Listening to Caden Lockwood’s words, Evelyn held her breath and raised her eyes. Reflecting in them were two small images of him, yet that aura of dominance and coldness didn’t decrease in the slightest.

"Uncle." Evelyn’s voice was very soft, "Can you please control your temper a bit? Things aren’t the way you think."

"Do you know what I’m thinking?" Caden Lockwood raised an eyebrow, his tone icy.

"Evelyn, I’d rather you didn’t know, because if you’re aware and still decide to oppose me, are you tired of living?" Caden Lockwood said sternly.

Looking so arrogant and domineering, not even willing to listen to a single explanation, Caden Lockwood.

Evelyn felt inexplicably tired.

At this moment, the waiter finished serving the dishes. Sensing the tense atmosphere, even though there were two incredibly handsome men at the table, he dared not linger for a second.

Looking at Caden Lockwood, Logan Shaw spoke softly, "Mr. Lockwood, since you gave Evelyn a check, shouldn’t she have the freedom to use that money however she wants?"

Without waiting for Caden Lockwood to speak, Logan Shaw continued, "And you, having given her the money, you’re still dictating how she must use it; you might as well not have given it!"

"Logan." Caden Lockwood’s voice squeezed through his teeth, his face looking extremely grim.

"Besides, you seem to have misunderstood. Evelyn didn’t plan to lend me this check." Logan Shaw explained with a faint smile, "I’ll handle the problems arising from my concert myself. If it can be held as scheduled and Mr. Lockwood happens to be interested and available, I’ll personally deliver the tickets to you."

Listening to Logan Shaw’s words, a deep something flickered in Caden Lockwood’s eyes.

In fact, upon closer thought, if Evelyn was using the check to loan to Logan Shaw, it wouldn’t be lying on the table; it would already be in Logan Shaw’s pocket.

But clearly, she needs a large sum of money!

Could it be she intended to lend money to Logan Shaw but was refused?

"Let’s eat." Logan Shaw said in a deep voice, "Evelyn, didn’t you say you hadn’t eaten much at noon? Eat more, and feel free to order anything else you’d like."

Evelyn felt like she was sitting on pins and needles, with Caden Lockwood beside her and Logan Shaw across from her. How could she possibly eat well?

Yet, if she said she wanted to leave now, it seemed she didn’t have a reason!

Gloomily, Evelyn glanced once at Caden Lockwood, her eyes full of something complicated, then simply picked up her chopsticks and started eating.

Seeing Logan Shaw and Evelyn eating as if no one else was there, Caden Lockwood glanced at the check in his hand, put it back in his pocket, and picked up his own bowl and chopsticks.

The situation was peculiarly strange, and Evelyn constantly wanted to leave.

But annoyingly, Caden Lockwood and Logan Shaw were exchanging a few words as if they were having a "pleasant" conversation.

"Since returning to Midoria, your path as a pianist hasn’t seemed smooth." Caden Lockwood asked Logan Shaw, "Have you not considered returning to America?"

"No, I haven’t." Logan Shaw’s tone wasn’t particularly friendly either, "Every beginning is difficult, and no matter how tough, I’ll grit my teeth and push through."

The corners of Caden Lockwood’s lips curled slightly more, and he spoke lightly, "If your family is obstructing you, enduring through hardship doesn’t seem like a wise decision."

"Does Mr. Lockwood think it’s unwise to endure?" Logan Shaw’s eyes flashed with a deep something as he continued, "I seem to have heard that Mr. Lockwood’s family doesn’t approve of your marriage to Evelyn; could it be that Mr. Lockwood plans to give up at any time?"
