Sage of Humanity
Chapter 1891 - 1889: Sky Asura World
Gui Yi wasn't the sort of woman with a particularly strong curiosity. She just asked that one casual question and then fell silent.
At the same time, tiny motes of light suddenly appeared in front of Lu Ye, then gathered and condensed. After only three breaths, they formed into a triangular, pitch‑black wooden plaque.
Lu Ye reached out and grabbed it; it felt warm and smooth in his hand, like jade.
"This is an Asura Authority Token. Only those who hold this token truly have the qualification to reside in the Asura Field." As Gui Yi explained, she also picked up her own Asura Authority Token.
This was without a doubt the reward the two of them had obtained for passing the trial just now.
"The Asura Authority Token has many uses within the Asura Field. The Asura Seals you gain from all kinds of tempering you undergo here will be recorded within it and used to exchange for resources. Don't lose it. If you do, you'll be immediately expelled from the Asura Field and barred from entering again for ten years."
Lu Ye nodded. "Got it."
"Sink your mind into it and leave your place of origin and your name in the Asura Authority Token," Gui Yi added.
Lu Ye followed her instructions at once, and very soon a few large characters appeared on the smooth token—on one face was engraved Nine Heavens World, on the other the two characters for Lu Ye.
This time he didn't use an alias. Although he completely could have, and the Asura Field did not forbid such things, there was simply no need.
In the past he had done that mainly because his strength wasn't enough. Now that he'd reached Moon Jade Late Stage, he counted as a not‑too‑small, not‑too‑large figure even in the stellar space; there was no need to keep hiding himself.
Over on Gui Yi's side, she likewise engraved her own origin and name onto her Asura Authority Token. It was clear this wasn't her first time entering the Asura Field; she had probably experienced this sort of situation many times already.
All of a sudden, a rushing, crackling sound rang out. Lu Ye turned his head to look around and saw the surrounding scene suddenly shatter like a broken mirror, countless fissures spreading out, then collapsing apart.
The world shifted once more. When Lu Ye came back to his senses, he had already returned to the stellar space.
Below him was a vast domain, and its dense domain aura rushed up to meet him.
Gui Yi was standing right beside him, conscientiously explaining, "This is the Sky Asura World. It's said to be the ancestral land of the Sky
Asura clan and the place where they rose to power. At present, however, it's the gathering place for all the cultivators who come to venture into the Asura Field. Virtually all cultivators who enter the Asura Field will gather here. There are Constellation cultivators, Moon Jade cultivators, and even Sun Blaze cultivators. But you don't have to worry about safety—the rules of the Asura Field mean no one dares stir up conflict within the Sky Asura World."
Lu Ye couldn't help asking, "What would be the consequence?"
Gui Yi turned her head and shot him a glance. "Direct annihilation—unless you have the strength to withstand the power of the stellar space supreme treasure."
Never mind Lu Ye, a mere Moon Jade; even those Sun Blaze cultivators probably didn't have that kind of strength. So although the Sky Asura World gathered countless cultivators from all over the stellar space and of many different cultivation realms, the entire domain was peaceful. Cultivators here really didn't have to worry about encountering any danger.
Besides, regardless of their realm, when cultivators come to the Asura Field, most of their energy is invested in those various trials. Who would have the mood to stir up storms in such a gathering place?
Lu Ye suddenly noticed cultivators flying out from within the domain, and there was more than one. But without exception, every cultivator who left the Sky Asura World mysteriously disappeared at a certain point.
Gui Yi explained from the side, "If you leave the Sky Asura World, you'll enter a training scenario according to fate. As for what kind of scenario, no one knows. It might be a very simple one‑on‑one fight, or it might be some special setting where you have to accomplish certain tasks. If you can meet the requirements, you obtain Asura Seals."
Lu Ye nodded. Chen Xuanhai had already told him this, so he naturally understood.
Nor was this sort of thing unfamiliar to him. Back in the Nine Provinces in earlier years, he had experienced similar situations more than once. The various secret realms within the Nine Provinces weren't all that different from the Asura Field here.
The only real difference was that, compared to back then, the present tempering scenarios were being governed by the Asura Field, this stellar space supreme treasure. In fact, one could regard these scenarios as a series of special secret realms.
"Let's go in." Gui Yi took the lead and descended toward the Sky Asura World.
Lu Ye closely followed.
"Every cultivator who first comes to the Asura Field will be given a cave residence of their own. You can sense the precise location of your cave residence with your Asura Authority Token. Try it."
Lu Ye was already doing just that. Following the token's guidance, he led Gui Yi as they flew off in one direction.
He had to admit, the sheer size of the Sky Asura World was the greatest he had ever seen in his life. By his rough estimate, the Sky Asura World was probably as large as several dozen Nine Provinces put together.
That wasn't strange. This place was, after all, one of the central hubs of the stellar space, where who knew how many cultivators converged. Every single one of them had their own cave residence; if the place were too small, there would be no way to accommodate them all.
As they traveled, Lu Ye asked curiously, "How many cultivators are gathered in the Sky Asura World altogether?"
