Chen Chuan went to the entrance of the hall and stared at the marked location on the Realm Pass.

The next second, a loud explosion tore through the air, and Chen Chuan vanished from people’s gazes. Only a sunken floor and dust remained.

Since he had knocked aside most of the road blocks on his way, his trip went much smoother this time. In just a few breaths, he arrived at the location. At the same time, he released his biofield and located his target.

Toliu was the other Third Limit martial artist among the younger generation, which was why his biofield stood out. To Chen Chuan, he was like a lighthouse.

But Toliu was pretty cautious. He was hiding within a brick building located on high ground and passing messages through his Realm Pass or via other people acting as messengers. It was likely to prevent anyone from sniping him.

That made no difference to Chen Chuan.

Once he marked the spot, he lowered the center of his gravity and repositioned his body before stomping on the ground. It shattered as he shot toward the building.

Toliu was talking to someone on his Realm Pass. It seemed like he had received some kind of message, since his expression changed. At that moment, he sensed Chen Chuan and grabbed the submachine gun on the table.

Boom!

The wall in front of him broke down.

When Chen Chuan saw the muzzle trained on him, he didn’t bother to avoid it. Instead, with a single thought, he overlapped with his second self and continued rushing at Toliu without slowing down in the slightest.

Toliu snarled and pulled the trigger.

The world slowed down before their eyes. Chen Chuan jumped forward surrounded by flying debris and a piercing light behind him.

Sparks flew out of the submachine gun. The bullets shot out of the trembling muzzle, yet when they landed on Chen Chuan, they flattened on impact and bounced off.

When Toliu saw the calm eyes trained on him, fear appeared on his face, but it was soon replaced by ruthlessness. With a twist of his body, he grabbed a knife from his waist and rushed forward. Chen Chuan reached out and pushed his palm at the tip of the knife so quickly that it became deformed as the two forces from Chen Chuan and Toliu pushed against each other.

Snap!

It broke into several sections, but Chen Chuan continued pushing forward. He pressed Toliu’s knife-wielding hand, then pushed it against his face.

A powerful refined force gushed forth from his palm, and the entire building trembled.

Toliu was thrown back and crashed into the wall behind him. The floor broke when he landed, and he fell on the ground below. Then, debris fell from the wall.

Chen Chuan landed on steady feet and walked over to look down. Toliu lay sprawled on the ground.

His face, shattered hand, and broken knife were smashed together, and his limbs twitched periodically. The hit destroyed Toliu’s brain tissue. He could no longer be saved. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

Chen Chuan had checked, and Toliu had committed more than ten crimes, so he didn’t show any mercy.

As for whether Toliu had any ties with the Swordfish Gang or Ferris Wheel? Neither would leave behind any damning proof, so there was no need to ask any questions.

Since everything had happened too quickly, the people around them hadn’t even realized what had happened. All they heard was a gunshot, followed by the wall being blasted apart, as if a cannonball had struck it. A moment later, panicked and chaotic footsteps came running over.

Chen Chuan straightened up and tapped his Realm Pass. “I’m done here. The rest is up to you.”

***

Toman and the others couldn’t hide their shock.

Toliu was one of the strongest in the gang, and he had often fought with Tonai against the Swordfish Gang. Many times, he had come back from those skirmishes covered in gunshot and arrow wounds, but he was always able to recover in no time.

Even if the Swordfish Gang had Third Limit martial artists, when Toliu fought fearlessly, he could take on two Third Limit martial artists on his own. Yet Chen Chuan had been able to kill him right away, and they were not even counting the time he took to get there.

This was a huge surprise to them.

Was this the strength of the martial artists in the Resolution Department?

Toman and the other elderly men exchanged glances before explaining to the gang members through their Realm Passes that Toliu was the one who had worked together with the Swordfish Gang to kill Toge. His goal was to kill the boss, then incite them to attack the Swordfish Gang, who were ready for them. This was a trap.

As for whether this was the truth, it did not matter. In any case, Toliu was dead, and he couldn’t say anything to defend himself. Besides, considering all that Toliu had done, they were pretty sure they were not smearing his name.

In the meantime, Toman sent Tonai with some gang members to capture Toliu’s confidantes, but if they had already run away, there was no need to go after them. If they were still around, though, Tonai and his group were to immediately capture them. This way, they could keep this situation under control.

However, this matter had clearly not ended. Their boss had been murdered. There was no way they would just let it slide.

But they didn’t have enough firepower to fight against an external force right now, and they were so shorthanded that they would already be thanking their lucky stars if they could protect themselves. That was why they could only delay resolving this matter, regardless of whether they wanted to or not.

