Slowly Falling into His Love Trap
Chapter 322: Not Wanting Him to Be Alone with Another Woman
Evelyn Morgan came to work at the company, and James Lockwood’s father, Julian Keaton, didn’t say much.
However, Shannon Dunn almost appeared daily, chatting with Caden Lockwood in the office about work issues.
Evelyn was envious.
She also wanted to be like a real employee, to become a professional white-collar worker and solve many business problems.
She often fantasized about what she would look like in professional attire.
But at this moment, Caden Lockwood had only given her some translation tasks and nothing else.
She knew she couldn’t be impatient.
Yet her urge to stand on her own never extinguished.
Especially when facing Shannon Dunn, Evelyn always wanted to prove something.
"Evelyn." Shannon greeted her familiarly, "How’s it going today? Is Caden still giving you translation tasks?"
To Evelyn’s ears, this sentence was especially barbed.
It was as if what Shannon really wanted to say was, "You’re only fit to do these little tasks. Want to stand by Caden’s side and become his work assistant? You’re dreaming!"
Evelyn took a deep breath. She couldn’t help admiring Shannon Dunn.
Last time, they clearly had a fight, and she had even scolded Shannon, yet Shannon could act as if nothing happened, always smiling whenever she saw her.
Evelyn felt inferior.
"Are you here to discuss business with Mr. Lockwood again?" Evelyn said with a not-so-friendly tone, "With you being so busy every day, you really deserve an Employee of the Month award."
"There’s no need for an award." Shannon chuckled, "As long as Caden recognizes my performance, that’s enough."
With that, Shannon knocked on Caden Lockwood’s office door, gave Evelyn a deliberate glance, then went inside.
Evelyn’s lips curled awkwardly, her expression visibly upset.
Wasn’t it said that Caden Lockwood wasn’t interested in women?
Yet every interaction between Caden Lockwood and Shannon Dunn seemed just fine!
Damn it!
Liars!
A bunch of liars!
How could she have believed the words of that scoundrel Julian Keaton?
Evelyn was upset and didn’t even want to look at the office, keeping her head down and continuing her own work.
Whatever Caden Lockwood and Shannon Dunn did inside, she wouldn’t care.
She didn’t want to watch!
But she couldn’t resist her curiosity.
Even knowing nothing could happen in the office, she couldn’t control her imagination, with images in her mind growing more exaggerated.
Turning her head slightly, she looked into the office, only to find Shannon’s back just blocking her view of Caden Lockwood.
Evelyn grew more resentful, her hand gripping the pen instinctively tight, her knuckles turning stark white.
She couldn’t focus on working any longer, constantly watching the office, wanting to find an excuse to go in and hear what Caden Lockwood and Shannon Dunn were discussing.
She couldn’t even take time to wonder what was wrong with her.
All in all, she just didn’t want Caden Lockwood and Shannon Dunn to be alone together.
Glancing at the translation manuscript in her hand, Evelyn took a deep breath, stood up, pushed open Caden Lockwood’s office door, and walked in.
Evelyn made quite a commotion, and as soon as she opened the door, Caden Lockwood and Shannon Dunn turned to look at her simultaneously.
In that instant, Evelyn suddenly felt embarrassed, and her restless heart finally calmed down a bit.
Oh my goodness!
What was she doing?
Was she crazy?
"What’s wrong?" Caden asked softly, his face showing no anger. When he saw Evelyn, the cold, stern expression slightly relaxed, and his brows were filled with tenderness.
