Caden Lockwood nodded, his gaze still fixed on Evelyn Morgan by his side.

He said softly, "I’ll accompany you to the dessert area. You can sit there and eat, and I’ll come over in twenty minutes. Call me if anything comes up."

Listening to Caden Lockwood’s arrangements, Evelyn Morgan felt a bit anxious.

Did he expect her to stay here alone for twenty minutes?

"Don’t be afraid." Caden easily saw through Evelyn’s wavering heart, "Nothing will happen."

With that, Caden Lockwood walked with Evelyn Morgan to the dessert area.

Shannon Dunn stood in place, watching Caden Lockwood’s back. He hadn’t even glanced at her, and yet he was actually escorting Evelyn Morgan to the dessert area?

Are they really that in love?

"I can manage." Evelyn said softly to Caden Lockwood, "You go ahead and take care of your business, don’t worry about me."

She didn’t want to appear as someone who needed constant care by his side.

"You’re no less than anyone here." Caden Lockwood said tenderly, planting a kiss on Evelyn’s forehead.

Then he gave her one last deep look before walking over to Shannon Dunn, who was waiting on the other side.

Evelyn lowered her gaze, her heart swelling with a certain tenderness. Sometimes, Caden Lockwood’s casual actions could fill her young heart and vanity.

She went to get a piece of cake, intending to sit quietly and eat for twenty minutes.

The host of this gathering was a remarkable figure, with significant business abroad. The Lockwood Group wanted to expand its influence internationally, and it was imperative to utilize all possible unifying resources.

In such a gathering, peace seemed out of place.

While Evelyn was inwardly praising the delicious cake, Eleanor Keaton sat down on the opposite chair.

Eleanor, still dressed beautifully, had some melancholy between her eyebrows, and there wasn’t a hint of happiness on her pretty face.

"You’ve won." Eleanor said to Evelyn, her eyes glistening with tears.

Evelyn stopped her hand from moving the cake, watching Eleanor with wary eyes.

"Do you know how much I like Brother Caden?" Eleanor choked, "From childhood till now, my dream has always been to marry him and be his wife. But suddenly you appeared and snatched him away. Do you know how much I hate you!"

"If you like someone, you should respect that person’s choice." Evelyn replied in an even tone, "Besides, it’s not like I schemed to take Caden from you, so why place all your anger on me?"

"I know it’s wrong for me to do this." Eleanor said, her face gentle, "But I just envy you, I’m jealous, and I wish I could replace you!"

Evelyn felt helpless.

Whether or not she could be replaced was not for her to decide.

Clearly, Caden Lockwood was the one making all these decisions.

However, she did feel a bit sorry for Eleanor.

"You know, Brother Caden rarely attends gatherings, and even when he occasionally does, he doesn’t bring a dance partner. You’re the first one." Eleanor pouted, "He really does treat you well."
