Chapter 356: Chapter 356: What Kind of Woman Do You Want as a Wife

Evelyn Morgan kept waiting for Caden Lockwood to return, as if it had become a habit, she stopped tormenting herself and acted like everything was fine, finding things to do every day with optimism.

But every deep night, a very faint sound of crying would come from her bedroom...

On the weekend, Julian Keaton attended that so-called engagement ceremony as planned.

Standing in front of the mirror in the dressing room, his lips curled into a cold arc, making him appear exceptionally aloof and stern.

He thought: If he weren’t the heir of The Keaton Family, would that woman still want to marry him?

Taking a deep breath, Julian stood in place, motionless, with Cecilia Lynch’s image still in his mind.

It was then that he realized he and Cecilia had never even had a token between them.

When he thought of her, he could only imagine her likeness in his mind.

They didn’t even have a single photo together.

He was so familiar with her body, yet they had never done any of the things couples should do.

"Cece..." Julian’s voice was very small, "What are you doing now?"

"Bro! What are you doing? Aren’t you ready yet?" Eleanor Keaton shouted from downstairs, "If we don’t leave now, we’ll be late!"

Julian’s brow tightened, and his hands unconsciously clenched into fists.

Because he wasn’t attentive, he didn’t even know who the woman he was going to meet was.

With each step he took, his movements felt heavy.

Seeing the joyful faces of his family, his heart felt as though it was being trampled by a thousand horses—aching.

Upon arriving at the hotel, Julian finally realized that the arranged marriage partner his parents had chosen for him was Hannah Clayton.

He was puzzled; the Clayton Family had already become an isolated family, so why did his parents still choose them?

Hannah sat shyly across from Julian, saying things that pleased his parents immensely.

"I was immature in the past and embarrassed myself at the banquet. I was disciplined by my father after returning home, and I’ve already corrected myself. I hope Uncle, Aunt, and Julian can give me a chance to make amends," Hannah said softly.

"Silly child, you’re still young, making some mistakes is quite normal. Besides, I think a single hand can’t clap on its own," Mr. Keaton gently comforted her.

"Exactly!" Mrs. Keaton also expressed satisfaction with Hannah, "What happened in the past is in the past. From now on, you can’t call us Uncle and Aunt anymore. You have to change that, don’t you think?"

"Mom, you’re too impatient, aren’t you?" Eleanor laughed slyly, "You haven’t even given her a change-of-title fee, yet you want her to change it already?"

"Oh! Eleanor! You’re annoying!" Hannah’s face turned red as she sneaked a glance at Julian, who still looked like an iceberg with no expression.

Her heart was filled with deep satisfaction; after waiting so long, she was finally going to become Julian’s bride!

The two families’ elders had already discussed it; they would find a lucky day soon to let her marry into The Keaton Family.

"After knowing you for so long, this is the first time I’ve seen you shy!" Eleanor joked.

Mr. Clayton glanced at Julian, then at Mr. Keaton, and sighed, "Ah—Hannah inadvertently offended powerful people; I haven’t been able to sleep thinking about it these past few days."

"Dad, it’s my fault." Hannah’s eyes suddenly reddened, "I just hate that I’m not capable enough to help you, and instead created trouble."

"These are small matters. Don’t cry; today is your engagement day with Julian. You must smile for good fortune." Mr. Keaton spoke solemnly, "This matter was mainly caused by Mrs. Lockwood. Julian and Caden have a good relationship; it’s naturally resolved after smoothing it over."

"That’s truly appreciated!" Mr. Clayton said quickly, "Hannah, after you marry into the Keaton Family, you must serve your in-laws and Julian well; you can’t act recklessly anymore."

"I understand." Hannah replied, "Thank you, father-in-law, mother-in-law, thank you, Julian."

Julian raised his brows, glancing at the families, who had already merged into one. A disdainful smile appeared on his face.

"So, is this the purpose of this engagement banquet?" Julian’s voice was ice-cold, "How much profit will this cooperation between the Keaton and Clayton families bring you? Yet, from the time I was born until now, no one has ever asked me what kind of woman I want to be my wife?"
