Chapter 42: Chapter 42: You Lunatic

"Not okay my ass." Old Su glared at Aunt Cuihua. "I’m her biological grandmother. What’s wrong with my own granddaughter giving her grandma a few pounds of pork? Do I need to get in line?"

Aunt Cuihua especially looked down on Old Su now, despising her to the absolute limit. Unintimidated, she sneered, "Biological grandmother? Aunt Su, no offense, but the things you used to do to Su Qing... would a real grandmother do that? You didn’t seem like a grandmother, more like an enemy. No real grandmother torments her own granddaughter to death."

"You..." Just as Old Su was about to speak, Su Qing, having heard the commotion outside, walked out quickly. She said to Old Su, "Grandma, am I behind on your support payments?"

Old Su turned to glare at Su Qing. ’Su Qing had given her the support money for the rest of the year right in front of Zhao Youcai and Wang Xuehong. If she dared to say it was late, who knew what kind of trouble this damn girl would stir up.’

Seeing Old Su’s expression, Su Qing sneered. "Since I’m not behind on your support payments, I won’t stop you from buying pork. Please get in the back of the line."

Old Su choked with anger. ’The line was so long already. By the time it was her turn, would there be any good cuts left?’

’I’m this girl’s biological grandmother; why can’t she just give me a few pounds of pork?’

"Erya," Old Su said huffily.

Su Qing couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow. ’Well, well, well. In all these years, this was probably the first time the old woman had called her Erya. Before, it was always "damn girl," "worthless girl," or "damn brat." The sun must have risen in the west today.’

Then she heard Old Su say, "I’m your grandma. It’s only natural that you give me meat to eat, isn’t it?"

Su Qing nodded. This gesture stunned the watching villagers for a moment. ’Did Su Qing just agree?’ Meanwhile, Old Su was secretly pleased. ’As expected, this girl still cares about her reputation in front of everyone. Right, this is a matter of her good name. No matter how tough this damn girl gets, she still needs her reputation.’

But before Old Su could get too smug, she heard Su Qing say, "It’s only natural for the younger generation to show respect to their elders. It’s just a pity that you don’t deserve it."

"What!" Old Su’s face changed in an instant. "What did you say, you damn girl?"

"I said, you—don’t—deserve—it," Su Qing said, raising an eyebrow and enunciating each word.

"You!" Old Su was so angry she was about to hit Su Qing. Su Qing said coldly, "You’re my biological grandma, so I can’t hit you. But if you dare to touch me, I’ll go beat up your grandson. I’ve said it before, if you people bully me again, I’ll drag you down with me. Go ahead and try me if you don’t believe it."

"You, you..." Old Su doted on Su Lihui the most. Hearing Su Qing’s threat and knowing she was serious, she choked out, "You were the one who injured Xiao Hui last time."

"What injury? Where was he injured?" Su Qing raised an eyebrow. "Grandma, you’re not talking about that time you brought Su Lihui to my doorstep, pretending he was hurt to extort money, are you?"

"HAHAHAHAHA!" Hearing Su Qing, a villager chimed in, "Su Qing, I’ll be your witness! Your grandma was definitely trying to get money out of you last time. That Su Lihui didn’t have a single scratch on him, he was just wailing and screaming about how much it hurt."

"This is none of your business." Old Su was furious. ’Most of the people in this village are on Su Qing’s side,’ she fumed internally.

"Now, Grandma, that’s not right. You can’t stop righteous bystanders from upholding justice," Su Qing said coolly.

"That’s right, we’re upholding justice!"

"You, you, you..." Old Su turned back to Su Qing, pointing a trembling finger at her, her chest tight with rage. ’This damn girl! Before, you couldn’t get a peep out of her even if you hit her three times with a stick. And now look at her, with that sharp tongue, retorting with ten sentences for every one of yours. This isn’t a granddaughter, she’s a curse!’

Just then, Su Lihui came running over from the old Su Family house, shouting as he ran, "Grandma, why haven’t you gotten the meat yet? I want to eat meat!"

Su Qing turned to look at Su Lihui, her gaze icy.

Su Lihui was the classic type to forget the pain once the wound had healed. The last time Su Qing had hit him, there were no marks on his body, but he had ached all over. His father took him to the city, but they couldn’t find anything wrong; the doctors all said he was perfectly healthy. Then, the pain suddenly vanished and never came back.

So, he decided Su Qing wasn’t that tough after all. ’The pain must have been from something else, something the doctors just couldn’t find. Otherwise, why would it have suddenly disappeared?’ He glared fiercely at Su Qing. "Damn girl, hurry up and give Grandma the meat! She needs to go home and cook it for me."

Su Lihui was used to bullying Su Qing over the years. He had always yelled at her like this, even in front of the other villagers, so he thought nothing of it today.

Su Qing let out a cold laugh and said to Old Su, "Grandma, you see? This is what your precious grandson calls me."

"So what if I call you that? I’m gonna beat you up, too!" Emboldened by Old Su’s presence, Su Lihui raised a fist and advanced on Su Qing.

Old Su had a bad feeling. Before she could open her mouth to say anything, she saw Su Qing kick out at Su Lihui.

"OWW—" Su Lihui never expected Su Qing would kick him in front of so many people. Caught completely off guard, he was sent sprawling to the ground by her kick, his backside throbbing with pain.

"Ah, you damn girl, you dare kick me! You..." Su Lihui pointed at Su Qing, cursing in a rage.

"You’re the one I’m hitting. If you dare to act up again, I’ll hit you again."

"You cheap slut! You bitch! You stinking whore!" Su Lihui was livid. Being kicked in front of so many people was a huge loss of face. He grabbed a nearby rock, scrambled up recklessly, and lunged toward Su Qing’s head. "I’ll smash your head in!" 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

The crowd was stunned by the string of profanities spewing from Su Lihui’s mouth. Seeing him try to attack Su Qing with the rock, some people rushed to intervene. Someone even shouted to Old Su, who was closest, "Aunt Su, hurry and stop Lihui!"

Old Su didn’t move a muscle. ’She was secretly hoping Su Lihui would give Su Qing a good thrashing and knock her down a peg.’

Without a second word, Su Qing grabbed the butcher knife from Mr. Jin beside her, aiming the gleaming blade at Su Lihui. "Go on. Give it a try. Let’s see if you smash my head in first, or if I stab you to death first."

"Ah!" The crowd gasped again. Old Su’s legs went weak, and she nearly collapsed. ’That damn girl Su Qing has gone crazy! She actually pulled a knife!’

As for Su Lihui, he froze in his tracks. Staring at the gleaming butcher knife, he pathetically swallowed his saliva.

’Try?’

’Try my ass!’

Su Lihui was the type to forget a beating, but he wasn’t an idiot. How could he, with just a rock, act tough against someone holding a knife? Besides, the way Su Qing looked holding that knife inexplicably merged with the image of her whipping him with that tree branch. For some reason, Su Lihui suddenly felt his body start to ache all over again.

Su Lihui threw out a parting threat, "Just you wait!" then turned and bolted for home, not even sparing a glance for Old Su, whose face was pale with fright.

Seeing Su Lihui run off, Su Qing lowered the knife and looked coldly at Old Su. "Grandma, you see? When I snap, I really snap. Do you still want to try me?"

"You... you’re a lunatic!" Old Su felt her body begin to tremble. ’This granddaughter of hers had become terrifying.’
