Aaron Wyatt looked coldly at Leona Grant, pulling Annabelle Linton into his embrace. His lips curled into a provocative smirk. "You must be Annabelle’s ex-husband, right? Why can’t Annabelle and I be together? And since when do we need your permission?"

Annabelle Linton felt a little resistant to being held in his arms.

But given the situation, pushing Aaron Wyatt away would surely embarrass him, so she didn’t move. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞

She glared at Leona Grant, her brow furrowed in anger. "Leona Grant, is there something wrong with you? We haven’t had anything to do with each other for a long time. What’s the meaning of this?"

When Leona Grant saw that she wasn’t struggling at all and was even siding with an outsider, the veins on his forehead bulged.

’So they really are together. Just as I thought, they’ve had feelings for each other all along!’

Especially that "ex-husband" from Aaron Wyatt. No matter how he heard it, the word grated on him.

It made him feel like he was the third wheel, the one intruding on their relationship.

’He was her husband, damn it!’

"Annabelle Linton, did you force a divorce on me because of him?!"

He glared at her, roaring irrationally, "For him? You sacrificed everything just to fight me over a divorce? In what way was I not good to you that you had to leave me? Do you know what I’ve been through these past few days?

I’ve been thinking about you every single day! Thinking about us remarrying, about building a life together again! And what do you do, huh?"

He glared at her maliciously, his face sinister. "You abandon your husband at home, not caring if he lives or dies, only to run out and be with another man? Cuddling in broad daylight! How could you do this to me, huh?!"

Annabelle Linton was so utterly floored by his words she wanted to scream.

A laugh, born of pure fury, escaped her. "Are you fucking out of your mind? We’re divorced, okay? Whether you live or die has nothing to do with me! Are you an idiot, running over here to spout nonsense? Why don’t you get the hell out of my sight?"

"No!" Leona Grant roared, his voice dripping with arrogance. "I forbid my woman from seeing other men. You, Annabelle Linton, can only be my woman. Anyone who dares to lay a claim on you gets one word: death!"

Aaron Wyatt’s expression was grim. He stared at Leona Grant, his eyes filled with a chilling frost, radiating an icy aura.

This was the first time Annabelle Linton had ever seen him look like this.

Aaron Wyatt looked at Leona Grant, his eyes devoid of warmth as he mocked, "Annabelle has already divorced you. Don’t you understand that you two have nothing to do with each other anymore?

When she loved you with her entire heart, you hurt her time and time again because of that other woman. Now she has someone who will love her more, someone who lets her live the life she wants, and you show up again, refusing to let her go. Do you really see any point in this?"

Leona Grant’s heart clenched as he heard those words.

’Yes, he knew he had wronged her. He knew he had hurt her.’

’He understood all the reasoning. He knew what he was doing was wrong, but what was he supposed to do?’

’Give her up? Let her marry another man and have children with him?’

’He couldn’t do it!’

Leona Grant sneered, looking at him with disdain. "Who the hell do you think you are, talking to me like that? What happens between my wife and me is none of your business! The divorce was because you seduced her, wasn’t it?! I haven’t settled the score with you for that yet, so you’d better know your place!"

He narrowed his eyes, a dangerous glint flashing within them. "In my eyes, crushing you would be easier than squashing an ant. I can’t be bothered to lay a hand on you, so don’t force me."

Annabelle Linton had reached her limit. Glaring at him in a rage, she raised her voice. "I’m telling you for the last time, I am not your wife! We have nothing to do with each other! We are divorced! Now, get out! Do you hear me?!"

Strangely, in the midst of his anger, Leona Grant calmed down.

He looked at Annabelle Linton, the corners of his mouth suddenly lifting into a handsome curve.

His already uncommonly handsome face, now shrouded in the night, exuded a deadly gentleness. He looked at Annabelle Linton, his gaze as soft as still water, his expression filled with a tenderness and deep affection she had never seen from him before.

Annabelle Linton had a bad feeling.

And just as she thought, upon hearing his next words, the color drained from both Annabelle Linton’s and Aaron Wyatt’s faces—
