Chapter 88: Chapter 88

Serene’s POV

"I, The Supreme Warlock welcome you all on the behalf of Haxum Realm. We have all gathered here today to discuss a critical matter, which will affect all the Realms. I extend my gratitude to all of you for taking out the time to attend this important meeting. Artins will give you all the mandatory details and after that, we will vote on how to proceed with the matter." Alexis addressed the room before sitting down and giving the speaking authority to Artins Sensei.

I shifted uneasily in my chair as the atmosphere in the hall became heavy. The silence in the room was making me nervous and my brain was going haywire. My father reached out and took his hand in mine, assuring me no matter what happens he will be there for me.

Artins Sensei stood up and after a brief welcome, he explained everything he knew and discovered about me and the Dark Realm. My blackouts, my nightmares, and even my ancestral roots were laid out in detail. Artins Sensei deliberately emphasized my relationship with Sahala and how she had been appearing in my dreams. There was a slight murmur as he finished, everyone glared at me some with hostility and others with concern. I tried to sink deeper into my chair trying to avoid everyone’s gazes.

"Is this a joke, Artins? Do you actually believe this absurdity?" Vampire Queen Vilarja spoke up with an amused look on her face. "I am afraid that this is not an absurdity, Garion confirmed it and she is never wrong." Artins Sensei was ready for the onslaught of questions that were to follow this revelation.

"So, you are telling us that this child is a ’Harbinger of Destruction’ that she is capable of bringing down the barrier that has been held up for 500 years and can unleash not only the monsters within but also what we buried and forgot." There was a slight edge to Vilarja’s voice.

"My daughter is not a Harbinger of Destruction, don’t use absurd titles for her and this all is just a possibility, nothing has happened so far." My father spat out making Vilarja give him a crooked smile.

"What we need right now is a plan in case of a worst-case scenario. We have already taken precautions to not let Serene go anywhere near the Dark Realm and she is being watched and monitored 24/7." Artins Sensei tried to maintain peace by explaining what has already been done.

"Why isn’t she chained up already? Considering how delicate and precarious this whole situation is. Why is she roaming around free putting everyone’s lives in danger?" Vilarja didn’t really like to hold back at all. My father became tensed at her words but before he could speak Alpha Anmadius spoke up.

"Now, now Vilarja no need to be rude. You can’t chain someone up without a crime and she hasn’t even committed any yet. Although it’s a possibility that she would lead to the downfall of our world as we know it. Then again she is a Fae and they believe themselves to be above us." His eyes were hostile as he eyes me dangerously.

"We need to give Princess Serene a chance to prove herself. I am sure it’s not an easy task to bear such a burden but she is Sahala’s descendent and it means she will be powerful like her and according to the intel, she will be our saviour." Prince Zohun Li came to my rescue.

"Says the boy who is not even a king yet. A folkel should know better than that. If the barrier is broken Folkshel Realm will suffer the most losses and severe consequences. That force will not stop until every Folkel is eradicated starting from Aaban’s descendants." Vilarja took extra pleasure saying those last words.

"Besides look at her, from what I have heard she is not even half that strong as Sahala was at her age. Artins your institute seems to have lowered its standard. You kicked one of my kind out and yet keep someone as dangerous as her and haven’t even trained her properly." Alpha Anmadius was referring to Lourden and he wasn’t wrong, I was still weak.

"Your filthy mouth seems to have no bounds. One more word against my daughter and I will forget we are on peaceful grounds." My father stood up as he glared at Alpha Anmadius.

"Sit down Eradius, no need to rile yourself up like that. We gathered here today to find a solution to this threat we are facing and not to throw ourselves at each other’s throats. This is a no-fighting zone, I will not let anyone taint these sacred grounds. So, all of you hold your horses and let’s come up with a strategy. Now, I want all of you to give your opinions about what we need to do to deal with the situation." Supreme Warlock Alexis had to step in before the confrontation turned into a catastrophe. There was so much authority in his words that everyone settled down although they kept glaring at each other. If only looks could kill. There was a hushed silence as everyone appeared to be contemplating what needed to be done.

Prince Zohun Li was the first one to break the silence: " I suggest that Slayers be cautioned and guard duty be increased along the boundary wall of Dark Realm. Meanwhile, Serene is kept under surveillance but she should have the freedom to live her life and train so when the time comes she is ready to take on the role of our saviour and all of us have to be ready to back her up." I looked at him with gratitude, he was a Folkel and yet had more courage than those with absolute power.

"Of course, a Folkel would always side with a Fae, we never learnt that valuable lesson from our history. It was a relationship between a Fae and Folkel which threatened our world so many years ago." Vilarja shook her head.

"Not the relationship but jealousy and bloodlust of your kind. In the end, her love and determination won while it was buried deep without a name; rotting and forgotten." Prince Zohun Li didn’t hold back this time. I knew they were referring to Sahala and Aaban but I hadn’t read the complete diary so I was still in dark about so much.

"Let’s stay on course and give suggestions instead of trying to bring each other down." Artins Sensei gave another gentle reminder.

Vilarja stared at me with a wicked smile before speaking up again: "My suggestion is that we kill her here and now and get rid of this impending threat for good." Everything happened in a split second after that as she signalled the boy standing behind her and he moved at lightning speed toward me. He was inches away from me when I realized what was actually happening as golden-blue wings covered me. The boy was impaled by several golden spears which manifested mid-air. A transparent blue hand materialized in front of me and pierced the chest of the boy ripping his heart out in one swift go, splattering the blood on the sacred ground below as the lifeless body of the boy thumped over it.
