Rich Parents Found Me After I Got a Tycoon System? Yeah, I'm Not Interested
Chapter 67: Winning the Race
The crowd in the stands was screaming wildly. Yun Zijin and Su Mengyao got swept up in the atmosphere and joined the frantic screaming.
At the starting line, the referee blew his whistle, raised the flag high, and then, with another shrill blast, swung it down sharply.
Su Jingyun’s and Xia Zhiyun’s cars shot forward simultaneously. The acceleration of the supercars proved to be absolutely crucial at this moment.
Xia Zhiyun fell behind by a slight margin as Su Jingyun pulled ahead, quickly taking the inside lane to speed through the turn.
Xia Zhiyun watched the Porsche 918 Spyder pull at least twenty meters ahead of him. His brow furrowed, and his foot instinctively pressed down harder on the accelerator.
"What is Xia Zhiyun doing? He’s accelerating into a turn instead of slowing down. Does he have a death wish?"
Su Mengyao often went with Su Jingyun to watch races. Although she never got behind the wheel herself, she could still offer a comment or two about many of the maneuvers.
And Xia Zhiyun’s move—accelerating into a turn instead of braking—was without a doubt a desperate gamble with his own life to pull ahead.
Hearing Su Mengyao, Yun Zijin also turned her attention to Xia Zhiyun’s car. Sure enough, she saw the Lamborghini Aventador accelerating through the turn.
Yun Zijin’s brow furrowed slightly as she recalled Su Mengyao’s words.
’Just for a twenty-million-yuan bet? Is it really worth risking your life?’
’Is the Xia Family really that desperate for money now?’
"Phew! Thank god nothing happened. That Xia Zhiyun really dodged a bullet."
Xia Zhiyun’s speed was incredible; he was through the turn in an instant. Though she didn’t much care for Xia Zhiyun, Su Mengyao didn’t want to see him get into a racing accident.
Besides, the person racing against him was her brother. If something happened, their family would find it hard to escape the blame, and who knows what kind of rumors people would spread.
Yun Zijin said nothing. To her, Xia Zhiyun’s life-or-death approach to a casual race was utterly childish.
The track they’d chosen wasn’t very long, and soon the race was nearing its end. The Lamborghini Aventador and the Porsche 918 Spyder were neck and neck. It was impossible to tell who the final victor would be until the very last second.
Su Mengyao excitedly pulled Yun Zijin down from the stands and to a prime viewing spot near the finish line, taking out her phone to record.
"AHHHHHHH!!! GO, BROTHER, GO!"
Su Mengyao’s scream erupted right next to Yun Zijin’s ear, making her wonder if the girl trained in opera.
’That shriek was loud enough to shatter eardrums.’
"Be careful! They’re going way too fast. Don’t get too close."
Yun Zijin grabbed the excited Su Mengyao, stopping her from running any closer. ’Coming down from the stands was already an unwise decision. Running toward the finish line is just asking for an accident.’
Su Mengyao listened and stopped moving forward, but her screaming didn’t cease.
The two supercars, one red and one white, appeared on the final straightaway almost simultaneously, their positions still fiercely contested.
The two cars shot past the finish line at nearly the exact same time as the referee’s flag came down with a sharp wave.
The winner had to be determined by a slow-motion replay.
At the last moment, the nose of the white Porsche 918 Spyder was just ahead of the red Lamborghini Aventador.
The result was clear.
"AHHHHHHH!!! You won, big bro!"
Su Mengyao couldn’t hold back any longer. She ran toward Su Jingyun and launched herself into his arms in a massive bear hug.
Yun Zijin also walked over to Su Jingyun. "Congratulations."
"Thanks! Stick around tonight, everyone. We’re celebrating at Yungong No. 1, my treat!"
Su Jingyun thanked Yun Zijin, then lifted his head and announced loudly to the rest of his crew.
Su Jingyun’s crew erupted in cheers. For many of them, a visit to Yungong No. 1 was a rare treat.
Over on the other side, Xia Zhiyun’s crew was not nearly as ecstatic.
Having lost the race, Xia Zhiyun’s expression was foul. It darkened even further when he saw Yun Zijin congratulating Su Jingyun. The rest of his crew didn’t dare to utter a word.
’Anyone who spoke up now would just get an earful. They didn’t want to be the ones to set him off.’
"Big bro, big bro! You’re in a great mood from winning, so about my bag..."
Although he had promised to buy her the bag if he lost, Su Mengyao figured that since he was so happy now, he might just agree to it on a whim.
’As long as she could get the bag, she was even willing to pay for it herself. She just needed to use his account to confirm her eligibility to purchase it.’
"Buy it! Go talk to the SA yourself. Once you’ve sorted it out, I’ll buy it for you!"
Flush with victory and in high spirits, Su Jingyun was ready to agree to anything his sister asked.
"Yay! Big bro is the best!"
Su Mengyao was so excited, you would’ve thought she was the one who’d won.
After composing himself, Xia Zhiyun walked over to Su Jingyun.
"Congratulations. Today’s twenty-million pot is yours."
After speaking, Xia Zhiyun glanced at Yun Zijin but said nothing more.
He knew Yun Zijin couldn’t stand the sight of him. It was better to stay silent than to say something she didn’t want to hear and get an earful for it.
’This was the first time she’d ever seen Xia Zhiyun so quiet,’ Yun Zijin thought, a little surprised.
’But his silence suited her just fine. It wasn’t as if they were on terms to exchange pleasantries anyway.’
Once the race was over, Su Jingyun led his crew from the track. The manager of Fengxing Club appeared and arranged for the day’s prize money to be transferred from the club’s account to Su Jingyun’s.
This was a rule at Fengxing Club. For any race held there, regardless of whether the pot was cash, a physical prize, or something else entirely, it was held by the club before the start. After the race, the club would hand over the pot to the winner.
The loser, meanwhile, was responsible for paying the fees for use of the venue and for the club’s service of holding the pot.
In other words, not only had Xia Zhiyun lost ten million today (each racer put up ten million for a total pot of twenty million), but he also had to pay the track usage fee and the pot-holding fee.
Talk about adding insult to injury.
After leaving Fengxing Club, Su Jingyun led the group to Yungong No. 1.
Just as they entered Yungong No. 1, they ran into Creach, who was passing by. Su Jingyun smoothly stepped forward to greet him. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
"Manager Creach!"
"Ah! Little Su President! What brings you here today?"
Creach had been about to step forward and greet Yun Zijin, but she stopped him with a look.
Then, hearing Su Jingyun’s greeting, he seamlessly shifted his attention and responded with enthusiasm.
’The boss doesn’t want her identity revealed. As her subordinate, it’s my duty to keep her secret safe.’
"My luck was good today. I won a race at Fengxing Club, so we’ve come to your fine establishment for a victory party."
"This is my sister, and these are my friends."
Su Jingyun seized the opportunity to introduce Su Mengyao to Creach; it was always a good thing to be a familiar face to the manager.
For Yungong No. 1 to thrive in a city like Dijing, a place teeming with the rich and powerful, without anyone daring to cause trouble—one could only imagine the influence it wielded.
Although Creach was only the public-facing manager, his words were seen as representing the will of Yungong No. 1’s true owner.
In any case, there was certainly no harm in being on good terms with him.
