"Where did they go?" Penny asked anxiously the moment she stepped back into the living room, only to find those two no longer there.

Where could they have gone without her?

"Mommy, didn’t you say daddy is back? Where is sister Diamond? She didn’t leave without saying goodbye, did she?" on the other side, Gracelynn was starting to become emotional after failing to see the person she was eager to see.

Her mother had promised her that Diamond was waiting with her father but where were the people? Her mother could not have lied to her, right?

When those questions were posed, the butler hurriedly responded, not wanting the mistress and the young miss to have thoughts that they shouldn’t have.

"The master and Lady Diamond are outside. The lady’s boyfriend just drove through the gates."

When Penny heard that, she sighed with relief. She almost lost her bearings for a moment there.

She thanked the butler before looking at her daughter, while her hand was still holding hers and said, "darling, your father and sister are waiting outside. How about we go there as well and wait for your sister’s boyfriend to arrive?"

When Gracelynn heard that, her eyes brightened up and quickly nodded. "Let’s go!" her tone tinged with eagerness which shattered the mother’s heart.

Nevertheless, Penny fulfilled her daughter’s wish, and began to go outside. However, she didn’t forget to instruct the butler, "since our last guest is here. Please, serve the dishes. It’s been a while since everyone ate," not forgetting that time has passed.

"Right away. We will start serving."

After issuing that instruction, Penny took Gracelynn outside to meet her father and Diamond. Once again, her already cracked heart suffered another damage.

"Sister Diamond!" Gracelynn sweet and childish voice rang loudly as she skipped happily towards Diamond, while dragging Penny alongside with her.

At that very moment, Diamond was laughing after Russ has mentioned something when she heard Gracelynn calling out to her.

She turned around, the beautiful smile on her face so wide, and since she was laughing, her face was glowing. The moment Penny saw that, her heart sunk. She found herself unconsciously looking at her husband and what she saw devasted her. She received a huge blow.

He was smiling. Whenever he was being genuine. Something that she had seen when he is playing with Gracelynn, there was something about his eyes. They smile as well and seem to have a sparkle at that time.

She was seeing that in his eyes, after leaving them for less than thirty minutes. Just what kind of charm did Diamond have to charm both father and daughter?

For the first time, Penny’s thoughts darkened.

When was Diamond going to leave?

She honestly and sincerely hoped that this will be the first and last time she was going to see Diamond, completely unaware that they will be meeting each other again in a few months.

Fate has ways to screw people over at times.

It catches you unaware and give you a good makeover.

"Who is this?" Diamond asked teasingly as she spread her arms open, looking at the little darling with sparkling eyes.

Gracelynn, the pretty doll, wearing a cute blue princess dress with a pair of white shoes, beamed as she ran towards Diamond, and Penny reluctantly let go of Gracelynn so that she can run properly.

Besides, at this moment, she wasn’t concerned about Gracelynn’s liking towards Diamond but that fleeting glint she saw on her husband a while ago.

Gracelynn completely clueless of her mother’s worries, happily ran towards Diamond, ignoring her father she hadn’t seen the whole day while responding accordingly, "Hehe, I am my mother and father’s princess," a bell of laughter escaping her lips.

"Haha, that my little girl," Diamond happily praised her as she scooped her in her arms, before twirling around three times.

Gracelynn’s melodious giggles rang, and the parents watched affectionately as their daughter looked very happy.

Penny was happy to see her daughter being happy. Her sadness wouldn’t surpass her daughter’s needs. She could only watch that with a smile, while Russ was genuinely happy.

As he watched that, a fleeting thought flashed in his mind again, however, it quickly got thrashed when Penny’s voice sounded in his ears, bringing him back to reality. "With the way she loves children, I am really forward to seeing the child that she and Gael will have. She or he will be a good child, right?"

He felt as if he had been doused with ice water but didn’t show it. He nodded at Penny as he responded, "all children are good. It’s the way the parents and guardians raise the children that determines the outcome but seeing her, I know that she will definitely birth a great child," his tone very honest, filled with earnest praise and also providing another jab at Penny, who had spoken with motives.

While the couple were having a tense atmosphere, Diamond and Gracelynn were having their own little fun.

At the same time, Gael was also approaching, and from a distance he could see his girl. The one he still feels very proud and happy to have met. If he hadn’t taken his mother serious, he would be regretting if he had missed out on her.

Watching her as she played with that child, his lips curled upwards in a smile. It reminded him of their serious talk regarding children. He couldn’t wait for the day that they actually have their own.

He never thought that a day would come when he would actually be proactive when talking about children. He used to think that it would take years, maybe when he was in his thirties to even think of settling down, but look at him now.

He started talking to her in February, got together in May and now, August, he was already thinking about children and a family.

How unpredictable and magical!

Marriage might not be possible, but a life with kids was definitely possible, right?

After all, she promised and she wasn’t one to renegade on promises once made.
