Penny Brown never thought that despite her already unfavorable future, someone would be so brazen to wish her for an even worse ending.

At a certain function, she found herself in a trap she couldn’t escape. Got unknowingly drugged and was sent to the bed of a sleazy man. Luckily for her, the deities were on her side. She quickly awoken and assessed her unfavorable situation and ran for her life.

Amidst running, she bumped into her current husband Russ. Her body was hot and she was on fire. Unable to control herself, she simply plastered herself onto him. By the time she opened her eyes, she was in his bed, the deed was done and she was very ashamed and embarrassed.

She didn’t even have the guts to accuse Russ, for she knew that she was the one who had stuck on him like a leech. The man even tried to get her sent to the hospital, but she was simply too eager.

Luckily for her, Russ was a responsible man. Since they have already done the deed, he couldn’t pretend like nothing happened. So, a few days later after the incident, Russ sent someone to her house for a marriage proposal and her life hanging by the thread was saved.

Her parents were planning on marrying her off to some wild man, worse than the one they have picked for her. With her chastity gone, her value had dwindled. Who would have known that she had ended up in the bed of such a man?

Her family was happy, and she was married off quickly like that.

Rather than dismay and disappointment, Penny was happy to have been married to Russ Daniels. The man despite being five years older than her and a bit taciturn. He was very rich and a ranch mogul. She could confidently say that most beef, mutton and the likes being eaten in the city comes from his ranch.

His business was reputable and the man was just hard working. Most importantly, he was low key and didn’t like the hassle of society.

Being married to him was way much better than those men who were always in the spotlight. Entering this marriage, Penny didn’t expect much from Russ. Russ didn’t love her. He only married her for responsibility. Though it kind of hurt to know that, but it was much better compared to lying to herself that she was loved.

Living with Russ has been the most tiring and yet fulfilling years of her life. The number of times, she and him had been intimidate could be counted pretty easily. That incident didn’t bring a life into the world but later in the year, she finally got pregnant, and that pregnancy made her status at home much better.

With a child in tow, Russ could treat her better compared to that. She started wanting his love, but she knew better. It was impossible. So, she could only place her hopes on the child in her belly. When she finally gave birth to a girl, for a second, she was disappointed.

She understood the importance of giving birth to male children in families like theirs. A girl was a child and she should be happy but wouldn’t a son be better?

However, she was slapped hard in the face when she saw how much Russ loved this daughter and spoiled her so much.

Since then, she kicked out her patriarchist thoughts and started taking good care of her daughter. As long as she does that, then Russ would surely look kindly on her.

Years passed, there haven’t been much going on in terms of intimacy but Russ wasn’t stingy with her. He also didn’t have other women outside, so she was much more at ease.

As long as he remained her husband, she didn’t have much to ask or complain about. As long as her little ancestor remains her daughter, she wouldn’t have to worry about anything happening either.

So, Penny was the most grateful to Gracelynn despite being a child she brought into this world. Without her, who knows what her status in this house would be.

It was just unfortunate that her eagerness towards a stranger was much higher compared to the mother who gave birth to her and raised her.

Was the similarity towards Princess Isfrid that great that her daughter was that excited?

The poor mother’s soul couldn’t help but feel hurt.

Recalling what happened last night, after returning home, Gracelynn couldn’t stop talking about Diamond and when Russ returned from work later that night, Gracelynn took it upon herself to tell her father about her exciting day.

Penny could remember the doting expression on his face as he patiently listened to Gracelyn talk about her day and how responsive he was. If Gracelynn wasn’t her daughter, she would be drowning in a vat of vinegar due to jealousy.

After all the talk, Penny finally joined in and told Russ about the invitation that had been given to Diamond. If Russ didn’t want anyone to come, she would have to apologize to Diamond. But Russ, being the daughter doting father he was, readily agreed.

Since Gracelynn liked this woman, then let her meet the other. There was no problem in that. However, just to be at ease, he had his men look into this Diamond and after getting the information, he was no longer worried, which put Penny at ease.

However, she didn’t know that what Russ didn’t reveal was the curiosity towards Diamond. After all, when digging deeper into this lady, the man who was doing the digging reported that he was hitting a wall.

No ordinary person could have his or her information encrypted. Something must be going on and he was curious to meet this woman in person and see what secrets she was hiding.

He believed that there was more to her than what meets the eye, and he was quite eager to see for himself just what that was.
