Slowly Falling into His Love Trap
Chapter 289-290: To Love Her Is to Embrace Everything
"So... when are you free?" Cecilia Lynch asked.
"I’m very busy," Julian Keaton continued haughtily, "Cecilia, if you’re calling to apologize, then there’s no need. I don’t intend to forgive you. If you’re calling to ask for help, then even less so. What bond is left between us for me to help you?"
Listening to Julian Keaton’s sarcasm, Cecilia Lynch’s eyes darkened even more.
Did the two of them really end up in such a hostile state?
Hearing no response from Cecilia, Julian wondered if he’d spoken too harshly.
He and Cecilia had had tiffs before, but hadn’t he always been the first to compromise, having no way to deal with her?
Now, she’s calling him first; if he acts too aloof, things might end up even worse.
He should look for a way out, to step down when needed! 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
Thinking this, Julian Keaton continued, "However, I’m curious to know, what’s so urgent that you called me?"
"I want to tell you in person," Cecilia insisted, "If you’re not free today, I’ll call again tomorrow, if not tomorrow, I..."
"I’ll ask my secretary if I’m free today," Julian gritted his teeth, "I’ll call you back shortly."
With that, he pressed the hang-up button.
Damn Cecilia!
Could she not compromise a bit more?
Julian was so angry his face changed color, pacing back and forth in the office, then took a deep breath and called Cecilia back.
"Wait for me at home," Julian said without a kind tone, "I’m coming over now."
Without waiting for Cecilia to reply, Julian hung up again.
He’d go and see what exactly she wanted!
Listening to the "beep beep beep" of the busy signal, Cecilia sighed softly, walked to the subway station, and took the subway home.
When Cecilia arrived home, Julian was already there.
He had a key to her place and was currently sitting on the sofa, leisurely sipping tea.
Seeing Cecilia, Julian shot her a glance and sighed, "You’re the one who asked me over, and you ended up being late? Cecilia, don’t you know my time is valuable?"
"I’m sorry," Cecilia said softly.
Thinking this would be the last time she’d see Julian, her heart felt heavy, lacking any spirit.
She kept staring at him, as if trying to commit his appearance to memory.
Yet clearly, she could never forget him, no matter what, in this lifetime.
So much she wanted to say was stuck in her throat; she’d rehearsed her opening lines all the way here.
She thought she should proudly and casually say "goodbye" to him, to return everything to the starting point of being strangers.
But at this moment, she was too timid to utter even a syllable.
"What’s wrong?" Julian gently touched Cecilia’s forehead, "Cece, are you not feeling well?"
Feeling her forehead’s temperature was a bit high, Julian’s brows furrowed tightly, his face instantly turned dark.
His handsome face was fierce and angry, he said coldly, "I’ve told you so many times, don’t work so many jobs. I can support you. But you just won’t listen! Always taking risks with your health, Cecilia, what will you do if you collapse from illness? Can’t you just listen for once?"
As he spoke, Julian lifted Cecilia horizontally into his arms.
After placing her on the bed, he said coldly, "Rest well for a while. What would you like to eat? I’ll order delivery."
Looking at Julian like this, Cecilia’s nose tingled, her eyes filled with moisture. She held back stubbornly, not letting them turn into tears, but her vision grew increasingly blurry.
Julian was always like this.
Whenever she was sick or in pain, the one who got most anxious and distressed was always him.
He would scold her while taking care of her, wishing he could do everything for her so she wouldn’t feel the slightest bit tired.
His care for her was unmatched by anyone else in this world, yet she couldn’t afford the happiness it brought.
She was greedier than he thought.
Greedy for so much more. Heaven knows how much he struggled not to see her, how hard it was!
Now, she was finally in his arms!
So good! His tone remained icy, but his eyes couldn’t hide his concern, the pity in his heart for her had long suppressed any anger, making him once again compromise for her.
