Roadmap to the Boundless Sky
Chapter 281Book 3, : Cold Gust
Due to Chen Chuan turning off his Realm Pass, the Resolution Department members couldn’t see his fight with Sancheng Huang, so they could only discuss it among themselves.
“I think Captain Chen turned off his Realm Pass because he wanted to ask that islander some questions. Does he actually believe him?”
“Do you actually think that Captain Chen didn’t consider the same thing?”
“Don’t worry. Captain Chen won’t let his guard down. All we need to do is wait. Fights between martial artists of their caliber never last long.”
As they talked among themselves, the law enforcers of the Resolution Department stationed around the area received an order telling them to pay attention to any changes up ahead.
After waiting for half an hour, they finally heard something different from up ahead, and they looked at their screens. Chen Chuan and Sancheng Huang were walking down the mountain together, though Sancheng Huang was one step behind.
They couldn’t see anything strange about the two of them. Their clothes weren’t damaged, and they were even talking. It seemed like they had become friends, so they had probably not fought after Chen Chuan turned off his Realm Pass.
Once they reached the foot of the mountain, they parted ways. The law enforcers saw Sancheng Huang bowing to Chen Chuan before walking off.
It was only after this that Chen Chuan turned on his Realm Pass and connected to the Resolution Department.
The one in charge of the operation immediately asked, “How was it, Captain Chen? Are you okay?”
“It’s nothing. Mr. Sancheng isn’t part of Ferris Wheel. He really did come here solely to spar with me,” Chen Chuan answered.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes,” Chen Chuan answered. Words could lie, but minds couldn’t, unless, of course, Sancheng Huang used a secret technique that could deceive him. But to martial artists like them, such an act was meaningless.
After all, they needed to be on guard at all times. Even during a normal spar, they wouldn’t give their opponent the chance to win. Since Sancheng Huang was also at the Third Limit, there was no way he wouldn’t understand this simple fact.
Once he finished talking to the Resolution Department, Chen Chuan returned to his car and left the place. As he was driving away, he cast a glance at Greenpeak Hill. It was a good place. If he ever wanted to spar against someone again, he would do it here.

Guanshang Jing, the security director of Ferris Wheel, had also been paying attention to the fight. However, since the Resolution Department had performed a domain lockdown in the area, Ferris Wheel was unable to see what was going on. They could only wait for the results.
“We got news, Mr. Guanshang!”
A security guard entered his office, and under Guanshang Jing’s questioning gaze, he said excitedly, “We saw Sancheng Huang leave Greenpeak Hill, and he was completely unharmed. Could it be that he won?”
Guanshang Jing played with the Pocket Dog in his hands and didn’t come to a preemptive conclusion. “We wait for news from the Resolution Department.”
In less than two minutes, they received word that Chen Chuan had driven off. Neither Chen Chuan nor Sancheng Huang appeared badly hurt.
There was only one explanation for this: Even if the two of them had fought, they had only sparred, not fought to the death.
Guanshang Jing didn’t like this answer, but he wasn’t overly disappointed. After all, Sancheng Huang’s arrival was not within their plans, and they had never hoped for him to kill Chen Chuan. The man’s laziness and caution were as famous as his fighting abilities.
A chilling light shone in Guanshang Jing’s eyes. They were the ones who needed to kill Chen Chuan. They shouldn’t be putting their hopes in another person’s hands.
Guanshang Jing looked at the screen above the table. It had a few photos that kept switching between each other.
They were the people Ferris Wheel needed to kill, of which only six remained. Two of them were in other Central Cities, while one was among the island nations. They had already sent people to kill them.
These people weren’t martial artists and only had security guards around them, so it wasn’t going to be difficult to kill them. The results were already set in stone.
The remaining three were Lei Guangcheng of the Cult Investigation Bureau, Chen Chuan, and Deng Xin, the former assistant of the company’s intelligence officer.
The first two were tough, while Deng Xin seemed like an easier target, but she had hidden herself in the Elephant Gang. Her boyfriend was not only a Third Limit martial artist, but also a senior member of the gang.
The Elephant Gang had fortified their territory so much that it was practically a fort. It was filled with sentry posts and shelters, more than one thousand core members, and more than ten thousand people. Because of this, it wasn’t easy to kill Deng Xin.
When the Swordfish Gang had a clash with the Elephant Gang, they tried to kill Deng Xin, but failed.
The senior members of the Elephant Gang were all from the same family and highly united against hostile external forces since they were foreigners. It was difficult for any outsider to dismantle the gang from within.
However, he had found something.
It wasn’t as if there was no conflict within the Elephant Gang. They were simply all squashed down by the boss Toge. He was the oldest of the Tu Family and the link connecting all the family members.
If he were to disappear, the Elephant Gang would descend into chaos.
Toge had gotten a lot of implants when he was building the gang in his younger days. Every month, he needed to inject a large amount of anti-mutation medicine at regular intervals. As he got older, the side effects of the medicine were getting stronger, and the Elephant Gang could no longer depend on themselves to get all the medicine he needed. This was a way to break the gang.
Guanshang Jing coldly stared at the remaining photos. With a squeeze, the Pocket Dog was squashed out of shape.
“We must kill all the company’s enemies!”

