Sold for 300, I Fight Back with Superpowers
Chapter 72: Murderous Intent
Da Dong and Taozi simply couldn’t believe their eyes. What were they seeing?
Why could those ordinary-looking vines on the ground fly up on their own, spontaneously form a thick wall to block bullets—and most importantly, actually block them!
And the source of it all!
The two men turned their terrified gazes toward Su Qing.
Su Qing snorted, kicking away Da Dong, who was grabbing her leg, and sending him tumbling. Da Dong fell to the ground, stunned, and couldn’t recover for a long moment.
"You... you... you know Demon Art!" Taozi finally found his voice. He looked at Su Qing in terror. With a twitch of his hand, he fired another bullet at her.
The next moment, not only was the bullet blocked, but even the gun in his hand was tightly wrapped in vines and flew toward Su Qing.
Then, he watched helplessly as the gun flew before Su Qing’s eyes and suddenly vanished.
"Ah!" Taozi stared at his empty hands, then looked at Su Qing in terror. "You... just what are you?"
When he was a child, he’d heard the old folks say that some ancient plants in the deep mountains, cleansed by the essence of the sun and moon, would transform into spirits. He had always treated these as mere stories, but today, he had personally witnessed this woman before him manipulating vines and making things vanish into thin air. He instantly believed it. "You... you’re not human. You’re... you’re a spirit."
"You’re the one who’s not human." Hearing this, Su Qing was angered and controlled the vines to whip Taozi a few times.
"Ah!" Taozi cried out in pain. By now, he and Da Dong had come to their senses. They struggled to their feet, wanting to run. Whether the woman before them was human or a spirit, they couldn’t afford to provoke her. The only sensible thing to do now was run.
However, now that they had seen her superpower, how could Su Qing possibly let them leave? With a single thought, the vines bound the two of them up tightly.
"Milady, we were wrong, so wrong! We shouldn’t have provoked you. You’re a magnanimous person, please let us go." Seeing they couldn’t escape, Da Dong and Taozi quickly begged for mercy. At that moment, they bitterly regretted slacking off and coming to this remote place to chat. Their only hope now was that their companions had heard the gunshots and would come to rescue them.
Though, they weren’t sure if their companions would even be a match for the spirit before them.
"You saw something you shouldn’t have." Killing intent had already risen in Su Qing’s heart. She had fought her way out of the apocalypse; she wasn’t that kind-hearted deep down. After all, kind people never lived long in the end times. Since transmigrating to this era, she had actually restrained herself a lot. This was a peaceful era, one where you had to obey the law. Besides, in this era, she didn’t have to face those hideous, stinking zombies and completely twisted human natures. Even the people from the Old Su Family, as malicious as they were, weren’t enough to make her want to kill.
But these two men before her were different.
They were from Xiangcheng. Given their identities and the environment over there, their hands were definitely stained with blood. What’s more, they had discovered her secret. Setting everything else aside, for the sole reason that they had found her secret, she had to silence them. After all, she had no desire to be dissected for research.
"No, no, no, we didn’t see anything! We didn’t see a thing!" Taozi’s mind worked fast. The moment he heard Su Qing’s words, he started shouting frantically, "Milady, spare us! We promise we won’t say a word about what happened today, okay? Please, we’re begging you, don’t kill us!"
However vicious they were on a normal day, they were just as cowardly now.
"Only one kind of person can keep a secret," Su Qing said with a faint smile.
Seeing Su Qing’s faint smile, layers of cold sweat broke out on Taozi and Da Dong’s backs. A sense of impending doom, the terror of imminent destruction, seized their hearts.
"I promise! I promise I won’t say anything! Milady, I swear to heaven!" Da Dong shouted at Su Qing in terror.
Su Qing watched Da Dong coldly without a word, secretly manipulating the vines on their bodies.
And so, Da Dong and Taozi could only watch helplessly as the vines on their bodies began to move slowly, inching toward their necks. With every inch the vines crept, their hearts tightened further.
The fear of death enveloped them.
At that moment, they suddenly thought of the people they had tortured to death in the past. Did those people feel this same terror, watching death approach while being utterly powerless to stop it?
"There are more than just the two of us in these mountains!" Da Dong suddenly yelled at Su Qing with all his might. "If you kill us, you won’t get away! Someone will avenge us! If you know what’s good for you, you’ll let us go! I promise we won’t tell your secret! Otherwise... Mmph! Mmph!"
Before Da Dong could finish, a clump of vines stuffed his mouth, choking him until his eyes rolled back in his head.
Seeing this, Taozi clamped his mouth shut. He trembled all over as he looked at Su Qing, his eyes pleading, hoping that she would have a sudden burst of kindness and spare his life.
But no amount of pleading was of any use. He watched helplessly as the vines wrapped around his own neck. He saw the creepers coil around Da Dong’s neck, saw trickles of blood seep from the cuts on his skin, saw Da Dong convulse in terror and die.
Taozi felt the pain on his own neck. He wanted to scream, but the moment he opened his mouth, the vines crawled inside. He couldn’t make a sound. He felt his breathing become more and more difficult, and the scene before him grew blurry. Something seemed to be flowing from his neck.
’It must be blood.’
Taozi took one last look at the woman standing not far away, his heart filled with infinite regret. ’If I had known, I never should have followed Da Dong to provoke this woman. Or maybe... I never should have come here at all...’
Su Qing stood by a tree, silently absorbing the green mist as she watched the two men slowly breathe their last before her.
This was the first time she had killed since transmigrating to this era.
What a strange yet familiar feeling!
Another thought, and the vines that had been wrapped around the two men released them and burrowed into the ground. In no time, the soil loosened. The vines dragged the two men’s corpses, along with the three bullets and the fallen casings, deep into the earth. Su Qing quietly sensed the depth, and once they reached a suitable spot, she commanded the vines to pack the earth down, layer by layer, until it was firm.
Afterward, a patch of vines covered the area, leaving not a single trace that it had been disturbed.
After finishing all this, Su Qing took a deep breath and turned to walk out of the mountains. Behind her, patches of vines moved to cover her path, completely obliterating her footprints.
And not long after Su Qing left, several people hurried over to the spot.
