Slowly Falling into His Love Trap
Chapter 354: I Am the True Mrs. Lockwood
"Run away?" Evelyn’s face showed a faint smile, "You seem to have gotten it wrong, I’m just going home to rest."
Evelyn faced Shannon Dunn directly, standing tall and proud, with a gleam in her eye, showing no intention of compromise.
"You don’t need to pretend in front of me, I know there’s conflict between you and Caden, and you must have discovered some truths, right?" Shannon spoke with a mysterious smile on her face.
Hearing Shannon’s words, Evelyn’s eyes narrowed slightly.
Could it be that Shannon also knows about the dead girl?
She didn’t want to hear about this matter from others.
No matter what, she had to wait for Caden and confront him in person.
She wanted him to give her an answer, whatever that answer might be, she wanted him to say it himself.
If he really intended to avoid her for life.
Then she would live her life under the title of "Mrs. Lockwood," tarnishing his name, causing him trouble, reminding him that his life once included her!
"Heartbroken?" Shannon wasn’t sounding aggressive, rather she seemed somewhat sympathetic, "It’s quite a blow, isn’t it? After all, you’ve been out of sorts for several days."
Evelyn frowned, feeling even more uncomfortable with Shannon’s sympathy.
"I’ve hinted and told you explicitly, don’t covet things too far out of reach." Shannon sighed heavily, "People are always like this; when in elementary school, they fantasize about getting into Peking or Tsinghua University; when in love for the first time, they dream about a handsome, wealthy, and caring partner. But in reality, you’re only going to get a harsh wake-up call."
"This sounds quite philosophical." Evelyn shrugged, her pretty face full of indifference.
After a pause, she continued, "However, Tsinghua and Peking University admit many students every year, and attractive, wealthy, and caring men do find their partners. Those seemingly lucky people actually put in double the effort."
Before Shannon could speak, Evelyn coldly interrupted, "Aren’t you the same? You didn’t come from a well-off family and lived on scholarships all along. Yet now, aren’t you also coveting things that were once very far from your reach?"
"You!"
"I’m not inferior to you," Evelyn’s tone was full of strong determination, "In front of me, you have nothing to be proud of. At least in terms of character, I’m much better than you."
With that, Evelyn rolled her eyes at Shannon and brushed past her.
"You think you’re better than me?" Shannon said, as if she’d heard a hilarious joke, "Evelyn, you’ll never catch up with me!"
"But I am better than you!" Evelyn raised her voice, not stopping as she walked away, "I’m the one who became ’Mrs. Lockwood,’ the one pampered and cherished by my husband repeatedly, and I didn’t pretend to approach a married man without ulterior motives, acting all outstanding in front of him while secretly trying to win his affection." 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Evelyn laughed coldly, turning back to look at Shannon, saying coldly, "Even if you won’t admit it verbally, your heart must be seething with jealousy, right? You only hate because you’re jealous."
With that, Evelyn couldn’t be bothered to argue with Shannon any longer and took a cab directly back to the villa.
Shannon stood in place, clenching her fists tightly, her eyes flashing with a cold, menacing light.
"Jealous?" Shannon’s voice squeezed through her teeth, "Evelyn, I am the real Mrs. Lockwood, legitimate, and will truly be so! And even Caden can’t refuse that!"
In her tone was a complex and unfathomable depth...
