Chapter 584: Test Flight

"Starting pre-flight sequence." Jace announced as he began flipping some switches in the cock pit of the fighter craft ship. "Is your armor on and sealed?" Jace asked as he glanced back over his shoulder at Shilla.

Shilla gave a thumbs up. "All good. Comms working?" She asked as she spoke over the communication network."

Jace looked down at his gauges, controls, and screens giving a thumbs up when the appropriate wave length reacted. "We are all good there. Testing hover plates." The ship moved up slightly as they could barely hear a hum come from the ship because the reactor was louder. Not deafening but it is certainly not quiet.

"Are they supposed to hum?" Shilla asked.

"It is the combined pressure of an electromagnetic pulse mixed with an anti-gravity- you know what? Yes it is supposed to hum. Quieter than an engine but with so many of them running at once it is quite loud." Jace explained to her before flipping some switches and turning off the upward facing hover plates. The hum almost completely disappeared.

"What was that?"

"I turned off the ones we do not need at the moment." Jace explained as he moved to the next system. "Strap yourself in. Close the hatch." He told her.

"Closing the hatch." She confirmed as the reinforced canopy closed above them. There was a crisp click as it locked into place. "It is closed and sealed."

Jace nodded. "Activiating canopy shielding." A moment later an almost imperceptible blue shielding covered the canopy. "It works. Okay, next we are pulling up the landing gears." He flicked a switch, "Cain are they raised?"

"Affirmative. Opening the doors." He declared before the doors began opening.

"Activating the engines." A moment later there was a much louder noise as the engines fired up for the first time. "Huh... that sounds good."

"Centuria engines are never that loud." Shilla complained.

"I doubt they are this powerful either." Jace pointed out before taking the joystick with one hand and the acceleration lever with the other one. "Going out." Jace announced before pushing the lever forward slightly.

The ship lurched forward slightly before launching out of the hangar. The moment they exited the facility he pulled back the lever. "Well that is a bit too fast." Shilla pointed out as she moved slightly. They were in zero gravity now but that did not impede either of them.

"Yeahhh, that was a bit overkill." Jace let out a sigh before accessing the console and changing a few things. Turning off the main engines and only using the auxiliary ones. "Can’t use the main engines. Only utilizing the auxiliary ones." Jace told them as he pushed up the lever. The ship started moving slowly but not annoyingly slow.

They move forward and through the asteroid field. He moved the stick and adjusted on the ship. He weaved around asteroids for a moment and noticed something. "Are we leaving a trail in space?" It looked like as they flew they left a blue trail faintly in space. It stuck around for only a moment.

"Indeed." Shilla nodded. "There are tales of something like this happening before. The tales say that it only happens with a perfectly tuned ship."

"It is some type of ion trail. I cannot analyze it completely." Cain admitted. "Should we test the camouflage systems now?"

"Agreed." Jace chuckled. "Activating the anti-sensor systems. How are we looking?" Jace asked as he flew towards the control center."

"We can see you on cameras and we see you as you fly past the windows. But you have disappeared from our sensors. But the odd trail is still visible but it is negligible enough that it can be mistaken for space dust." Cain informed him. "Next?"

"Activating gravity generator." Jace informed them and they could feel a ripple throughout the ship. He frowned but did nothing else.

"How is it looking?" Jace asked.

"Like we can’t see it." Cain told him. "Nothig on sensors either. Aside from slight warping that has to be looked for. You are invisible. But keep in mind that it will not work in a high gravitational environment like a planet."

"I know." Jace admitted before turning around the ship and powering off the gravity field but leaving on the anti-sensor systems. "We are going to move out of the asteroid fields. Contact us if anything goes wrong."

"Understood."

Then Jace and Shilla were on their own separate communication channel. Cut off from the others as he maneuvered out of the asteroid field. The ship operated like a dream. It almost felt energetic with him flying it.

"This is so smooth. The dampeners are so good that I barely even feel anything. Vexical design? Or Victorium design?" Shilla asked as he could hear her operating the console to check the flight data.

"Neither. It is UEE." Jace told her with a chuckle. "Some type of gel that is put between the layers. We are still analyzing it so we can replicate it later."

"Huh..." Shilla mumbled. "How do we want to travel to Prima Terra? Warp, jump drive, or quantum drive?"

"None of the above. We are using the engines. I want to see how fast we can go." Jace informed her as he pulled free of the asteroid field and started aiming to Prima Terra. "Okay, time to speed up. Reinitiating the main engines. Watch our power output."

"Watching power." She informed him. Then the main engines activities in conjunction with the auxiliaries after a few tapes of a button. "The hover plates are still active." She pointed out and Jace switched them off.

Jace then began turning up the power and at the halfway point as they sped past a planet they could start feeling it. "How is it looking? Is heat distribution fine?"

"It is. Still showing cold but the anti-sensor- ah yeah, the anti-sensor systems went down." Shilla informed him. "Looks like our speed is too high for it to operate. Which reminds me, how are we going to slow down?"

"I have an idea for that. It should really test the initial dampeners." Jace told her with a chuckle as he realized they would reach Prima Terra before he could get to the maximum speed. "Looks like we are going to have to test the full speed another day." Jace informed her with a sigh as he looked at Mars as it passed by the ship.

"Looks like there are several ships and stations in orbit." Shilla pointed out as Jace began pulling back the lever to slow down the speed. But there was no resistance so it was still a bit fast.

"They are not just around Mars either. Looks like the entire system is covered in ships of varying types. Only some are the local empire. I am guessing that others are rebels and then other nations as well. Looks like the war for this system has begun." Jace observed as he prepared to do his maneuver since they were getting close to the planet.

"Indeed. We are going to need to be careful. We are approaching Prima Terra, already..." Shilla trailed off. "All systems are still fine. The anti-sensor systems just can’t operate with this speed. How are we going to slow down?"

Jace began flipping the ship around. The inertia still had them going to Prima Terra. But now they were flying backwards. "The easiest way." Jace answered. "Keep an eye on our back."

The ship slowly slowed down as he turned up the lever until it was almost negligible. "Coming up on a ship we are slow enough now." She pointed out and Jace spun them back around as he activated the anti-sensor systems.

He then maneuvered to enter the atmosphere of the planet. "Are they following us?" Jace asked after he entered the calculation to their destination before sending a quick message down to the planet.

"Nope. I doubt they even noticed us." Shilla answered.

They began entering the orbit of the planet at a slower pace and Jace switched off the main engines. Only utilizing the auxiliaries for now. "Entering the atmosphere." They could feel gravity as they entered the atmosphere at an angle. He was far away from his destination.

"All systems are still good."

"Activating hover plates... now." He activated them as soon as they were in the lower atmosphere.

"Still good. Looks like it can operate in gravity." Shilla declared. "What is next?"

"Next. We test the pressure." Jace answered as he received a response and lowered the altitude of the ship until they entered the sea.

"Under the water?"

"That is where our destination is." Jace answered. "How are the engines?"

"Good. So are the hover plates. You really tricked this ship out." Shilla pointed out with a chuckle.

They were only just below the surface as Jace began bringing them further down on a direct path to their destination when the comms crackled to life. "Welcome back." The robotic voice of the NeoYakuza spoke.

"I assume this is your contact?" Shilla asked from the back.
