Chapter 400: Chapter 400 - Vampire Attack(Part 26)

Point-of-View: Caera

Hm? Well, now...

"What’s the matter? You seem a bit vexed," Remarked Frielektra as she tried to catch her breath, trickles of blood trailing down her entire body.

"Oh, it’s nothing, really...it just seems that all the clones I sent out have been destroyed. Indeed, it would seem that we’ve miscalculated just how strong this nation’s forces really are...I didn’t imagine that all seven of the clones I sent out would be defeated this quickly," I replied, before flying up as I felt the ground below me starting to shift, right before several earth spikes burst out.

My, that was quite close... 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"Damn it...," Muttered Terrastra, her right arm slumped as one of my clones had managed to inflict a deep gash across her shoulder, where she’d caked on a bit of dirt to stem the bleeding.

"Well, so be it...I suppose I might as well focus all my resources on killing the two of you. I can deal with the rest of the city afterwards," I smiled, before forming seven new clones to replace the ones that had been destroyed.

"Hm...this isn’t good," Remarked Frielektra warily, as my twelve clones and I spread out and surrounded the two of them.

I haven’t been using any blood attacks after I used my Blood Clones ability, and I commanded the clones I sent out to refrain from using blood attacks as well.

My clones last about twenty minutes after being created, unless I infuse more energy into creating them. And the more they regenerate and use blood attacks, the more the energy they’re infused with gets drained, and they may end up lasting only about five to ten minutes, or even less.

It hasn’t even been a full ten minutes since I created them, which almost certainly means that their cores were destroyed...I had them refrain from using their blood attacks so that they would last longer, but perhaps that was a mistake.

If I’d allowed them to use blood attacks, they would likely have not been defeated so quickly. Now, then...I think I’ve held back long enough. I see no sense in dragging this out...so I’ll use everything in my arsenal to eliminate these two as quickly as possible!

"Now, it’s time for the two of you to die," I smirked, as my clones and I took aim at them, charging up concentrated masses of blood.

We then fired out piercing beams of blood in unison, a dome of earth rapidly forming around them, the attacks of my clones and I slamming onto the dome and tunneling through rapidly...it’s no use, all they’re doing is delaying the inevitable. They’ll be dead before much longer...

Point-of-View: Frielektra

"D-damn it, I...I can’t hold it back much longer! Their attacks are too powerful, they’re boring through my dome faster than I can repair it!" Exclaimed Terrastra through gritted teeth, as she strained to try and hold off the attacks.

"Hm...alright, we’ve only got one option left. Burrow yourself down as deep as possible...I’ll take care of the rest," I remarked, after mulling over our options.

"Huh? What’re you-...?"

"There’s no time to explain, just trust me! Burrow down, and create an opening at the top of the dome. Hurry! Now!" I urged her, before she nodded and did as I said.

I spread out my wings and zipped up as she opened the top of the dome while rapidly tunneling into the ground and disappearing from sight, closing up the entrance of the tunnel as I shot up into the air, before glancing around at Caera and her clones.

"Oh? I didn’t expect you to emerge," Remarked one of them in surprise.

"Indeed, but I suppose it is the more logical option," Chimed in another.

"Yes, you’d effectively cornered yourselves in there."

"Wait, where’s the other one?"

"She isn’t in there."

"Ah, I see, she must have tried to escape underground, like she did last time."

"That won’t work...we’ve improved the barrier, there are no blind spots to escape through."

"How ironic...you said that we’d cornered ourselves in that dome, right? Well, that goes both ways...this moonlight barrier, you may think that you’ve trapped me in here with you. But you’re about to find out, that you’re the one trapped in here with me," I smiled icily, as a fiery, pale blue glow surrounded my body, right before I unleashed a massive eruption of Dragon Fire.

I then fired out a blazing wave of Dragon Fire from my mouth, while simultaneously shooting out flame blasts from my hands...I couldn’t do this with Terrastra around, and I wouldn’t be able to resort to such a reckless assault under normal circumstances since the collateral damage would be devastating.

But thanks to this moonlight barrier, I don’t have to worry about my flames spreading out too far...instead, they’ll be concentrated within the confines of this barrier.

And I’m immune to the effects of Dragon Fire, these flames can’t burn me...but the same doesn’t apply to her. The only problem for me is that I won’t be able to breathe since my flames will burn up all the air within the space...but she’ll be affected by that too.

It wasn’t long before all her clones disappeared, their bodies set ablaze by my flames, while the original weaved around the space within the barrier frantically, chopping off chunks of her body every time my flames so much as grazed her, sweat pouring down her face as she began gasping for air.

Suffocation cannot kill an Elder Vampire, but it can significantly disorient them...and since she’s moving around so much while I’m staying mostly still, she’ll run out of breath much sooner than I will.

As her right leg got set ablaze and she quickly sliced it off, I smirked to myself as I saw her reaching for and pulling out the Magic Item she’d used to cast the barrier, this time using it to take down the barrier.

I swiftly began reabsorbing my flames as the barrier suddenly disappeared, before they could spread too far, while zipping through the air towards her at top speed, while she was still disoriented.

She began to fly away as I closed in on her, but with the barrier gone, not to mention her dazed state, she was too slow, as I whipped my claws across and sliced off her right arm, severing it with the Magic Item in its grasp.

She quickly formed a wall of blood in front of herself as I raised my hand and unleashed a sharp burst of blue flames, blowing her away as I finished reabsorbing the flames that had spread, replenishing my energy.

I then picked up the Magic Item as her arm regenerated, keeping a close eye on her as she warily backed away.

"So, what will you do now? You can no longer cast the moonlight barrier...and without your full power, do you really think you can defeat me?" I inquired with a raised eyebrow.

"Yes, it would be foolish to deny that I’ve been defeated here," She replied with a wry smile, as she took out another Magic Item with two glowing lights and pressed a button on it, a third light glowing as her eyes widened slightly in surprise, "Oh, my, it would seem that two of the others have already-...hm, it appears our plans have been derailed. I have no choice but to retreat."

"Oh, no, you’re not getting away that easily!" I snapped and began to chase after her as she turned around and flew away rapidly.

"And you will not catch up to me that easily," She replied with a smile, before forming twelve clones behind her to hold me off.

Damn it...I can’t get to her without getting through them first. And by the time I destroy all of them, she’ll be too far to catch up to...this’ll be tough, without a barrier to contain my flames, I can’t recklessly unleash them out like I did earlier.

Suddenly, a barrage of rapid earth shards came shooting out, the clones scattering to evade the incoming projectiles.

"Looks like the original is retreating...I’ll hold off the clones, you go after her!" Called out Terrastra, as she emerged from the ground.

"No...even if do manage to catch up to her, she’ll just make more clones as soon as you destroy any of these ones, it’ll be pointless to chase her. Instead, let’s work together to destroy the clones and then head out to provide backup to the other places under attack," I responded, after taking a moment to think it over.

I highly doubt she was the only Elder Vampire to come to Arcadia, I’m sure at least a few others came here too...and there’s a chance that things aren’t going so well for whoever’s fighting them...
