Evelyn shrugged, "Blame your own loose lips." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
Then, she gave Eleanor Keaton another look and didn’t plan to give any more explanation, just ran past her and away.
"Evelyn! Come back! Get back here!" Eleanor Keaton shouted anxiously, "I won’t lose! I can’t possibly lose! What did you do to me? You devil!"
Evelyn jogged back to the banquet hall, thinking how staying as far away from Eleanor Keaton as possible was the best idea.
Actually, when she first entered the hall, she heard Eleanor Keaton whispering to her friends that she would surely make Evelyn look awful.
So, when Eleanor Keaton pretended to approach her sincerely, she was already on alert.
However, she still didn’t know what Eleanor Keaton would do to her.
When she decided to attend the banquet, Evelyn had guessed someone here would be against her.
She didn’t want to disturb Caden Lockwood, nor did she want to be too passive, so Evelyn quietly had Cecilia Lynch waiting in the shadows, ready to help if needed.
So, when Eleanor Keaton tried to drag her to the bathroom, Evelyn secretly messaged Cecilia Lynch to check the bathroom.
As expected, Cecilia Lynch found something there that shouldn’t have been in the bathroom.
Handling someone causing trouble for the first time on her own, Evelyn still couldn’t stay completely calm.
Running back to the banquet, in her rush, she bumped into someone.
Evelyn hurriedly apologized, "Sorry! I didn’t mean to!"
She focused and saw the person in front of her was a man, apparently around the same age as Caden Lockwood.
The man was strikingly handsome, his long and narrow hawk-like eyes emitting a sharp cold light, surrounded by an aura of formidable power, this chillness even did not lose much to Caden Lockwood’s.
However, the man had an extra touch of dangerous gloominess, making people frightened.
Evelyn’s heart skipped a beat in fear, she instinctively stepped back, unsure what to do.
"Evelyn? Mrs. Lockwood?" The man slightly parted his lips, "Logan’s friend?"
"You... hello." Evelyn murmured softly, "May I ask... who are you?"
"My name is Liam Shaw." Liam Shaw said as he handed a business card to Evelyn, "Logan’s older brother."
Upon hearing this, Evelyn’s eyes widened abruptly.
Is this one of the family members hindering Logan Shaw from playing the piano?
"Why so surprised?" Liam Shaw spoke with an unchanged expression on his face, "Could it be that Logan has spoken ill of me in front of you?"
"No!" Evelyn quickly shook her head, "Logan isn’t someone who talks behind others’ backs!"
"Looks like you have quite a good relationship with him, defending him like this." Liam Shaw’s lips curved into a faint smile, "If you weren’t Mrs. Lockwood, I might have thought you wanted to become Mrs. Shaw."
Hearing this, Evelyn’s brows knitted tightly.
It always felt like Liam Shaw was speaking with a hidden meaning.
"Does Mr. Shaw not have any friends he can completely trust like this?" Evelyn asked lightly, "Or has Mr. Shaw gotten used to approaching everyone with suspicion and scrutiny? Can you still have real friends like that?"
Listening to Evelyn’s words, a glint of meaning flashed in Liam Shaw’s eyes.
Liam Shaw’s lips curled up slightly, parting them lightly, "A person with a temper!"
Evelyn took a deep breath, facing Liam Shaw, she always felt something strange.
However, there were some things she had long wanted to say to Liam Shaw.
"Mr. Shaw." Evelyn’s brows furrowed slightly, "You are a businessman, some of your ideas I can understand. But Logan is your younger brother, isn’t being family about hoping your loved ones around you live well?"
She paused, then continued, "Logan isn’t shirking his responsibilities, he’s just doing something he loves and that could bring glory to The Shaw Family. I think you could think about his inner world from an older brother’s perspective, rather than a businessman’s, not just grooming your brother into a money-making machine."
As she finished speaking, Evelyn slightly nodded to Liam Shaw, "If there’s anything offensive, I hope Mr. Shaw can forgive me."
Liam Shaw stood in place, watching Evelyn’s departing figure, the curve at the corner of his lips gradually deepening.
There was a deep and complex look in his eyes that others couldn’t understand...
