Chapter 132: Lawyer’s Counterstrike

The lawyer narrowed his eyes and continued:

"You fabricated a kidnapping call. You forced each and every bodyguard to leave alongside you. Then you wasted hours, keeping them occupied while searching random areas. And not once did you call Mr. Arol. He was the one taking care of Miss Ariana after all, so shouldn’t you have called him to confirm if she had really been kidnapped?"

Juan Moss sighed, shaking his head regretfully before answering:

"Yes, I’ve let down my boss. Even now I feel guilty for making such a mistake that day. If only I hadn’t been fooled by that call."

"So are you saying that the call you received was real?" The lawyer asked, unconvinced.

Juan nodded. "Yes. It was real. Why would I fabricate a kidnapping call? I was really worried for young Miss’s safety and hurriedly gathered my brothers to go rescue her before the boss could find out and get worried. But who would’ve known that my good intentions would result in such an outcome?"

Juan heaved a heavy sigh.

"But that still doesn’t explain why you insisted on taking everyone with you. Wouldn’t it have been better to leave at least two bodyguards to protect Mr. Aren?"

The lawyer asked as Juan immediately responded, as if he were ready for this question.

"I didn’t want to take a risk. I had no idea of how many kidnappers we would have to face. I couldn’t be careless. I had to make use of every resource I had at my disposal to ensure young miss’ safety."

Juan paused momentarily and then added, "Moreover, the boss was already at home. I was sure that he would remain safe in his house. How could I have known that leaving only for a few hours would cause the boss’ death?"

Juan clenched his fists in regret as the lawyer asked another question.

"Then why didn’t you call Mr. Arol to confirm if Miss Ariana had really been kidnapped?"

"Because I was terrified for young miss, it slipped my mind. All I could think of was to save her."

"You searched for hours, and it didn’t cross your mind once to call Mr. Arol?"

Juan shook his head. "I don’t know why it didn’t cross my mind. I don’t have any answer."

The lawyer nodded and moved on to the next question.

"After Mr. Aren died, the bodyguards were threatened to hide the fact that it was you who led them away. All the blame was pinned on Mr. Arol. Meanwhile, you were conveniently employed by Titan Crest Entertainment soon after. How do you explain this?"

"I was afraid of losing my reputation if the truth came out."

Juan replied with an answer already prepared for him by Neil’s lawyer.

"So, I asked Miss Iris for help. She was the one who helped me keep the fact hidden. It was also her who employed me under Titan Crest Entertainment."

"And why would she do that for you?" The lawyer curiously asked.

"I used to be close with her when she was still a kid. I used that connection to ask for her help."

The legendary lawyer asked a few more questions before allowing him to leave.

This questioning session was just the starter; the main course would be served now.

He handed the judge the DNA test results, addressing him.

"Your honor, those are the DNA test results, revealing the relationship between Mr. Neil and Miss Amelia. I will request you to announce the results for everyone present here, including the ones watching live."

Every viewer had been waiting for this moment.

Even Aren felt his heart pounding in excitement and nervousness.

It was solely Neil who said that Ariana wasn’t Aren’s daughter, but what if...

Just what if he was lying?

What if Neil only wanted to see Aren despair?

At least this DNA test would clear this small doubt in his heart.

The judge looked at the report before announcing loudly.

"Neil Valcourt..."

"Is the father of Ariana Frost!"

The legendary lawyer smiled, knowing that this was the biggest proof of the affair between Neil Valcourt and Amelia.

Meanwhile, a tear streamed down Aren’s face. Despite expecting it, he was still deeply hurt.

Neil and Amelia, on the other hand, didn’t know how to react, lowering their heads ever so slightly to hide their expressions.

Next, the lawyer called Amelia for questioning.

"Miss Amelia, now that your affair with Mr. Neil has been proven. Why don’t you come clean?"

Amelia, however, was ready with the answer. Neil’s lawyer had instructed her to speak.

"Yes. I was Neil’s childhood lover. We had an affair even after I got married. But..."

She raised her head with a righteous shine in her eyes.

"My husband’s love changed me and won me over. I ended my relationship with Neil and remained loyal to solely my husband. So even though I had an affair with Neil two decades ago, we are only friends now."

The lawyer smiled curiously and asked, "So you are claiming that your husband didn’t discover your affair and he wasn’t killed by Mr. Neil, right?"

Amelia nodded. "Yes. How could I even think of having an affair on our wedding anniversary?"

The lawyer allowed her to leave before addressing the judge.

"Your honor, I think it is evident that Neil Valcourt and Miss Amelia killed Mr. Aren."

"Objection!"

Even though Neil’s lawyer objected, the judge overruled his objection, allowing the legendary lawyer to continue:

"The proofs are before us, your honor. First, Mr. Neil and Miss Amelia had a child together whom Mr. Aren raised as his own without even knowing the truth."

"It wouldn’t be strange for Miss Amelia to be having an affair with her child’s real father on their wedding anniversary."

"Moreover, Juan Moss conveniently led away all the bodyguards, leaving Mr. Aren helpless."

"They even threatened the bodyguards to keep their mouths shut so that nothing comes out in the investigation."

"Lastly, the investigation was wrapped up quickly thanks to Mr. Karter being incharge of the case."

"Mr. Karter had been incharge of both murder cases, and each time, the investigation was wrapped early."

"Even in investigations, it has come to light that Mr. Neil bribed Mr. Karter on many occasions, sending expensive gifts his way."

"Even on the day Mr. Aren died, Mr. Neil sent an enormous bribe to Mr. Karter."

"Isn’t it as clear as spring water? There is motive, crime, and criminal, all piecing together to form the perfect puzzle."

"Objection!" Neil’s lawyer yelled, standing up. "There is no evidence. These are just speculations."

"Evidence. Hah," the legendary lawyer scoffed. "Don’t worry, I have evidence."

His smile widened confidently.

"An evidence strong enough to prove Neil Valcourt’s crime and end this trial today for good."
