

Yes! I did it! I managed to hit the ball and land it on the table with spin! I mean, okay, that might have been a bit of a fluke, but I’ve never managed to pull it off before!

"Seriously?" Sighed Vorph as she stared at me in bemusement.

"This is gonna be fun...let’s keep going!" I declared excitedly, feeling pumped up...
