The moment the voice sounded, it sent shivers down one’s spine.

Originally there were 13 people: 5 women and 8 men.

Ah Chen’s dance partner was Bai Chao. Among the other female Adventurers, two were romantically involved with NPCs, one got along well with a female NPC who temporarily found her a male NPC as a dance partner. The remaining female Adventurer without NPC ties just picked a familiar male Adventurer nearby to be her partner.

The male Adventurers initially also wanted some romantic encounters with female NPCs. Unfortunately, they were not very popular among them; one of them even spoke offensively and was quite annoying.

So, after exchanging glances, the seven male Adventurers whispered, "No one said we can only choose members of the opposite sex — we men can team up and dance together."

The female NPCs present had no interest in them at all. In fact, some of these male Adventurers were quite good-looking and had decent personalities. However, there’s a saying about a single rat spoiling the entire pot.

The previous male Adventurer who improperly harassed the staff ruined their reputation, which led to them being unwelcome. They were somewhat disgruntled about this but could do nothing.

However, his poor character made him repulsive, and even other male Adventurers found him despicable and didn’t want to pair with him.

Ah Chen and Bai Chao swirled through the dance floor, with everyone intentionally avoiding them; not only did they dance well, but they were exceedingly attractive.

Meanwhile, the three pairs of male Adventurers stumbled through their dance. Their sexual orientation was straight, and this was the first time dancing a couple’s dance with other men. Even if they knew how to dance, they were now unsure, frequently stepping on each other’s feet and blushing, hoping desperately for the torturous ball to end soon.

Though compared to dealing with ghosts, being stepped on while dancing seemed relatively easy. A few more steps didn’t matter.

Ten minutes passed, and the left-out Adventurer was escorted out, a face full of unwillingness. As he was dragged out, he scanned the other Adventurers inside with a gloomy expression, as if trying to memorize their faces for future retaliation.

It was exasperating.

The remaining male Adventurers were also unhappy; had this person not wreaked havoc, they might have found help from the female NPCs. They said nothing, but this guy held a grudge against them. So will they, just to be cautious against future betrayals.

One song ended, and everyone stopped to return to their seats for rest.

Except for Ah Chen, everyone else was tense, not believing they could pass tonight just by dancing.

An hour passed, two hours passed, three hours passed, and in the blink of an eye, it was close to eleven o’clock, and the ball was about to end.

The broadcast announced, "Have you all enjoyed yourselves? However, tonight’s ball has ended. Please leave by eleven-thirty. By the way, after midnight, things might not be quite peaceful outside; it’s better not to linger and return to your rooms to rest."

Except for Ah Chen, no one else had a room card, making it impossible to return. Even if they had money, they couldn’t retreat to any room. Was tonight going to be a battle against ghosts for them?

As for the two female Adventurers in relationships, they hadn’t been returning to their rooms every night either, occasionally staying over at their NPC boyfriends’. At this moment, they felt relieved, seeing they could clear the level. "Of course not, sister; you’ve done me a huge favor. Thanks for taking me in." The female Adventurer didn’t expect that making a good friend would result in such an unexpected joy.

The last female Adventurer, without any NPC connections, and the male Adventurers stayed troubled, pondering their next steps, ready to battle ghosts through the night.

Ah Chen didn’t intend to stay longer, she stood up and headed toward the exit.

The others watched but made no move.

Bai Chao walked by her side, looking heavy-hearted.

"Tomorrow we’ll be parting ways; I wonder if we’ll meet again," a voice came from elsewhere. Ah Chen and Bai Chao turned to see it was a female Adventurer speaking.

Her NPC boyfriend replied, "If you’re willing, after success, come find me, and we can stay together. But I won’t interfere with your choice; it’s all up to you. Of course, I hope you’ll stay instead of leaving. I’ve felt very happy these days with you."

"I’ll come find you then," the female Adventurer said without much hesitation. "There’s nothing outside holding me back; it’s merely to preserve my consciousness, to keep existing."

"Wait for me, don’t get charmed by others. If you can’t resist, then I’ll have to choose someone else."

It might be a little sad, but it wouldn’t affect her continuation to exist.

"I’ll wait for you, over the years, only you managed to win me over." She hadn’t dated anyone else.

Ah Chen withdrew her gaze, thinking her sister had quite an eye, finding a good one quickly.

"I’ve never dated anyone either," Bai Chao quickly added, "never thought about it before."

Ah Chen chuckled, "I know."

"And I know you’ve followed me through several instances," she whispered, leaning closer to him, "starting from Tan Sui."

Bai Chao was shocked for a moment, then felt it obvious; she was undeniably strong, unlike an ordinary person from the outside world.

Her identity didn’t matter, as long as he liked her.

"After meeting the conditions to leave, will you?" Bai Chao asked.

Ah Chen replied, "I will; there are things to be done outside."

Bai Chao’s eyes dimmed; he somewhat expected it.

The previously low-spirited Bai Chao was instantly uplifted. He said, "If you don’t mind, I can go out with you."

Even if it had minor effects, it wouldn’t matter to him.

"No, I’ll find you when the time comes," Ah Chen patted his hand, "You don’t need to go out; just wait for me."

He had a contract on him; frequent movement between realms would likely impact him.

Bai Chao was delighted, "Okay."

On the way back to the room, Ah Chen indeed sensed the lurking ghosts in the dark night, but they glanced at her dress and swiftly diverted their gaze.

After escorting her back to the room, Bai Chao departed.

That night was exceptionally peaceful for Ah Chen, but chaotic for the other Adventurers.

As daylight broke, she awoke.

She was curious about what had occurred last night.
