Chapter 61: Chapter 61: The Woman Who Snatched a Plot of Land from Lu Yunque

"Oh, this? I use a Rose Essential Oil I make myself. You can’t buy it in stores."

Yun Zijin didn’t intend to hide anything. Although the recipe came from Randomly Spend, she really did make it herself.

A large part of its success was admittedly thanks to the sterile production lab, but from selecting the ingredients to processing them, she did everything with her own two hands. That part was no lie.

"You make your own Rose Essential Oil? And you don’t use anything else?"

Su Mengyao thought Yun Zijin must be telling some kind of fairy tale. How could anyone maintain such a perfect complexion with just a bottle of Rose Essential Oil?

"Does properly cleansing my face before using the Rose Essential Oil count? Oh, and I occasionally go to a beauty salon for some facials, but not often."

’Based on her own experience, one trip to the beauty salon probably wasn’t even as effective as a single application of her Rose Essential Oil.’

But she would never say that out loud.

’If people found out about the ridiculously powerful effects of her Rose Essential Oil, they’d all be lining up to buy it from her. If that happened, she might as well just stay home and make the stuff all day instead of going out to complete her system missions.’

"Really? Which beauty salon do you have a membership at? I’ll get one too!"

Su Mengyao, of course, gave all the credit to the beauty salon.

’How could a salon with results this good exist, and she hadn’t discovered it yet?’

’Su Mengyao felt like all the money she’d spent over the years had been a complete waste.’

"It’s just the Qili Women’s Beauty Salon in Jinsheng Mall. I’ve put several million into my account there."

Yun Zijin was telling the truth.

But Su Mengyao was a little suspicious. She had, of course, been to Qili Women’s Beauty Salon, but the results were about the same as any other salon, nowhere near enough to achieve Yun Zijin’s level of flawless perfection.

The two chatted as they quickly made their way down to the villa’s first floor, where several people were already sitting with Wu Zicheng and Sheng Yang.

Yun Zijin and Su Mengyao were just considering whether to find another spot when a sharp-eyed Wu Zicheng waved in their direction.

"Sister Yun! Su Mengyao, over here!"

Hearing Wu Zicheng’s call, the others sitting on the sofa all stretched their necks to look over.

They had all seen Su Mengyao at various banquets many times before, but this was their first time seeing Yun Zijin.

"Hey, rein it in, you guys. That’s my Sister Yun!"

One look at their expressions and Sheng Yang knew what they were thinking.

’Sister Yun was a woman even *he* wouldn’t dare make a move on; these other guys were even less qualified.’

"Yeah, yeah, we know. She’s the sole investor in your bar! We get it."

Regardless of whether they truly understood what Sheng Yang was trying to say, they at least schooled their expressions and didn’t act strangely in front of Yun Zijin.

As Yun Zijin and Su Mengyao walked over, the guys eagerly made room for them.

Once everyone was seated, Sheng Yang began to introduce the men to them (mainly for Yun Zijin’s benefit):

"Sister Yun, this is Lu Yunfeng, Brother Lu’s cousin. This is Li Yue Xuan, Brother Li’s cousin. And this is Fu Yang, Brother Fu’s cousin." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Hearing Sheng Yang’s introduction, Yun Zijin raised an eyebrow.

’So this is just another little clique from the Four Great Families!’

’But with Wu Zicheng included, and with Sheng Yang being Sheng Hao’s actual brother while the others were just cousins, the social hierarchy was immediately clear.’

"Hello, everyone. I’m Yun Zijin."

"I don’t need an introduction, do I? We’re always bumping into each other."

Su Mengyao said with a smile.

"Hello, Sister Yun!"

They all spoke in unison, so loudly it felt like they might bring the villa’s ceiling down.

Yun Zijin was at a loss for words. But since they were greeting her with such sincerity, she couldn’t just ignore them completely.

Yun Zijin gave them a slight nod, which counted as a greeting.

"I have to go mingle with the other guests. You all eat, drink, and have a good time!"

After all, Wu Zicheng was the man of the hour. There were other guests at his birthday party, so he couldn’t just stand around chatting with them.

Lu Yunfeng and the others all looked at Yun Zijin with a hint of scrutiny in their eyes. After all, they had all heard the story of how Yun Zijin single-handedly snatched a plot of land right out from under their older cousins’ noses.

They had long wanted to meet her, but never had the chance.

Of all the people they knew, only Sheng Yang was acquainted with Yun Zijin, but they had never managed to arrange an introduction.

They never expected to meet her here at Old Wu’s birthday party.

"I’ve been hearing about Sister Yun for a while now. I kept meaning to ask Sheng Yang to set up a meeting, but who’d have thought we’d meet today at Old Wu’s birthday party."

"You wanted to meet me?"

Yun Zijin was a little surprised. ’I haven’t done anything to make myself famous throughout Dijing, have I?’

"Hah! It’s about the Lu Family’s charity auction. You haven’t forgotten about that plot of land, have you, Sister Yun?"

That land had originally been put up by the Lu Family to build hype for the West Suburb Resort Village project. No one expected Yun Zijin to swoop in and snatch it away.

Of everyone there, Yun Zijin was probably the only one with that much nerve.

But Sheng Yang and the others were also surprised that the Lu Family didn’t retaliate against Yun Zijin for it.

Speaking of the West Suburb Land, Yun Zijin felt a wave of exasperation. She really hadn’t understood the situation back then and had been a little too quick to raise her paddle.

’But that’s all water under the bridge now. Didn’t I end up leasing the land to the Lu Family anyway? The end result was the same.’

"My bad,"

Yun Zijin said with a playful shrug.

Su Mengyao had been confused at first, but it finally clicked. They were saying that Yun Zijin had snatched a plot of land the Lu Family had its eye on, right in front of Lu Yunque himself.

Now, the way Su Mengyao looked at Yun Zijin wasn’t quite the same.

"Girl, you’re incredible!"

This was something countless people in Dijing wanted to do but didn’t dare—and couldn’t—yet Yun Zijin had actually pulled it off.

’No wonder Sheng Yang calls her Sister Yun, and no wonder these other scions of the Four Great Families are all looking at her with such adoration.’

’So it was all because she beat Lu Yunque, fair and square?’

’The phrase "the kid your parents always compare you to" couldn’t even begin to describe how freakishly capable Lu Yunque was.’

’To think that he would one day be bested by Yun Zijin!’

’This was a historic moment! Su Mengyao deeply regretted not pestering her brother to take her to that auction.’

"What’s wrong? Do you have a grudge against Lu Yunque, to be so excited hearing that I beat him?"

Su Mengyao’s over-the-top reaction left Yun Zijin a bit baffled.

’Does Lu Yunque have some kind of special status? Why does everyone look at me so strangely when they find out I snatched the land from him?’

’She had to admit, for someone so young to hold the position of the Lu Family’s president so securely, Lu Yunque was clearly a formidable man. But still, this level of reaction seemed a bit much, didn’t it?’

"It’s not really that, but... it’s Lu Yunque! He’s the ’kid from next door’ our parents are always talking about.

Ever since I can remember, my parents have been drilling it into my head how amazing Lu Yunque is, constantly going on about his latest accomplishments. This is the first time I’ve ever heard of him losing at something, so I’m just a *little* bit excited!"