Gui Yi said, "There's no way to calculate it. Some people come in, some people leave, others die in battle. But a Sun Blaze senior from this world did say that the Sky Asura World basically maintains a minimum population of five hundred thousand cultivators. That's the lowest. As for how many at most, there's no fixed number."
Five million, and all of them above Constellation, with even a great number of Sun Blaze gathered here—it was hard to imagine how immense this power was.
Of course, this wasn't a force that anyone could just command. If so many cultivators belonged to a single faction, unifying the stellar space might not be impossible.
"I don't think I've seen that many people?" Lu Ye asked again.
Five million cultivators above Constellation gathered within this one domain—no matter how vast this domain was, it ought to be bustling.
Yet in truth, Lu Ye really hadn't seen many traces of cultivators coming and going. Although the number of people passing by wasn't small, compared to that base number of five million, it still wasn't much.
"When cultivators return to the Sky
Asura World, they're generally in their own cave residence meditating and recuperating, preparing for their next trial. Unless they're visiting relatives or friends, they rarely go out. The truly lively place is actually the Asura Treasure Vault."
At the mention of the Asura Treasure Vault, Lu Ye couldn't help but raise his brows. That was exactly his destination this time; there were definitely all sorts of treasures inside that he wanted.
He couldn't help asking, "I heard there's an affiliated treasure of the Asura Field inside the Asura Treasure Vault, considered a Pseudo-Supreme Treasure?"
Gui Yi couldn't help but glance at him. "You're interested in that?"
"A little." Lu Ye nodded.
Gui Yi said calmly, "I'll take you to have a look later."
"Then I'll trouble you."
They flew along chatting idly. Gui Yi showed no hint of impatience, and was able to answer all of Lu Ye's various questions.
This made him sigh inwardly that the five hundred thousand spirit jade had been well spent. As Chen Xuanhai had said, after so many years of change, many of the rules in the Asura Field had undergone subtle shifts. If Lu Ye really acted strictly according to Chen Xuanhai's experience, he might very well suffer losses at some point.
Gui Yi was different. She hailed from the Rain Flower Star Cluster and would come to the Asura Field from time to time. She knew every change here like the back of her hand. With the intelligence and experience she provided, and cross-checking it against Chen Xuanhai's pointers, Lu Ye would undoubtedly avoid many detours.
Over half a day later, atop a towering snow-covered peak, Lu Ye led Gui Yi down.
According to the guidance of the Asura Authority Token, his cave residence was here.
Looking up, he saw a heavy stone door set into the rock face ahead. As he walked closer, he noticed a groove on the door that matched the shape of the Asura Authority Token.
"No need to set it in. Just lightly channel your Mana to activate the Asura Authority Token and you can open the cave residence," Gui Yi instructed him patiently.
Lu Ye immediately channeled his Mana and gave the Asura Authority Token a shake toward the stone door. Sure enough, as a streak of mystic light shot out, the cave residence portal opened.
The opening of the portal wasn't the door swinging wide, but the stone door turning transparent, like a sheet of water.
Lu Ye stepped forward, easily passing through the door that had turned into a water curtain without any obstruction. Only when he sensed that Gui Yi hadn't followed did he look back at her.
Gui Yi said, "Without the owner's permission, no one can intrude into another person's cave residence. I need your invitation to come in." Before Lu Ye could speak, she continued, "There are two ways to invite a guest into your cave residence. One is to inscribe the guest's origin and name into the Asura Authority Token and have the guest imprint it with their Mental Consciousness. That way, the guest can freely enter and leave your cave residence at any time, with no limit on the number of times. Inside your cave residence they're basically half a host. The other way is for you to activate the Asura Authority Token and mark me with a ray of light. Then I'll have a one-time right to enter your cave residence."
Lu Ye understood, and immediately activated the Asura Authority Token, shooting a streak of mystic light at Gui Yi. The light did not disperse, wrapping around her, but as she stepped inside, the glow vanished.
"With your level of cultivation, there are some things I don't need to spell out. Don't casually give anyone unrestricted access to your cave residence," Gui Yi reminded.
Lu Ye nodded. He naturally understood this. Although there wasn't anything valuable inside the cave residence, if he were disturbed at a critical moment of cultivation or healing, it would still be bad.
The two of them walked deeper into the cave residence and, in a short while, entered a fairly spacious area.
Lu Ye took a few peculiar stones used for illumination out of his storage ring and placed them around. The gentle light immediately dispelled the darkness.
Who knew how many owners this cave residence had changed hands through. Every owner would take their belongings when they left, so naturally there was nothing of value left behind.
Gui Yi's voice sounded, "Nothing inside the cave residence can be altered at will. If you intend to expand your cave residence, you need to submit a request to the Asura Field. Depending on your needs, you'll have to spend a different number of Asura Seals. Of course, even if you spend the Asura Seals, the Asura Field won't help you with the expansion—you still have to do it yourself."
Lu Ye glanced around. His cave residence wasn't very large, but he had no need to expand it, so he said, "No need to expand it. This is fine."
Then, with some excitement, he added, "I want to go take a look at the Asura Treasure Vault."
