Solving Middle Age Crisis by Intelligence System
Chapter 714 - 468: Shouldn’t Xiao Hanguang Be Worshiping Me? (Part 2)
"Okay, I will convey your message to him."
"Well, regarding last night, did that Congressman Benjamin contact you?"
Miller shook his head: "Benjamin didn’t contact me. Although the Aryan Brotherhood suffered significant losses, it won’t affect Benjamin’s interests. It’s just..."
He hesitated for a moment, then reminded, "Sir, I could feel Benny’s fury over the phone. He will likely send many people over, so you should be cautious."
Qi Yun smiled, pleased with this lackey’s performance, knowing that he was showing concern for his master.
"I came to see you because of this matter."
"In the next two days, no matter the pressure you face here, you have to withstand it. By the day after tomorrow at the latest, I will take care of that Congressman Benjamin."
Upon hearing this, Miller’s pupils shrank suddenly.
Take care of Congressman Benjamin?
"Sir, you mean...."
Clearly, he misunderstood, thinking Qi Yun intended to eliminate Benjamin.
After all, Benjamin is a city councilman. If he were to die inexplicably, it would definitely be a sensational event. The state police and even the FBI would get involved, with an intensified investigation.
Moreover, this guy’s record isn’t clean. Having operated in Anchorage for many years, his connections are deeply entrenched. Those who collude with him would also investigate the cause of his death.
Qi Yun glanced at him and said calmly, "Force is not the best way to solve problems. I will make him submit with strength."
"Uh..."
"Alright, remember what I said to you." Qi Yun reminded him, then signaled Xiao Wu to drive away.
Miller watched the tail lights of the car gradually disappear, his expression complicated.
Just a while ago, he had used his connections to investigate Qi Yun’s background, learning of his role as a special advisor to Guo An in Huaxia.
"No wonder he’s so calm..."
However, Miller didn’t care if Qi Yun was truly working for that country, as long as he could continue to make money, as long as those things remained undiscovered.
Those were his two simple wishes.
The earlier warning was just a feigned gesture of goodwill, while his recent concern stemmed from fear, worried about truly attracting FBI attention.
The already departed Qi Yun was unaware of Miller’s inner turmoil, as all his thoughts were focused on how to tackle the future mayor and the nuclear energy seawater purification technology.
You have to eat one bite at a time, so first tackle the immediate troubles.
...
Seattle, compared to its developed manufacturing industry, is a city more people know from movies.
It’s not only the largest city in Washington state but also the stronghold of the Northwest United States.
In a downtown coffee shop, Qi Yun brushed the snowflakes off his windbreaker, pulled out a chair, and sat down.
"Sir, may I take your order?" a busty black woman came over to ask.
"Just two coffees, please."
"Alright."
Soon after the waitress left, the shop door was pushed open again, and a middle-aged black man wearing a newsboy cap walked in.
With Qi Yun’s table as the only customers, he scanned the room and sat directly across from Qi Yun.
"James?" Qi Yun scrutinized the older black man across from him, noting his large nose and goatee, as he was a private investigator Qi Yun found online.
"Yes, sir," James replied.
After confirming his identity, Qi Yun took a note from his pocket and pushed it over: "This is the person I need you to investigate. I need to know about her family situation and financial status."
He then turned his head to look through the window at the burger shop across the street, "She works over there."
James glanced at the note, followed Qi Yun’s gaze to the burger shop, and nodded, "No problem, sir. If it’s just this simple information, I can get you an answer by nightfall."
"The fee... will be two thousand USD."
Two thousand USD is not a small amount, equating to a month’s salary for an average local person.
But for Qi Yun, it was just a drop in the bucket. He pulled a wad of cash from his bag, about ten bills, and handed it over: "This is a deposit. Contact me when it’s done."
James didn’t waste words, accepting the money and then getting up to leave.
After finishing his coffee, Qi Yun rented a room in the nearby hotel, patiently waiting.
In the evening, James brought the information he needed, and it was detailed.
The girl’s name was Emily, both parents were Mexican immigrants, and the family was struggling financially.
Her father worked in a repair shop and fell into depression with suicidal tendencies after Emily was assaulted, causing her to drop out of school.
Her mother was unable to work, staying by her daughter’s side daily.
Benjamin had tried to settle with fifty thousand US dollars, but the Rodriguez family refused, after which they experienced various harassments and threats, ultimately fleeing Alaska and moving to Seattle.
"Heh, he truly is a bastard," Qi Yun sneered coldly after reading the information.
After dismissing the private detective, he took Xiao Wu and left the hotel, heading to the house rented by Emily’s family.
The door was opened by Emily’s mother, a middle-aged woman with a haggard face and wary eyes.
"Who are you looking for?" She clutched the door frame tightly.
"Mrs. Rodriguez?" Qi Yun tried to appear as friendly as possible, "I come from Alaska and want to talk about what happened to Emily."
At the mention of Alaska, the woman’s expression changed instantly, attempting to close the door.
"Wait!" Qi Yun quickly used his foot to block the door, controlling the force and not forcing his way in.
"I mean no harm, nor am I associated with Benjamin. Quite the opposite, I’m here to help you."
Upon hearing this, the woman’s eyes were filled with suspicion, glancing back and forth between Qi Yun and Xiao Wu. Her grip loosened slightly but she did not completely let down her guard.
"Help us? We don’t need help, please leave." Her voice trembled slightly.
"Mrs. Rodriguez, this is Seattle. If I really intended to harm you, I wouldn’t come with just one companion, and I certainly wouldn’t be talking to you like this at your doorstep." Qi Yun explained calmly.
"I know what your family has been through, I know what Benjamin’s son did, and I’m here to seek justice for you. Please give me five minutes."
"I just want to talk, and perhaps I can offer a chance to make those who hurt you pay."
The woman hesitated, her expression conflicted, and after a few seconds, she finally stepped aside: "Come... come in, but keep it down, Emily took her medication and is resting upstairs."
Qi Yun walked into the house alone, leaving Xiao Wu to wait outside.
The house was dimly lit, with very simple furnishings. From the old sofa, it was evident that the family’s financial situation was indeed dire.
"Please sit," the woman invited.
Qi Yun sat on the sofa, took a look around, and went straight to the point: "Mrs. Rodriguez, someone like Benjamin doesn’t deserve to be a councilman. Both father and son should face legal judgment."
"I know of the misfortune that has befallen your family, and I sympathize deeply. I am very willing to help you, please trust me."
The woman wiped her tears and hesitated: "Who are you? A reporter? Or a police officer?"
"Neither."
Qi Yun spoke with sincerity, "You can call me Qi, I’m an investor in Alaska. Benjamin intends to seize my assets, and during my investigation, I accidentally learned about Emily’s case."
"I cannot tolerate their heinous acts, so I found you. I think perhaps we can help each other."
The woman looked at him with a complex expression, full of hesitation, fear, and a faint glimmer of hope.
"Help us? How? We’ve tried everything, calling the police, seeking media exposure, and yet? We ended up fleeing like rats to here, and Emily..."
She covered her face, her shoulders beginning to shake again.
Qi Yun did not blame her attitude, recognizing it as the ultimate expression of a mother’s disappointment.
He picked up the briefcase next to him, placed it on the coffee table, and opened it.
"Here’s a million US dollars, enough to improve your financial situation. I also have friends in New York who can arrange for you to move there and offer you employment."
"Please believe me, I am very capable."