Deng Xin was in the Elephant Gang’s territory in Glowing Dew District when she felt a wave of terror, and the vase in her hands fell on the floor. The flowers and dirt got mixed together, and the flowers’ petals scattered everywhere.
“Why so careless?” Tonai, her boyfriend, walked over and fussed over her in a broken version of the Great Shun Republic’s national language. “Hurt?”
Deng Xin whirled around and hugged him before burying her face in his chest and saying anxiously, “We have to leave this place.”
She repeated the words several times in an emotional state.
When Tonai felt her shivering in his arms, he felt resigned. Deng Xin was a great girlfriend, but very jumpy. He caressed her smooth hair and comforted her, “I know you go through a lot, but I said that you don’t need to worry in Elephant Gang. I am here. We are surrounded by fortresses.
“We have guns, cars, martial artists, ten thousand plus members. Ferris Wheel no break in.”
After being comforted, Deng Xin fell silent, and Tonai lit up a cigarette. “I need to do some things. If you’re bored, watch TV. A’lie can take you around if you want to take a walk.”
He patted Deng Xin before grabbing a protective vest, putting it around her shoulders, and walking out.
Deng Xin watched him leave, then paced in the living room with her arms crossed. She was staying in a three-story house made of special bamboo. It was built in the style of the multi-roof buildings in Sheni Peninsula, and it had intricately designed glass windows and carved bamboo.
The house was brightly lit and had a domain entity beneath it. All sorts of bioweapons were stationed around the house. Tonai took great care of her, but she still didn’t feel safe.
At that moment, the bamboo curtain in front of the door swayed. Even though it was spring, the wind in March was pretty cold, so she felt a chill seep into her bones and leave her numb.
She was born with precognition. Whenever something bad was going to happen, the feeling of unease grew especially strong. It was the reason she was always able to avoid death.
She wasn’t the only one with such power. Her sister had been the same, but she was already...
Deng Xin sighed and rubbed her arms.
“Meow...”
A cat jumped in front of her. Its thick, gray-white fur was soft, and Deng Xin hugged it and patted its fur while it purred. It relaxed her a little.
Just then, she remembered something and turned on her Realm Pass to go to a niche channel. The people there were talking about Chen Chuan’s fight with Sancheng Huang, and most of them were arguing whether they even fought each other. If they did, then who won?
Ever since Ferris Wheel issued a public apology on the public platform, Deng Xin had been paying close attention to Chen Chuan. It was clear that he was also one of the people the company wanted dead.
Even if Ferris Wheel apologized, they weren’t going to stop trying to kill him. That company was never going to give up on a target as dangerous as he was.
Deng Xin scrolled to the Resolution Department’s contact channel and was about to connect to them when she hesitated. In the end, she didn’t click on the button. Instead, she said into her Realm Pass, “A’lie, look for someone for me. It’s the same guy from last time.”
A young voice replied through the Realm Pass. “Deng Xin, it’s not that I don’t want to help you, but that person has a resonator in charge of blocking his information. He almost discovered me last time.”
“Look for the resonator, then. I’d like to speak to him,” Deng Xin said.
“What are you planning to do?”
“Don’t ask. What did Tonai tell you? That I have to tell you everything that I want to do?” Deng Xin asked.
“Alright. Don’t get mad now. You’ll turn ugly if you get angry. Let me try. Whether it works or not depends on them, though. Just saying, if I don’t manage to contact them, it’s not my fault.”

While Chen Chuan was on his way back, he got a call from Photon Nest asking him to go to the company. It was good news regarding Dawncall.
Chen Chuan immediately went to Deep End District, and Zhuang Ke came out to meet him before bringing him to the cultivation area.
“Mr. Chen, the plan has been going smoothly. I’d even say that it went much better than I predicted. In just five days, mutated tissue has started growing in your pet’s body.”
Chen Chuan stared at Dawncall through the screen. It was laying in a ready-made nest, but it was clear he had grown a little. Its feathers were also more colorful than the last time he saw it.
“Your pet is brilliant. I’ve worked with plenty of pets before, but I seldom see ones so smart. It was very cooperative when exposed to various environmental stimulants and medicinal injections. It’s as if it knew what it needed to do. That’s why things progressed so quickly.
“Now that your pet has mutated tissue, we need to encourage its growth, but we need your input on how you wish for it to grow.”
Just as Chen Chuan was about to reply, Wu Bei contacted him. After apologizing to Zhuang Ke, Chen Chuan went to the side. “What’s wrong, Wu Bei?”
