Slowly Falling into His Love Trap
Chapter 363: The Secret That Can’t Be Told to Anyone
"No matter what happens, go back and talk to her!" Julian Keaton gently urged, "Caden Lockwood who is by Evelyn Morgan’s side smiles, jokes, gets angry, and softens – he’s a normal human being. But you, who have lost Evelyn Morgan, are not Caden Lockwood, just a noble man with a glamorous shell."
"Julian..." Caden Lockwood’s voice was low and hoarse, "I seem... I can’t protect her anymore; I seem... I’m going to lose her."
"What on earth happened?" Julian Keaton grew anxious, "What big thing happened to make you like this?"
Caden Lockwood closed his eyes, the veins on his temple throbbing, "I should never have kept her, I should have let her leave my side."
When he opened his eyes, Caden Lockwood’s face showed intense pain, "I shouldn’t have loved her, I... should let go."
"Caden Lockwood!" Julian Keaton raised his voice, "Do you know what you’re saying?"
Julian Keaton was somewhat flustered, knowing for sure that something serious had happened.
"Look at what you’ve become! Where’s that arrogant you? Where’s that imposing you? Huh? Where’s that Caden Lockwood?" Julian Keaton demanded.
Caden Lockwood didn’t speak, a bitter curve appeared at the corner of his mouth.
"Have you forgotten, you told me yourself! You said you would protect Evelyn Morgan, because nothing in the world was more important than her! You said you would do everything you could to keep her!" Julian Keaton grabbed the collar of Caden Lockwood’s shirt, "When you said that back then, did you know how envious I was?"
Taking a deep breath, Julian Keaton continued, "I wavered between family and Cece, always thinking about the words you said! I took those words as the coordinates for my own progress and choices because you went through it this way, and you did it right, did it successfully."
Julian Keaton lowered his eyes, "But now you’re telling me, you can’t keep her? Then what am I supposed to do, someone who’s only just starting to choose to fight?"
Looking at Julian Keaton, Caden Lockwood’s eyes shimmered with traces of tears.
Opening his thin lips slightly, Caden Lockwood spoke in a very gentle voice, "The problems you face are much easier than mine."
"Caden..."
"That girl called Yvonne Rhodes, she... jumped to her death." Caden Lockwood shook his head in agony, his thick brows twisted like a hemp rope, "I killed her! It’s my fault!"
Hearing this, Julian Keaton’s body went slack, a look of horror surged onto his face, and his hand gripping Caden Lockwood’s collar instantly released.
"She’s dead, and the next one will be..." Caden Lockwood clenched his fist, the veins on it bulging aggressively.
He gritted his teeth, squeezing out those two unfinished words: "Evelyn."
Julian Keaton’s pupils shrank with fear, murmuring the question, "How did Yvonne Rhodes... jump off?"
Caden Lockwood said nothing, the tragic and terrifying scene of Yvonne Rhodes right before her death still replaying in his mind.
Julian Keaton took a deep breath; he was aware of Yvonne Rhodes’ situation.
The secret related to Yvonne Rhodes, that no one could know, the secret involving The Lockwood Family, was something Caden Lockwood had once told Julian Keaton when he was drunk and especially distraught.
Julian Keaton quickly composed himself, not letting himself get caught up in negative emotions too.
"So what?" Julian Keaton’s voice carried a slight tremor, "Yvonne Rhodes was just an outsider, Evelyn Morgan is the woman you love, and as her husband, it’s your duty to protect your wife! What right do you have now to retreat or be cowardly?"
