"Oh, wow, that was much sooner than I thought," Prysm remarked in surprise, as I let her out, "I expected you to keep me cooped up in there for at least several hours."

I’d booked a single bed room in this inn, with one double bed...I mean, it’d be suspicious if I opted for one with two beds, so I compromised with a single, larger bed. It also had an attached bathroom, a small table with a chair, the bed and a worn down closet.

It had a creaky ceiling fan overhead, a couple of florescent lights, one of which was flickering a bit, and a small fridge. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s clean and comfortable enough. Plus it’s just four coppers for a night, which is dirt cheap.

Earlier, I’d passed by some hotels and inns that had prices ranging from one silver per night all the way upto five gold per night. I’m not interested in extravagant luxury, not to mention the fact that picking a fancy hotel would be suspicious.

Anyway, as I got to the room, I set the paper bag filled with meat wraps on the small table, took a seat and then brought Prysm out. And the first thing she does is insult me, kind of.

"If you want, you can go right back in for a few hours, it’s no skin off my back. In fact, I welcome it," I replied dryly.

"Huh? No way, don’t put me back! Hey, something smells really good," She responded, her nostrils twitching as she sniffed around.

"Yeah, I got some food. You can have the leftovers once I’m full," I stated, as I took out one of the wraps and bit into it, before adding while munching, "You can sit on the floor, by the way."

"Hey, that’s so mean!" She protested indignantly, sitting down as she stared at the food longingly.

Huh, she doesn’t seem to mind the sitting on the floor part so much. Well, she had no qualms about sitting on the floor back in that dirty basement I was imprisoned in, come to think of it.

"Hm, is it?" I muttered absent-mindedly, as pure deliciousness washed over my taste buds.

Mm, tastes like lamb...it’s so gooood, the meat is nice and juicy, and the sauce is great too, it’s got a slight tang and spice to it. And the lettuce is crisp and fresh, what a great texture...but it’s also kinda hefty and even one’s definitely gonna be filling, maybe buying six was a bit overboard.

Alright, new plan. I hate to do this, but it looks like it’s going to be Prysm’s lucky day. I mean, it’s better than letting any of this food go to waste, after all. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

"Can’t I just have a few bites for now?" She requested, shaking my shoulder.

"Fine, I guess I can do a compromise...I’ll eat half of one and then give you the other half before moving on to the next one," I decided, as I took a few more bites until about half the wrap was left and then handed it to her.

"Okay!" She nodded eagerly, as she took the wrap from me and chomped into it.

"Careful not to spill any. If you do, clean it up yourself," I remarked, as I dug into the next one...I think this one’s pork.

"Stop treating me like a small child," She grumbled as she munched on the wrap, her eyes lighting up, "This is tasty!"

Hm, I think I’ll give her a bigger portion of the wrap I’m currently eating...it’s good, but I preferred the first one. I’m not much into pig meat, I wasn’t in my previous life either.

And yes, that includes bacon. I just don’t like food that are overly fatty or greasy, and just so we’re clear, I don’t dislike pig meat, I just don’t really care for it.

"Here you go," I remarked, as I handed her the pork wrap.

"Mm? Oh, this looks like more than half!" She grinned cheerfully, as she swiftly wolfed down the lamb wrap and took it from me.

"Let’s see which one I draw next...," I muttered with a sense of anticipation, as I picked up the paper bag and reached into it.

"Hey, there’s grease on the bottom of the bag. It dripped onto your trousers," She informed me, as I took out the next wrap.

Huh?

"Ah, crap, just great...," I muttered in exasperation, as I stared down at the grease stain on my pants, around the middle of my thigh.

Hm, wiping it will only spread the grease...let’s try something else. I focused and formed a small drop of water, before controlling it and floating it down towards the grease stain.

I then let it engulf the stain, leaving it there for a couple of seconds before floating it back up, getting rid of the stain. Nice, it worked! Way to go, me!

"Heh, you were warning me not to spill anything, but it looks like you did so instead," Smirked Prysm smugly, before adding, "Well, it looks like-...ow! Stop!"

"Keep your voice down, you’re to stay hidden and avoid being seen or heard by anyone else," I sighed, as I continued grinding my knuckles against the top of her head.

"Stop doing that first, it really hurts!" She responded in a sharp whisper.

"Hm, I should’ve gotten something cold to drink as well, too bad," I mused thoughtfully, as I let her go and took out a bottle of water from my Pocket Dimension.

"What are you gonna do after this?" She asked me, as she nommed on her wrap with a slight pout.

"Let’s see...I think I’ll go to the Adventurer Guild. I did consider resting up, but now that I’ve got some good food in me, I feel like I’ve got plenty of energy to spare. So, once you’re done eating, it’s back into the Pocket Dimension you go," I informed her.

"Fine. But could you buy me some clothes and shoes? Wearing big t-shirts and shoes that don’t fit isn’t great, and my sash is pretty dirty too," She sighed as she stared down at herself.

Yeah, she’s got a point, I suppose. Hm, but me going out to shop for her sounds like a real pain. Should I have her disguise herself and send her out to buy whatever she wants herself?

No, that could be risky...her being recognized isn’t the concern, it’s more than shop owners might find it strange to see a ten year old girl wandering around by herself.

I’m on the taller side for my age, so I can probably pass for at least a fifteen or sixteen year old. But she’s the opposite, she looks younger than she is, she’s kinda got a baby face.

"Okay, I guess I can do that," I relented with a sigh.

"Mhm, don’t forget," She nodded, as she finished up her wrap.

"Say that again, and I just might," I informed her dryly.

"You’re really petty, huh?" She responded, as she licked some sauce off her fingers.

"Keep talking and you’ll find out."

Before much longer, we finished up the food, and after she went to the bathroom, I tossed her back into my Pocket Dimension and headed out.

After getting some directions to a cheap clothing store, I snuck into an alley after making sure the coast was clear and changed my top and put on a wig, just to be safe.

I then made my way to the clothing store, bought a bunch of girls’ clothes that looked like they’d fit her, plus a few pairs of shoes as well. Hm, I should probably also get some armor for myself.

Once I was done shopping for regular clothes, I hid again and took off the wig, along with changing back into the shirt I was wearing before. I then asked for directions to a place that sells armor and made my way there. I bought a bunch of light but durable leather armor sets, some of which actually kinda looked like fairly regular clothes.

I decided to get a couple of sets for Prysm as well, going with male armor that had adjustable straps. After all, buying sets that are far too small for me would be suspicious, since I want people to think I’m traveling alone. If it’s too big for her, that’s fine, she can just grow into it.

Once all that was settled, I headed for the Adventurer Guild after changing into one of the new sets of armor I bought, feeling a bit nervous as I approached the entrance. This’ll be my first time going into a Guild since my appraisal.

I pushed open the doors and stepped in, several glances being thrown my way as I walked inside, the doors shutting behind me. Alright, here goes, I guess. I approached the reception desk, getting the attention of the receptionist.

"Yes? How can I help you? Are you lost?" She greeted me with a smile.

Well, that wasn’t patronizing at all. I better play nice though, don’t want to get a bad rep.

"No, I’m not. I’d like to register as an Adventurer," I replied with a polite smile.
