The item was just a little bracelet with two dangling ornaments on it. One of those ornaments was cracked and faded, while the other one was still bright and full of luster. From what Grey could tell, there was an obnoxious amount of energy stored in it.
This must have been the item that the envoy used to reach their city so quickly. Which meant that it was possible to use this item to reach the main city of the empire.
At least Grey assumed so. It had taken the envoy a couple of days to arrive, but it was hard to tell exactly when the envoy had left in the first place.
It made sense it would take a couple of days if the flight was the entire 50,000 kilometers, but that was only if the speed of this item was only about as good as what one would expect from a plane back on Earth.
The technology in this place was on another level, and when you started talking about the Classes and power levels, it should be even more exaggerated than that.
The best commercial planes on Earth—assuming they never had to stop and refuel—would take three to four days to travel 50,000 kilometers, so that was about in line with how long it took the envoy to arrive.
Still, Grey just couldn’t shake the feeling that this item would be better than that.
He turned it over and then a notification popped up asking him if he wanted to return to his last destination. But it also mentioned that he wouldn’t be able to activate it from here and would need to go outside.
’So I can return to wherever they came from... fantastic... Fuck no.’
Grey put the item into his inventory. He had cleared a lot of space after all the Cyber Cores he had to use in his battle with Calixan, so there was plenty at this point. In fact, he would probably run out of Cyber Cores soon.
’Ah, to be rich...’
Grey shook his head and looked at the other items that Frantz had on his person. There was nothing but what was left in the spatial ring, but the ring itself was oddly barren.
There were only two things in there. Well, technically ten, but functionally two for Grey’s purposes. The first was the set of nine swords, and the last was a familiar spear.
However, the descriptions of the items were very... lackluster.
They didn’t have any special abilities outside of their durability and the energy they could take at all. There was no boost to stats, no Harmonic Stat option like Joaquin’s spear had, and there wasn’t even any "hurry up and save my life" feature.
It seemed that as disgusted as the Dukedom was with Sir Terran, they treated him a lot better than they treated their envoy. Though maybe that made sense.
Terran had at least had an Epic Set of armor he had made Grey’s life a living hell with, but Frantz had none of that. He was just a convenient messenger pawn they could send across the way to deal with their enemies for them.
’They sent a Mid-Tier Vanguard Holy Knight as a messenger...’ Grey sighed.
Dealing with this family was going to be a nightmare, wasn’t it?
And he was just thinking about the Dukedom right now. He had a feeling that dealing with the fallout of punching an Oracle in her nose was going to be its own issue.
That said, cutting down an empress who thought she was a goddess did sound like fun.
’One step at a time, cowboy.’ 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
Grey took a step forward and appeared by Edmun’s glass casket. He put a palm on it, his eyes a bit lost in thought as he looked down toward the old man.
He didn’t say anything, just standing there.
He wasn’t sure how long he spent like that, but after he took a breath of finality, he tapped the casket.
"I’ll do my best, old man."
With a thought, Grey pulled Edmun and his casket into his inventory space. It only seemed right that if he was going to complete the quest, the only place Edmun should be buried would be his family’s former homeland.
Grey shifted gears.
Though the items Frantz had were a bit disappointing, Grey didn’t mind it too much. That was because he knew there was simply no way he could have defeated a City Boss like Calixan and gotten nothing out of it.
However, he didn’t see any notifications right now. Which meant...
Grey walked out of the room and tiptoed over all the unconscious women.
He sighed inwardly. ’I used to knock them down with my dick,’ he shook his head, ’don’t show gramps this, he’ll kill me.’
Grey didn’t care all that much, but his grandfather was chivalrous to a fault. Which made it funnier that he couldn’t seem to keep a girlfriend for more than three months at a time.
Though, Grey was pretty sure that was because none of them could stack up to his grandma in his granddad’s heart.
Grey left the nunnery and found himself in a hallway of white fog. He followed it down until he found a familiar portal and stepped inside.
Grey grinned as he saw a trio of floating Loot Boxes in the air.
That Oracle might have been annoying, but she was a woman of her word, at least. She really hadn’t taken any of his items.
Unfortunately, there was one person who apparently wasn’t so valiant.
"Now what do you think you’re doing, exactly?"
Chogh froze in place, the hand he had prepared to press down on the floating Loot Box quivering wildly.
