Sold for 300, I Fight Back with Superpowers
Chapter 166: Grandma God of Wealth
Li Huan explained helplessly to Shang Yuqi, "Mom, I don’t just go around talking to strangers. I only got to know Su Qing because something about her eyes looked familiar."
"Oh?" Shang Yuqi looked over at Li Huan. "Who does she look like?"
"Mom, you won’t believe it," Li Huan said quickly. "Su Qing’s eyes look just like Grandma’s."
"Your grandma?"
"Yes, they’re an incredible match," Li Huan said quickly. "I’ve seen photos of Grandma when she was young, and I thought they looked similar at first. The more I thought about it, the more I realized it’s true. Her eyes are a perfect match for Grandma’s back then—they’re practically identical."
"They’re that similar?" Shang Yuqi was a little surprised. She had also seen photos of her mother-in-law in her youth. She was indeed stunning, especially her eyes, which were truly unforgettable. None of her mother-in-law’s children had inherited those eyes, so it was hard to imagine a complete stranger could resemble her so closely.
"I swear, they’re an incredible match," Li Huan said solemnly, holding up two fingers.
Shang Yuqi couldn’t help but smile, gently swatting her daughter’s hand down. "Alright, alright, no need for oaths."
"Hehe, I just wanted to show you I’m telling the truth," Li Huan said, wheedling her mother with a grin.
"Alright, I believe you," Shang Yuqi said, looking at her daughter with a sigh. But she still felt the need to add a reminder, "You’ve only just met, after all. You need to be careful. You know what they say: you can know a person’s face, but you can’t know their heart. Don’t be so naive that you tell her your whole life story before you even know anything about her, understand?"
"Okay, I get it, Mom. Don’t worry, I understand." Hearing this, Li Huan knew her mother wasn’t opposed to her new friend, and she agreed with a bright smile. Remembering what Su Qing had said, she quickly added, "Oh, right! She said she sent me a package. I guess I’ll get it after the New Year."
"Fine. I won’t meddle in the affairs of you young ladies," Shang Yuqi said with a smile. "I can’t chat anymore, I have to get dinner started. Your dad and brother will be back soon."
"Okay, Mom, I’ll help," Li Huan said with a giggle. The mother and daughter headed to the kitchen, chatting and laughing.
When Su Qing arrived at Fu Yuzhen’s home, the family had just finished lunch. They were all delighted to see her.
Fu Yuzhen quickly asked, "Xiao Qing, when did you get back? Have you eaten? Let me get you something."
Su Qing quickly replied, "Aunt Fu, I’ve eaten already. I got back yesterday."
She then greeted Pan Runqing and his two sons. The Pan brothers had gotten to know Su Qing again after the incident at the hospital, and they were both happy to see her.
"Aunt Fu, Uncle Pan, I brought you some local specialties from Yun Province." Su Qing took the items out of her wicker basket one by one. In addition to pastries and candy, there was a scarf for Fu Yuzhen and Pu’er tea for Pan Runqing. Since Uncle Pan loved tea, Su Qing had made a point to buy some for him on her trip.
There was also some smoked wild rabbit, smoked pheasant, and cured bacon.
Seeing that Su Qing had once again brought them so many gifts, Fu Yuzhen and Pan Runqing knew they couldn’t possibly refuse, so they accepted everything.
Fu Yuzhen said to Su Qing, "Xiao Qing, New Year’s Eve is just a few days away. You should come celebrate with our family. It will be nice and lively."
"Yeah, yeah, Sister Xiaoqing! Come over! My brother and I can take you to set off firecrackers," Pan Youshan added with a grin.
Su Qing smiled. "I won’t come for New Year’s Eve. The Old Su Family will probably insist I go there, so I have to at least make an appearance."
Su Qing had no intention of actually spending the holiday with the Old Su Family, but she didn’t want to impose on the Pan Family either. Besides, their home was just a two-bedroom apartment. If she came for New Year’s Eve, she would have to stay the night, which would be inconvenient for everyone. Therefore, Su Qing planned to spend the New Year alone.
Thinking of the Old Su Family, Fu Yuzhen could only say, "Alright, then. In that case, come over on the second day of the New Year. I’ll make dumplings for you."
"Okay!" Su Qing didn’t turn down this invitation. She smiled. "Then I won’t stand on ceremony. I’ll come over on the second. Thank you for having me, Aunt Fu and Uncle Pan."
"It’s no trouble at all," Pan Runqing said with a laugh. "Your Aunt Fu is always happy to have you."
Since Fu Yuzhen and Pan Runqing hadn’t started their holiday break and still had to work that afternoon, Su Qing didn’t stay at the Pan Family’s home for long. She chatted for a little while before taking her leave.
Seeing it was still early, Su Qing decided to make another trip to the black market to sell a batch of goods. ’My dimensional space is completely full right now,’ she thought. ’If I don’t unload some of this, I won’t have room for anything the next time I go into the mountains.’
"Oh, Aunt Feng, you’re finally here!" Zhang Erlai was overjoyed to see Su Qing. The last few batches of goods he’d gotten from her had sold exceptionally well. After he sold out, she hadn’t come by for a long time. He even had customers placing pre-orders, specifically requesting her goods and refusing any substitutes.
So, for more than a month, Zhang Erlai had been eagerly awaiting her return. Now that the Little New Year was past and New Year’s Eve was fast approaching, it was a period of high sales volume and even higher prices. If he could get a shipment from Su Qing now, he stood to make a much bigger profit.
Naturally, when Zhang Erlai saw Su Qing, it was like looking at the Grandma God of Wealth herself.
"I’ve been a bit busy lately, so I couldn’t make it over," Su Qing said with a faint smile.
"Not a problem, not a problem at all." Zhang Erlai was getting much better at handling procurement, so A Cheng had completely handed over that part of the black market operation to him. "It’s right before the New Year, so Aunt Feng, your timing is perfect."
Su Qing smiled. "The usual place, then. This time, I’m selling eight wild boars and some wild rabbits and pheasants."
"That’s fantastic!" Zhang Erlai’s eyes lit up. ’Eight wild boars! That has to be at least two or three thousand pounds. Even after dressing them, I’d still have over a thousand pounds of meat. If I manage this well, I can make a huge profit before the New Year.’
At once, Zhang Erlai said with a smile, "Aunt Feng, I won’t cheat you. With the New Year rush, the price for this stuff is higher. So, I’ll raise my buying price for you, too. I’ll give you a ten percent increase across the board."
"Alright, thanks." Su Qing hadn’t expected Zhang Erlai to offer a price increase himself, so she readily accepted. ’After all,’ she thought, ’who’s going to say no to more money?’
Once the deal was settled, Zhang Erlai rubbed his hands together with a smile. "Aunt Feng, there’s one more thing I wanted to ask you."
"What is it?" Su Qing asked.
"Well, I was wondering... do you have any more mushrooms?"
