Evelyn was startled, and immediately turned her gaze away.

The movement was so sudden that she almost sprained her neck.

Her breathing was light and slow, but her heart was racing uncontrollably.

Pretending to look over some documents, Evelyn wasn’t sure if Caden was still watching her.

What’s the difference between her current position in the office and being inside Caden’s office?

He just said that if her desk were in his office, he wouldn’t be able to concentrate on work?

Evelyn’s cheeks immediately flushed red, and she deliberately turned her head away from Caden’s office, determined not to let him see her looking guilty!

Recalling what Cecilia said, that a person’s love shouldn’t be heard but felt with the heart, Evelyn found herself even more bewildered.

She suddenly had the urge to escape from here.

But since she’s already here, wouldn’t running away be a bit cowardly?

Just then, Evelyn’s phone rang. Seeing it was a call from Cecilia, her eyes lit up as she promptly answered, anxiously asking, "How did it go, Cece, did you pass?"

"Evelyn, I let you down," Cecilia sounded dejected, "I didn’t..."

"How could that be?" Evelyn’s first reaction was disbelief.

Knowing the person most upset would definitely be Cecilia, Evelyn hurried to change her tune, "It’s okay! That interviewer had no taste! Rejecting such a great employee like you, even my uncle will regret it! Cece, don’t feel burdened. Apply somewhere else and prove them wrong with your skills!"

"Hahaha—" Cecilia suddenly burst into laughter, "Evelyn, I was just kidding! I passed the interview. They want me to start at the company tomorrow."

"Really?" Evelyn exclaimed excitedly, "Cece! You’re so naughty! I knew you’d do it! That’s great! We’ll be working at the same company from now on!"

"You’re the boss’s wife here!" Cecilia laughed, "Well, in that case, bring your uncle tonight, I’ll treat you both to a meal. It might not be a fancy restaurant, but..."

"No need!" Evelyn declined directly, "You’ll officially be an employee at The Lockwood Group tomorrow, go home early today and get some rest, then come in looking great tomorrow!"

"It was you and your uncle who gave me this opportunity; I have to..."

"No!" Evelyn interrupted, "My uncle said whether you can get hired is all up to your own ability, so you don’t need to worry about that. Alright! Head home, and be good tomorrow when you come to work!"

Cecilia took a deep breath and thanked Evelyn once more before hanging up the phone.
