Revenge Begins: Reincarnated as a Hated Idol! - Chapter 111: Set’s Warm Welcome
Two days later, Aren and Lisa arrived on My Heiress’s set.
The shooting location was Sun University, one of the top five universities of the country, offering top engineering, medical, law, and technical courses to its students.
Almost all the dramas produced by Sun Films were generally shot in this university. Thus, it was a famous tourist place, having been featured in many popular dramas that have been internationally hit.
Since the campus was ginormous, the shooting could take place in one area without disturbing the others, even when the classes were still ongoing.
The only condition was that the students’ faces shouldn’t be identifiable in the final cut of the drama unless they were background artists.
Aren and Lisa, for the first time, didn’t arrive in a taxi.
Instead, they arrived in Aren’s new car, Sun Group’s luxury car, SM Charem, priced at 3 million Siera.
It wasn’t ridiculously expensive but was luxurious and classy enough to make the heads turn.
It was a car that wouldn’t be looked down upon by others, yet, at the same time, it wouldn’t be worth showing off. Many actors owned cars worth tens of millions.
However, since Aren wasn’t going to spend money on cars, this was a one-time purchase, so he was generous while spending money.
He had also gotten a customized metallic ghost midnight-purple shade for the car’s color, making it one of a kind.
And thanks to Ember’s secretary taking care of everything, she even got him a customized VIP number plate along with his new driving license.
Still, the one to drive this car to the shooting location was Arol, his new bodyguard. He was starting his job from today.
As soon as the car pulled in front of the university, everyone’s gazes immediately went to the two individuals exiting the car, wondering about their identity.
Most of the people were students, so they were more amazed by the car. It wasn’t every day that someone pulled up in a car to their university.
Aren and Lisa were wearing their masks and caps so the students could only guess who they were.
Meanwhile, the assistant director of My Highness’ crew was already waiting outside the university to welcome them.
He immediately recognized them and approached: "Welcome, Mr. Aren and Miss Lisa. The director is excited to meet you. Please follow me."
Arol took the car to park it in the parking area while Aren and Lisa were escorted to the northeastern part of the campus by the assistant director.
There, the director and the screenwriter both noticed the assistant director walking in front of a masked male and female, not needing any introductions to know who they were.
They both immediately left whatever they were doing and approached Lisa and Aren with polite smiles.
Here, the power dynamic was different. Aren and Lisa held the power on this set due to their higher popularity and close relations with the producer, Ember Sunburn.
Instead of them needing to greet the director and the others, the director greeted them first.
"Mr. Aren and Miss Lisa, I welcome you to the first day of shooting." The director laughed in a friendly tone, extending his hand for a handshake.
After shaking Aren’s and Lisa’s hands, he continued, "I’m the director, Lian Parks. Some of my dramas had made it into the rankings. You might’ve heard of them. Night of the Maiden, Hotel Enigma, Bride of the Dead, Ice—"
"Just stop already," the screenwriter interjected. "Are you planning to list all your dramas?"
"Haha, sorry..." The director scratched the back of his head embarrassedly.
"So?" His eyes shone with anticipation as he cast his gaze on Aren and Lisa. "Have you heard or watched any of my dramas?"
To be honest, despite having a moderate amount of success with his dramas, he wasn’t an established name in the industry.
He wasn’t a sought-after name.
No one would watch a drama just because he was the director. Moreover, no production approached him to get him to direct their dramas.
It would always be him who had to either get projects through his agency or find a writer’s script to pitch to the platforms.
This time, it had been the latter.
The screenwriter, Dallas Huang, was someone who had collaborated with him many times before. They were a duo who were well known by platforms since they often pitched dramas together.
This time as well, they had done the same.
However, most of the time, their dramas received low budgets, destined to a release slot that was not popular. With no promotions or marketing, their dramas only managed to hit moderate viewership and popularity, thus being remembered only as an addition to the platform’s library.
They hoped that maybe Aren or Lisa might’ve watched any of their dramas. It would at least give them a sort of acknowledgement.
However, both Aren and Lisa shook their heads.
"I’m sorry. I haven’t watched many dramas since I was always busy," Aren said politely.
He was a popular idol before transitioning to acting. It was well known how much idols have to practice and perform, not giving them time to indulge in dramas.
Understanding that, they turned to Lisa to hear her answer.
"I only watched popular dramas since I didn’t have much free time."
To both the director, Lian Parks, and the screenwriter, Dallas Huang, Lisa’s words hurt more.
Wasn’t she admitting that their projects weren’t successful?
As the director’s expression fell, the screenwriter chipped in, trying to divert the conversation.
"Oh, silly me. I haven’t introduced myself." He laughed awkwardly, "I’m the screenwriter of My Highness. I was the one who wrote the script. I’m honored that you both liked my script and chose to play a role in it." He bowed politely.
Lisa was the one to speak enthusiastically, her eyes gleaming. "No, sir. It’s us who are honored to get to play the leads in your story. I instantly liked the story when I read it. Moreover, since you’ve made the female lead’s part more significant than the male leads’, I was more inclined to choose it."
"Hahaha, thank you for your kind words, Miss Lisa." Dallas Huang beamed at her words. "You have made my day."
He then turned to Aren, casting his expectation-filled gaze at Aren. He was basically waiting for Aren’s praise.
Aren wasn’t planning on saying anything at first, but since he kept staring at him with those hopeful eyes, he had to say something.
"To be honest, I overlooked the script at first, dismissing it. But when Lisa showed interest, I looked at it again and realized that it was a great story and I’d like to play the lead in it. Thanks for giving me this opportunity."
At this moment, an annoyed voice called out to the director. "Sir Lian, how long are you going to waste time talking with those late-comers? Please begin the shoot."
Everyone turned to look at the man who spoke in that irritated tone.
It was a man in his late twenties, playing the second male lead in the drama. He saw Aren and Lisa, and instead of greeting them, "Hmph!" he snorted with an arrogant expression and turned away, returning to wherever he came from.