Chen Chuan left the gang’s territory. After waiting for a while beside his car, he saw Tonai walking out. “I’ll go with you now, Captain Chen.”

“No need,” Chen Chuan said.

Tonai was taken aback.

“Since the matter has been resolved, you don’t have to go back with me anymore. I looked for you because Miss Deng asked me to. Don’t worry. She’s at a safe place right now, and her life is not in danger for the time being. I don’t think this is the right time for her to return to the Elephant Gang, though. Once you finish settling things at the Elephant Gang, you can see her,” Chen Chuan said.

Tonai realized what had happened. “She asked for your help?”

He slapped his head in frustration. “I should have listened to her earlier. My grand-uncle wouldn’t have died then!”

“If Ferris Wheel wants to attack your gang, they’ll find a way. If they can’t kill your boss, they’ll kill someone else. You wouldn’t have been able to stop them,” Chen Chuan pointed out.

Tonai exhaled before looking up. “Thank you, Captain Chen.”

After hesitating for a while, he asked, “Did Xiao Xin tell you about her ability?”

Knowing what he was worried about, Chen Chuan said, “I didn’t tell my higher-ups that she has clairvoyance. Since she trusts me, I won’t tell anyone about it without her permission. I won’t mention it in my report either.”

Things might not necessarily be good for Deng Xin if word about her ability got out. She should be the one who decides who to tell about it.

“Thank you, Captain Chen. If you need my help in the future, please tell me. I won’t say no,” Tonai said gratefully.

“I’ll keep that in mind,” Chen Chuan said.

He didn’t mind being acquainted with Tonai, because he wasn’t the same as Toliu. Tonai was loyal. He only participated in gang fights and never did whatever he wanted because he was a martial artist. He was a rare gem in gangs and a great man, considering the general environment of the city.

After connecting with Tonai, Chen Chuan got into his car and drove away.

On his way back, he went over what had happened. It was a brilliant move by Ferris Wheel, because after Toge died, Toliu and his goons would definitely think of ways to seize power.

Meanwhile, Tonai had the older generation supporting him. If these two factions fought, regardless of who won or lost and regardless of who among the two Third Limit martial artists was the traitor, the Elephant Gang would end up damaged.

Chen Chuan was sure that Ferris Wheel had further plans, but he had already reported it to his higher-ups, and the department would think of it. Chen Chuan didn’t have to worry about it.

Most importantly, though, he finally learned why Ferris Wheel kept trying to kill him.

Now it was time for him to think about his counterattack.

Setting everything else aside, he was pretty sure that Azure Dragon would be interested in this.

Before any of that, Chen Chuan contacted Ni Qianqian. “Officer Ni, I’ve left the Elephant Gang.

“You’re at the department? Got it. Thanks for the help.”

This was his agreement with Ni Qianqian. She was to send Deng Xin to the department and keep her there as a witness. There, she wouldn’t need to worry about being in danger. As long as Deng Xin didn’t reveal her ability, she wouldn’t capture anyone’s attention. Once this matter was over, she could leave whenever she wanted.

Chen Chuan went back to the university. He had spent quite a lot of time dealing with these things and needed to seize every second left for his training.

He had to master the things Xue Shou taught him before April.

By now, he had grasped the basics of the Mind Shattering Hammer and Hollowed Heart Mark, but he was still quite awkward at using them. It was obvious when he fought against Sancheng Huang.

Chen Chuan had to use his superior physical abilities to overpower Sancheng Huang. When it came to the mental fight, he had been forced into a defensive position from the start. Whenever he tried to use mental energy, Sancheng Huang countered or fended against it.

Even so, Chen Chuan could tell that the two techniques were not ordinary. After all, Sancheng Huang didn’t want to get into a mental fight with him even though mental energy was his forte.

Chen Chuan’s great foundation played a role in this, but the techniques did it too. Once he could use them freely, he was sure that they would be even more powerful.

After he reached his room, he threw himself into training, and a few more days went by.

On the thirty-first, he went to the training center.

This was the last day of March. Since the lessons weren’t going to continue in April, it was the last lesson.

Chen Chuan had learned a lot from Chen Bitong during the lessons.

While most of them were ways to fight against the creatures in the merged space, he also learned how to fight better and a technique to negate powerful and fierce attacks. This could be used in any situation. As for the explosive refined force, as long as his physical body was strong enough, he could use it against other martial artists too.

As Chen Chuan pondered over this, Chen Bitong walked in.

The moment he saw that all the students had arrived, he went straight to the topic. “This is the last day, so I’m going to test you. I’ll submit the names of those who pass to the World Ring Defense System and tell them to prioritize you. You’ll also be rewarded.”
