Serene and The Six Realms
Chapter 46
Reminiscent of the past, Part. 2 ( 510 years ago )
"Make a protective barrier quickly." Raida Sensei shouted towards witches and warlocks. As they raised their wands, some of the Shubas had already descended. "Get the barrier up, I will deal with these." Raida Sensei told them as she formed her wind scythe and went on a rampage.
Aaban and Sahala got up as well, although one was injured and the other was completely drained of energy. It didn’t stop them from fighting. Aaban drew his sword and attacked a Shuba heading toward them. "I can’t form my shield again but I can still shoot some arrows," Sahala told him as she picked up her bow.
The barrier was up but there were too many of them and it could be breached at any moment. Those Shubas who were already inside the barrier were attacking them relentlessly. Four of them had cornered Orison. Aaban and Meliana rushed to her help. Aaban chopped the head off of one with a clean swift blow. Meliana used her mind control to take care of the two of them, while last was killed by Orison herself with her red fireballs, but she had been injured in the process.
" Are you alright? " Aaban asked her. " I will live, don’t worry. " She replied. " I will stay with her, you go and help others," Meliana told Aaban, he nodded and headed towards a cluster of them.
Hundreds of them had gathered on the protective shield and were trying to break it, some holes had been formed from where more of them were leaking in. Two more people could be seen laying on the ground, bleeding. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
And, then just like a huge bubble popping the barrier snapped and disappeared. Sahala looked up in horror as hundreds of them began to descend upon them. She looked around and everything seemed to be in a haze. Her friends, seniors and Senseis fighting for their lives. They were only a handful, injured and tired and some of them were already dead. Didn’t she make an oath earlier that she won’t let anyone else die? How come she has been unable to protect them?
She stood up and opened her silver wings as she flew in the air towards the Shubas while opening her hands wide, using all the energy she could muster. The protective shield which used to be green turned purple as it spread from her towards her comrades, faster and stronger than before, covering every inch of the ground. As soon as the Shubas touched the shield they began to disintegrate, screeching, yelling, and disappearing by turning to ashes.
Everyone looked at her in horror and shock. Her eyes had turned purple as well emitting a light of their own. She was glowing and emitting a beautiful violet hue. The rest of the Shubas halted in mid-air and some even recoiled back.
Then out of the woods came " The Slayers " and it didn’t take them long to take charge. Finally, the help arrived, and they began to slaughter the remaining Shubas. Raida and the other Senseis tried to leave her protective shield to go help them, but they couldn’t step out of it. Aaban wanted to go near her but Orison told him not to. Until and unless every last one of the Shubas was killed Sahala kept her shield up.
As the final one was brought down Sahala let go, completely drained she lost consciousness and fell, Aaban prevented her from hitting the ground and she landed in his arms. He, quickly carried her inside so that a healing witch will be able to treat her. Orison and Meliana followed behind him, worry evident on their faces as they feared for their friend’s life. Nothing was going to be the same for them after that.
The aftermath of the battle was devastating. One junior and one senior student lost their lives while many of them got injured including two Senseis. The ground was covered with dead Shubas, Slayers were making rounds killing those who were still alive. Injured were being treated but this horrible experience left long-lasting effects and future decisions were made that changed this world in so many ways.
The council of elders was called and it was decided something concrete needed to be done about the Dark Realm. Too many precious lives were being lost because of the monster attacks. Sahala’s newly founded power came under discussion as well and it was decided a powerful shield with an everlasting spell should be cast over the Dark Realm to prevent the mingling of monsters and humans.
But, it was a huge task and required a lot of force and effort and it took a further ten years to accomplish and perfect this plan and to put it into action.
Meanwhile, Sahala and her friends made a full recovery. Aaban stayed with her till she was discharged from the infirmary. He not only took care of her but everyone else too. He would bring them flowers, and sweets and even would sing with them. He kept the atmosphere from getting gloomy although they were mourning the loss of their two comrades.
Once Sahala was discharged, she went home. Her parents were worried sick about her and were in tears to see their daughter back alive. The story of her heroic deed has spread throughout the kingdom and people began to look at her as a saviour from the monsters. Although, she herself wasn’t sure about her newly found power and how to control it but she was hopeful that she would be able to do something in the future to liberate people from evil monsters.
One day she went into the forest near her castle where the Crystal Trees grew. And, there was a new bud and to her utmost surprise, it was black in colour. A black crystal was about to grow on their tree. Not in her deepest imagination she had ever thought of seeing one. But, she knew what she was going to do with it.
