Serene and The Six Realms
Chapter 45
Reminiscent of the past. Part. 1 ( 510 years ago )
"Wake up! Sahala, we are going to be late." Meliana woke her up.
"Ummm," Sahala responded lazily.
"Your darling beau will be waiting." Orison teased with a chuckle. Sahala opened her eyes and threw a pillow at her which hit her in the face all three of them began to chuckle. " Pillow fight," and all three of them began to throw pillows at each other, laughing hysterically.
"But, seriously what do you even see in him? He is just a Folkel and you are going to be the next queen of your realm." Meliana teased her.
"Well, you will understand when you yourself will fall in love with someone my dear Meliana." Sahala smiled at her friend and Meliana just scowled.
"We should get ready now. We are so late, already." Orison reminded them. Sahala jumped from the bed and began to get ready for the annual ball at UIMB where they had been studying for the past year.
She had chosen to wear a silver ball gown which was adorned with navy blue and turquoise gems with high heels and long matching evening gloves. Meliana was wearing a tea-length black gown while Orison chose a long pink pleated gown.
Once they were ready, they took one final look in the mirror and decided to head down towards the institute ground where the ball was being held. At the bottom of the final stairs there stood a boy with long side fringed black hair and a beautiful pair of dark blue eyes. He was wearing a black tuxedo and holding a bouquet in his hands. An affectionate smile that touched his eyes was spread over his long and slender face with a sharp jawline. He had a celestial nose and red thin lips.
He stood about 6 feet tall with a slim but toned body. His long and lithe fingers clutched the bouquet tightly as he saw Sahala come down the stairs. His heart leaped at how gorgeous and elegant she looked.
Not only was she the epitome of beauty with her long dark blue-black hair, huge light blue eyes, small oval face and button of a nose. Her complexion was fair which was complementing the dress she was wearing. She had an infectious smile that hardly left her face. Not only she was elegant, she knew how to carry herself like the proper princess she was.
As their eyes met they felt this warm feeling inside of them. A light heart-touching music filtered from the outside. Orison chuckled at her side while Meliana scowled.
"Girls go ahead I will catch you," Sahala told them. As they rushed past him, Orison winked at him and he just lowered his gaze, shying away. Meliana acted like he didn’t exist.
Sahala came down and stood in front of him. "How long have you been waiting for me?" She asked him smiling.
"Not very long," he blushed.
She drew closer and whispered, "Liar" and smiled sweetly.
He put his free hand behind his head and rubbed it as if in confusion while smiling back. "You look gorgeous my princess." He said affectionately, handing her a bouquet of blue flowers.
"Thank you! My prince charming, these are beautiful." She took the bouquet and smelled them.
"I am no Prince, milady." He chuckled.
"In my heart, you are." She looked at him sideways. He stepped forward and lifted her from her waist, pressing her closer to him, as their lips touched they felt butterflies in their stomach. They forgot the world around them, all they could feel was the warmth of each other’s lips. Seconds, minutes, hours, an eternity passed for them.
Finally, he let go of her and placed her down gently. She touched his face with her hands while he closed his eyes and took her wrist, "Shall we?" She asked and like a gentleman, he nodded bowing his head which made her chuckle. He offered his arm to her which she took gracefully as they made their way to the grounds outside.
Everyone awed as they passed turning their heads, whispering and smiling at them. They were everyone’s favourite couple. Both of them joined their friends.
"You look stunning."
"Your dress is gorgeous."
Everyone complimented Sahala. "Thank you," She replied with courtesy and a smile and then asked:
"Is everyone here?" which was followed by roars and cheers." Then let’s take our places and go wild." She shouted.
The music grew louder as they began to display their choreographed routine. Soon their outgoing seniors joined in as well and there was a lot of laughter, hugs and dancing.
The air was crisp, today. Suddenly, they heard loud screeches in the distance as the school horn began to blow. Everyone froze, their Senseis became alert and surrounded the students.
"We are going to be attacked. Some monsters from the dark dimension are headed this way." One of them shouted.
"They already broke the school barrier? How did they break the barrier? They are getting stronger, recently." Senseis discussed among themselves as few others joined them and brought weapons.
"Take the students to safety." One of them shouted.
"Inside, get inside all of you. Head towards the Enchantment Hall." They began to run inside, horror evident on their faces. Only a few made it in when the first wave of monsters hit.
They were "Shubas" a black coloured misty creatures with long grotesque faces and six arms each having three-fingered claws. They had sharp razor-edged teeth. They had the ability to modify their bodies. They could sprout wings or long feet, depending on if they wanted to attack, run, or fly. Their bodies were made up of semi fluids giving them the capability of modification. They were one of the most dangerous creatures to dwell in the dark realm.
"Sahala, go inside." He told her.
"Aaban, we are going to fight them and not hide. I am going to fetch my bow." She ran inside ditching her high heels. Aaban followed her but headed towards the Training Room to fetch more weapons. It was utter chaos everywhere. One of the Witch Sensei had formed a temporary barrier to hold them at bay for now.
There were at least twenty Shubas. Senseis were holding them off while most of the students were sent to Enchantment Hall and was closed with a spell. Sahala, Orison, Meliana, and Aaban along with some of their seniors gathered on the ground to fight along with their Senseis. The barrier was removed so they could fight them now.
There was already someone injured on the ground, blood spilling from the arms and chest as it had been ripped open. Shubas devoured the hearts of their prey. Sahala gulped at the sight but she wasn’t going to let anyone else be killed.
"Sahala can you form your protective shield?" Raida Sensei called her from the front.
"On it," she closed her eyes green aura flowed from her and covered everyone on the ground. "Let’s kill these assholes once and for all. " Raida Sensei shouted.
Aaban pulled his sword, Orison was ready with her wand while Meliana had her eyes closed as if concentrating. Sahala had her silver bow in her hand as she pulled it three silver arrows formed, she aimed it at the Shubas, trying to get through her shield and grab her. Arrows pierced his semi-fluid body and he explodes with a bright light.
Meliana darted towards one as he tried to claw her, but Sahala’s shield held him at bay. Meliana grabbed its head and it went limp. She stepped back as he began to claw itself in the chest and then tore its head off. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Aaban was fighting one with his sword. Cutting it, edging it but it formed wings and flew in the air leaking blackish fluid. Orison was sending tiny, intense, red deadly bolts toward them. Raida was sending them flying with her wind scythe.
Sahala’s shield began to weaken after ten minutes. and Aaban got scratched on the arm. She rushed towards him killing the one attacking him with her light arrows. "Sahala, concentrate on the shield. Leave the fighting to us." Meliana shouted from the distance.
"Understood," and she put her bow down and clasped both her hands together extending the range of her shield.
"Aaban, are you alright?" She asked him in a concerned voice.
"It’s just a scratch, don’t worry." He got up, picked up his sword and proceeded to kill the next one in sight.
It took them 15 more minutes to kill them all. They were exhausted and Sahala fell to the ground completely empty of energy as her shield vanished.
Aaban took her in his arms: "You did great, I am so proud of you." He smiled at her.
Healing witches and warlocks had arrived and began to tend to the wounded. One of their seniors had lost his life while quite a few were injured. "Has anyone contacted the Slayers? Where are they?" Raida Sensei asked another Sensei.
"They will be here shortly, until then we have to hold the ground." He replied.
Horn blew again and this time screeches were louder than ever as the creatures flew towards them in hordes from the forest covering the moons in the background. This time there were hundreds of them.
